Frozen Grapes

If it’s something cool you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with some frozen grapes. Not only are these relatively low in calories, but since they take a long time to eat, this also helps keep your total energy consumption down.

Simply wash and dry some seedless grapes and then place them in a Tupperware container in the freezer. Let them sit for 5 hours or overnight and then eat them as desired.

Banana Popsicles

If grapes aren’t your thing, you can easily do a similar strategy with bananas instead. Simply peel the banana and then coat it in some low fat Greek yogurt. Sprinkle some chopped nuts over top and then place it in the freezer for a few hours. Remove and serve.

It’ll be like your own ice cream sundae – only without the fat and calories.

Protein Ice Cream

If you really want to get creative, you can also consider preparing some protein ice cream as well. If you purchase an actual ice cream maker, you can make ice cream that tastes very much like the real thing. Or, if you don’t want to buy the appliance, you can simply make it yourself in the freezer.

Mix together a scoop of protein powder with a half cup of unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk (if you want a higher fat, creamier tasting treat) and then any mashed fruit, nuts, or dark chocolate pieces as desired. Place this mixture in an ice cream machine and prepare.

Or alternatively, place it in a Tupperware container in the fridge, stirring it every 30-45 minutes until set.

Home-Made Milkshakes

Finally, if a milkshake is what you crave, take comfort in knowing that you can prepare a healthy version of this as well. You’ll simply want to mix together a scoop of protein powder, some low-fat, low sugar yogurt, unsweetened almond milk, and any frozen berries you desire. Then add the secret ingredient – ¼ tsp. xanthan gum. This is a thickening agent that will make the smoothie taste just like a real milkshake while also giving it a much creamier taste and consistency.
