Many people don't know how to tone their bodies without breaking a sweat. It's possible to tone your muscles with a series of quick workouts spaced throughout the day. In this manner, you can tone your body and not have to stop for a shower afterward. Here are some tips.

1. Do Squats while You're Brushing Your Teeth

You can do this exercise in the bathroom in the morning, while you're brushing your teeth, washing your face and even applying makeup. Stand upright, with your feet about as far apart as the width of your hips. Bend your knees and pull your stomach muscles inward, toward your spine. Stay that way until you begin to feel a burning sensation in your legs.

Your knees should be bent as far as possible, as if you were about to sit down in a chair. Tighten your buttocks while in this position to firm them as well.

2. Take 15 Minutes to Work on Your Abs

While you're preparing breakfast or at any point during your day, you can take 15 minutes to work on your abs. Strengthen your core muscles by doing crunches with your arms held straight out in front of you. Once you've done about twenty of these (or more if you feel up to it), lie flat on the floor and make bicycling motions with your legs. Do this slowly to tone your leg and abdominal muscles.

3. Stand on Your Toes

Standing up on your tiptoes and then lowering back down again, slowly and repeatedly, is a great way to tone your leg and calf muscles, while strengthening your ankles and feet, while waiting for the bus or standing in line. Lifting your arms over your head and breathing deeply and expansively into your ribcage adds an upper body stretch to this exercise.

4. Walk More

Walking is a great way to tone your body and strengthen your cardiovascular system, and you only need to walk 30 minutes per day to see improvement! It's easy to incorporate more walking into your day. Instead of driving from your workplace to have lunch, walk to a nearby cafe or restaurant. When shopping, park a little further from the store. As you walk, suck in your stomach to tone and firm the muscles of the abdomen.

5. Work on Your Posture

There's no better way to strengthen and tone the muscles of your abdomen and back than to exercise good posture. To improve your posture, stand up straight with your feet centered below your hips. Tuck your tailbone, square your shoulders and hold your head up high. Walking, standing and sitting with good posture tones your core muscles and can even raise your metabolism, but it won't make you break a sweat.

6. Don't Forget to Stretch

With all this toning you've been doing, you're going to need to stretch a bit to keep your muscles long and supple and avoid cramps. Here are some ideas:

  • Touch your toes.
  • While touching your toes, clasp your hands behind you and extend your arms behind your back to stretch your chest muscles.
  • Extend your arms above your head and lean gently from side to side. Keep your feet firm.
