They are becoming quite popular in our area too. We survived the last hailstorm without needing a new roof, but next time, we'll get a ridge vent when they replace the shingles.
In our area a roof lasts 25-30 years usually. But we found out this past summer with high winds and rain that we developed a leak in one area. We had insurance pay to fix that side of the roof but our roofer told us that we needed to do the rest soon. Now the rest is really looking bad. You can break the edges off the shingles with little effort. Our most severe weather is usually snowfall. We dont' get hurricanes, tornadoes, hail, etc. I live in PA where weather is pretty boring unless it decides to snow 4 ft overnight!
I do know what ridge vents are but that is not what I mean. The way our house is uniquely designed there are actually no ridges to vent. So we will be getting 8 total vents. They are about 12" square, black and pretty flat. They stick up from the roof about 2" and the way our property is laid out you will never even see them due to the height of the roof unless you really really look.

I am so far behind on the posts that I don't think I can respond individually this time.

I do want to thank all of you for your comments on my pic. I don't like the pic but it is me, really me. Not all sucked in or dressed up. What you see is what you get LOL. I do know that most days I do look better than that now but I wanted a reality picture too.

It's almost the weekend .... who's got goals for the weekend? I'm thinking about what mine should be. I really wanted to do that last set of bushes but this weekend is supposed to be a washout so now I have to rethink.

10 year old DD has a hearing next Thursday. The letter said the purpose of the hearing is to place the matter (kicking the boy deliberately, but accidentally in his "nether region") before an unbiased mediator to avoid sending her to juvenile court. We don't know whether that means the mother backed down on pressing charges since he didn't need to go to a doctor or hospital and was running around the playground at school the next day, but it would go that route simply due to the zero tolerance stance in our township. We hope for truth, fairness, justice, and a lesson learned.

Got my exercise done. Gotta quickly eat lunch, shower, then go pick up high school grandkids. Will try to catch you all tonight.

Mern, good news. I was hoping it might head in that direction. It may be that the DA met with the family and they realized they had no case, or that someone who used their head realized that criminal charges against a 10 year old for something like this is totally ridiculous. It should be all of those things you're looking for and I hope it goes very well.

Frenchhen, I feel the exact same way! Dinner at home is always my responsibility and I make that decision and prepare it every darn day, so why should I decide where we go when we go out! I had to laugh reading that; I could've written it myself!

Sorry for falling out on checking in. It has been an insanely busy week. No time to log or exercise the past two days, but food choices have been pretty good and I still feel like I'm on top of things, even if not following the exact letter of my stated goals. If I have time tonight I'll come up with some weekend goals and I want to stay active on the forums. Hope I have some weekend warriors along with me !

My son's HS region matches are done and they are moving onto the state level. Unfortunately we weren't seeded high enough to stay home, so they are playing in Savannah (about 4.5 hours away). I am so glad he's had a wonderful experience, but geez...it's been quite a time commitment.

I missed out on the thread again!!!

Started getting cramps in my hands during my BodyPump class over the past two weeks and it's really gotten me down. But I read that it may be a magnesium deficiency, which my trainer backed up, so before running to the doctors I'm trying a supplement for the next few weeks to see if it eases.

Other than that I'm doing alright. Had a few full days at work after a winter of half days, so I was too exhausted to hit the gym afterwards but I'm hoping to get used to it again after a while. My job is only part time, and I've no idea how those with full time hours tries to lose weight! All I want to do when I get home is have a hearty dinner and curl up in bed.

Hope everyone is having a nice week, and has a lovely weekend if I don't stop by again for a few days.

Cassie. It's wonderful how supportive you are with your son's sport and it looks like its paying off. Hope the savannah trip goes well.

Mern and April. There's always something to do in a house, I have a long list of things I'd like to do but they have been put back because I paid to have new wooden flooring put down in my son's apartment and it didn't come cheap...

Pretty good day foodwise and I worked out on the Wii tennis for a half hour. Tomorrow I'm doing my half hour walk right before breakfast. I'm taking my two great nieces out for the day to an interactive facility that is great fun.
My goals for this weekend are to be moderate in everything.

Not too shabby for on the go! Now its time to catch up with everybody!.....

Ama – how was your week?

Cassie – I am a stay-at-home mom (“working at home means that sometimes you can do things without pants”) LOL so true! We often have pajama days in this household!

April – I can barely make it out of the bed at 7! So good for you hun! Sometimes I wish I could get to bed early but then I would miss all my TV shows lol! Do you work in transportation?? 3 must be the magic number this week!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Are you a weekend warrior this weekend!!?? YAY!!!

Mern – tks for the Bok Choy tips and info! The dump and taste method works well for me too! You can basically use anything and add some broth and it’s a great soup – I usually clean out my fridge with all the leftover veggies from the week to make sure they don’t go to waste! While working out the TV works wonders for me – I HAVE TO HAVE IT ON or I go crazy! Great job on your workouts!

Nobe - -3!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!! YAY so happy for you!!! Nice green this week!

Mike – nice attempt on the bench press! Maybe next time…!

Jeanne – I will def try the coleslaw mix! That sounds yummy!!

Lizzie – It sooo hard going out and actually ordering sensibly – I have to work on this – I think I go a little bit crazy when I smell restaurant! Good for you!

Terri – wow , I thought I was busy but …wow… that’s all I got! Good for you for checking in!

Tori – I’ve never had strep throat but it doesn’t sound fun – hope you are feeling better! Awesome job on the weight loss this week!!
