How What You Wear (or Don't Wear) to Bed Can Affect Your Health

Are you a nude sleeper? Or do you love to pile on the flannel PJs? How about socks? Or underwear? You might be wondering why it matters, but it turns out that your sleepwear choices can affect your health.

The underlying reason connection between what you wear to bed and your health is that it can affect how well you sleep. Quality sleep is an essential part of your overall health and being sleep deprived is linked to stroke, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, depression, weight gain, and heart attack.

If you have trouble sleeping at night, then look to your feet. Studies have shown that having cold feet could be keeping you up at night. Feet help regulate your body temperature so if you go barefoot to bed, you could be making your body work too hard to stay warm. Wearing lightweight socks can lower your blood pressure and keep you warm. If you get hot, just pop a foot out of the covers and all will be well.

When it comes to clothing — hang loose. Although there are rumors that wearing a bra at night can prevent sagging, they can also be constricting, causing problems with blood flow and you can get a rash and develop other issues. Wearing panties is also not a good idea because vaginas need some room to breathe and giving them a night off is a good way to get some airflow to prevent yeast infections and bacterial infections. Similarly, tight sexy getups are also inadvisable for actual sleeping.

In fact, sleeping in nothing is probably your best bet to regulate temperature and avoid constrictive clothing. But if you tend to be cold, then just choose loose fitting cotton fabric PJs so that you can stay warm without suffocating.
