Everything You Need to Know About the #LoveMyShape Movement

In 2017 there is still a lot of pressure for women to look a certain way, however, inspiring campaigns promoting body positivity for all shapes and sizes are doing wonderful things in the hopes of altering society's perception of what makes a healthy and beautiful woman. And the #LoveMyShape Movement is one of the campaigns that is helping to empower women.

Body shaming is nothing new and it seems to be becoming all the more common because of social media platforms, however, the #LoveMyShape Movement is taking a stand against all types of body shaming and encouraging women to use social media as a way of celebrating themselves and sharing photos of their bodies. Started by Shape magazine — a women's active lifestyle brand — the body confidence campaign was launched in the hopes of conveying the message to all women that their bodies are unique.

And it has gained the support of many famous people, including Kim Kardashian. Although it's not just a movement for those who are famous, it's for everyone.

Every woman's body is different, and there is not one right way to look. You can be skinny, curvy, have wobbling bits around your tummy and your thighs, have stretch marks, scars, and skin discolorations, have big arms or short legs … but whatever you have, it's beautiful and it's unique to you. Your body is a vessel and you only get one, which is why it's so important to take care of it, and love it.

And while there is nothing wrong with having fitness and body goals, those goals don't define you, because, as Shape says, "you shouldn't let those goals stop you from loving yourself right now." Don't miss out on doing things you love because you are too self-conscious, don't not wear what you want because you don't think society will approve, and definitely don't get hung up on not being perfect, because what is perfect anyway?
