Okay...what's up, here?
Yesterday 191 lbs, today 186 lbs. Apparently I was a walking water balloon.:D
|
Roby
Sounds like a great start well done, water or not its a shift in the scales just keep focused and I hope you get where you want to be. I was 170.8 yesterday and am 172 today, I am weighing every day for the first month or so as it really helped me stay on track previously, keeping check on myself. I realise scales can fluctuate daily and our bodies but generally speaking when Ive had a gain, I know the reason why. All I can say is in future when Im going out to eat, I need to plan better and be stronger and not let folk push food at me. I have to strengthen my will. |
Man, you guys are brave..I have yet to step foot on a scale this month. Just don't want to be disappointed.
We have a contest going at work, which started on Aug. 23rd where we wear a pedometer every day and records our steps, then add them up at the end of the week. The contest is finished on Oct.3rd. My average is only in the high 2k's, unless on my days off then I really rack up the steps. I think we win some sort of prize at the end, but I'm just happy to see where I need to improve.:D My next half marathon is Oct. 17th and I hope to shave a few minutes off of my last race which was 3:30. |
I am also new! I would also like to lose 30 pounds! I need support :) I am 44 years old and currently weighed in today at 186lbs. I would love to get to 155! I am looking for a support group if anyone is interested in helping me :) Problems for me right now are low energy, drive and motivation. I do feel like I am ready to get this thing going now! Any good advice on your first days? Things that worked to keep you motivated to not fall off the wagon? Anything you can do to help is much appreciated ! :)

Hi Mommasleep
Hi Mommasleep,
It sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I am currently 186 and sould like to get down to about 160 or 165. Been at this "diet" for about a week. I've increased activity (like to walk) and have cut way back on unhealthy food, and calories in general. I have not lost any weight this last week. I can definitely identify with you on the motivation issue. It is sooooo easy to just eat something I shouldn't and tell myself that either it won't matter, or I'll try harder tomorrow. I have found that keeping track of everything that I eat on this site is helping, along with thinking like someone dealing with an addiction--ONE DAY AT A TIME!!! :-) If you would like, I'd love to be your weight loss buddy! Otherwise, it looks like there is a lot of support here on this thread. |
I am kinda new - been a member for a few months, but really just started using fitday last week. I am 35yo, approx 5'3 225lb - mini goal of losing 25lb, ultimate goal is losing 85.
My son & I have been walking 4 days a week before school/work and then I go to an aqua fitness class twice a week. I've already lost 3 lbs since last Tuesday! Trying to keep it up! |
Hi guys I fall into this category, its the inbetween one- not too much to lose, but enough for it to to be quite a big mountain to climb (down)
Ive gotta admit I havent braved the scales just yet- Im going to wait at least a week and rely on measurements instead. At this stage I think it would be discouraging to see numbers higher than I had originally thought... But well done to all those doing so well! :D And dont get too discouraged those who are not seeing the results you deserve to see! Ive done this type of loss before and it is true that the scales are very inconsistent and dont relate very well to the effort put in! Its so frustrating at times... Hopefully we'll all get there in the end |
Can I play, too? I've been a member here for a little while, but haven't really been steady in using all the stuff that's available. I'm starting the gym tonight!
|
Just checking in....
Hi all,
Just checking in today. How's everyone doing? I'm having some luck changing my eating habits (eating more frequently, eating smaller portions, eating the right foods) and have lost 2 lbs in the last 2 days. I was trying a diet of about 1000 cals last week in hopes of jump starting my weight loss and didn't lose even a pound doing that! Yah, I was frustrated beyond belief. Isn't it funny how every person's body responds differently? I bumped up my calorie intake to about 1200-1400 and seem to be seeing some encouraging progress. Best wishes to all, Robyn |
Long Time Member Needs 30lbs OFF
Hi, I have been a Fitday member for quite a long time. I wish there was a DT version for Mac! I recently gained 10lbs when I hurt my knee. I had a scope done, but now I have a Baker's Cyst and cannot do my walks anymore...thereby 10lbs crept up on me. Some of it is water weight from my swollen leg. I would be thrilled to lose 30lbs, get back to 150lbs, which is still overweight for my height, but not obese. I lost some lbs earlier this year using Fitday. I think it is a wonderful program.
