I plan on face-planting in both, in rotation, throughout the day! lol I'm also doing strawberry shortcake, brownies, and 8-9 kinds of bars... a total healthy diet nightmare.
Quinn - DROOLING!!! Raspberry and chocolate in the same dessert is irresistible! You're baking 8-9 different kinds of bars? OMG! Do any have peanut butter? I would love a recipe for peanut butter bars.

I have found a really efficient way to keep myself away from sweets; add either shredded coconut or peaches. Hence no German chocolate cake or peach cobbler... but I love to cook Thai food with lots of coconut milk.. DH says I'm weird...

Special occasions should be enjoyed, and this weekend sounds like you're in for a fantastic party! There are 6 more days in the week to be good - so have cake and celebrate!

My goals for this week:
<1400 calories: 1188, 1702
Net Carbs < 20: 18.1, 19.7
Water (oz): 48, 60
exercise: none, 1 hr gardening

Quinn and Ama you're making me drool! mmmmm Cake! I am making myself a special lo-carb cheesecake on the weekend for my birthday. I got some special Lindt 85% dark chocolate to drizzle over the top of it - can't wait!

Mern, thanks for the tip re flaxseed. I thought I had some ground flaxseed but I guess I used it all last time I made muffins. I'll have to get some more.

Everyone else, I hope you all had a great day!

Another good day diet-wise. Didn't get a chance to walk because it's really cold and windy. Under on my calories so it should all even out. Got a lot of little jobs done today that were left undone from spring cleaning. Feels good to be mostly caught up, both inside and out. It's amazing how many projects get done when friends and relatives are coming over that you haven't seen in years! lol

Tuesday:

1. Walk daily, weather permitting. Yes, Bad weather
2. Calories between 1000-1100. Way under, Under
3. 3-4 fruits and veggies daily. Way over, Yes
4. NO bread, cheese, frozen yogurt, etc. None, None
5. Loose 2-3 lbs. this week... Will weigh in on Saturday.
6. 80-100 oz. of liquids a day. Yes, Yes

Ama,

My favorite bars with peanut butter are Special K bars that my mom made when I was a kid... Oh! And Peanut Butter Balls and Reese's Peanut Butter Bars and... Man, now I want ANYTHING with peanut butter! (Right out of the jar works for me! )

Cate and Mern,

I've been following your conversation about flaxseed and I had to say that I've had wonderful health benefits from it. My doctor recommended flaxseed for "monthly" issues and for breast pain. Within 5-7 days, both problems were completely gone. I tried to incorporate ground flaxseed into my diet, but it just didn't work out for me. So now I take three 1000 mg flaxseed oil capsules. I know that I don't get the fiber benefit, but I'm ok with that. I tried another supplement a few weeks ago with fish, flaxseed and borage oil (Omega 3,6 & 9) but within a few days, to my surprise, all of my symptoms returned. So I went back to 100% flaxseed oil and feel much better.

I'm really happy that doctors are finally using more healthful alternatives to prescription meds; something that my family has done for generations. I didn't have my first antibiotic until I was 12!
