3 Ways to Exercise Your Eyes

Pump up those peepers!

Do your eyes often feel tired or strained? It could be that spending your day looking at a screen is weakening your eye muscles, causing eye strain, vision problems, dry eyes, and even anxiety and headache. While it would be a simple solution to simply stop looking at screens, it’s not really a possibility in modern life. From using your smartphone to your computer at work and your television at home, screens are all around. Luckily, there are ways to exercise your eyes so that you can relax and lubricate them.

Eye exercises can’t improve your vision if your nearsighted, have vision loss, and select other eye conditions. But some eye issues can benefit from giving your guys a good workout. Check out some of the ways you can work out your precious peepers.

Roll your eyes.

Not in the "As if!" sense, but thoughtfully. Keeping your shoulders relaxed and your head straight, use your eyes to look left. The look up and to the right. Keeping rolling your eyes, first clockwise and then counterclockwise, doing sets of 10 reps in each direction.

Moving object.

For weak eye muscles, consider trying the moving object move. It’s sometimes prescribed by doctors to correct for certain issues. Use your finger or an object such as a pen or a pencil. Hold it out in front of you, at arm’s length and then slowly move it toward you, focusing on the tip the whole time. Continue this for around 10 reps.

Eye massage techniques can also help.

Don’t rub your eyes, this can scratch them and may also cause dark circles and wrinkles. Instead, try rubbing your hands briskly together to create warmth. Then gently cup your warmed hands over your eyes. Another technique is to gently press a finger on each eye without rubbing. Or try rubbing the area around the eyes, such as your temples, to create some relief from a rough day.

Try these techniques, together or with others, a few times each day and see if you begin to notice that your eyes feel more comfortable.