Thank you thank you to whoever designed Fitday:D |

Hi Guys! I'm in!! :]
I do good for 3 days, then bad for 3 days, then good for 3 days....RESULT? I lose the same two pounds over and over!! :[ After about 3 days, I get REALLY hungry. I guess I need some accountability to get past that 4th day. Anybody in my boat and wanna be my buddy? I'd like to set up a text message exchange for instant support. That fourth day is kller. I'm 47, weigh 152. My goal is 130 by Christmas. After one week, I'm starting to lose those two pounds again! lol. Cass |
Ok...so it seems that most of us want this off by Christmas! Let's make it happen! We need to constantly encourage each other. I've had no change in the past two weeks. I guess I should see a little good in that, but I don't. So, I'm going to work harder this week! No scale until next Friday! I have to push myself!
Good luck everyone....enjoy the weekend, but don't overdo it. |
Hey everyone as i put into my thread im back on the weightwatchers plan after a stressful time. I did really well on it last year and lost 3 stone alongside another stone that id lost the year before!! I can happily say that i havent put the weight back on but im still a couple of stone away from my goal weight.
Im my second week in and after my on my first weigh in yesterday i have lost 4lbs!! Im over the moon to be back in control again and excited about getting to the point when im happy with my body. Evenings and weekends are when i tend to struggle most but im trying really hard to find other ways to beat boredom then food. COASTALCASS-i know exactly what you mean when you mention the 3 days good and 3 days bad routine. This is how ive been for the last 9months and why i couldnt lose the last 2 stone i wanted when i left the ww.meetings and like you stayed the same without any loss at all. Im much better now im back at weightwatchers because it gives me reason to be good for the 7 days needed to lose the unwanted pounds. Consistency is the key. You can do it!!!! We all can with each others support! Start Weight-235lbs Current weight- 171lbs 4LBS LOSS THIS WEEK!!!! yipee Goal weight- 140lbs |
Hey thanks, Tracey!! You're doing really great! 4 stones!! OMG that's a lot!!
I am so struggling right now, its not so good! It's like you said ... STRESS! I feel like I ate a balloon! It's all in my middle!! :C And I don't see any relief on the stress front!! So today I did some research on food and stress and decided to try something radical. I'm temporarily switching to a higher fat diet to help manage the stress. Avacado, almond, oatmeal, salmon, and oranges...plus lots of supplements, including fat supplements. We will see if I can hold off the cravings for wine and cheese after work! :D Thanks for the encouragement!! I haven't been able to get on the scale this week. But I have to on Sunday. Cheers, Cass |
Hey Cass its so hard to manage stress with food. I walk the school run everyday for 60 mins (15 mins x4) and that helps me destress my mind and think about things a little more instead of being so close to the food cupboards. I could perhaps look on the net and see what other foods help combat stress. Im a real stresser and worrier and if i let it build up it just takes control of me and i become an absolute nightmare to live with.
I try hard now to recognise when im starting to get stressed be it with the kids (age 7 and 5), friends, money, family and try to deal with it or talk it through with myself or my boyfriend. I find if i keep it bottled up it just goes on a downward spiral. Keep posted and let me know how the higher fats foods experiment goes? Good luck-Tracey The weekends here now and i find it a struggle as im not as busy and out of the weekly routine so im gong to try really hard to stay on track and get a good weight loss on tuesdays weigh in. |
Hi Everyone
Hey guys,
I hope you have room for one more un your group. My name is Andrea and I live in Ontario. I am 5'11 and currently weigh 187 pounds. My goal is to lose 35-40 pounds by Feb 14th 2011. I am 29 years old and have 2 kids aged 4 and 18 months. I think the biggest reason for my weight gain was the 2 pregnancies and eating foods that little kids like. I just joined fitday about 10 days ago and am already down 4 pounds. never realized how bad chicken fingers were for you until I read the box...lol. I am fairly active and think that the biggest contributor towards my weight loss success is going to be watching what I eat. Thanks for reading and I will post again soon! P.S. how do I get a siggy? |
hi and welcome to the forums xarinn. I also gained most of my weight in my pregnancies but just took so long to finally do something about it. Also eating all the kids leftovers on top of my own dinner didnt help. I wasnt happy back then and comfort ate til i thought id pop. Ive turned my life around now though big time and i dont recognise that person i was 5 years ago.
Isnt it a real eye-opener when you read the food labels??? Congratulations on the 10pounds lost so farand good luck with getting to goal!!! ps.dont know about signatures....sorry |
Hello Ladies! I have not posted here for the longest time, but Tracey, when i saw you're back, i had to post! where have you been girl? welcome back!!!!!!
i truly missed you, hope you had a good summer and i am so glad that you're back on track again. Andrea, welcome to you too! good for you you've got anearly start and i'm sure you'll lose the weight fairly quick. about the signature, if you click on user cp, on the top left corner of the screen, you get a bunch of controls there, edit signature is one of them, click on it and you'll be able to creat and later on modify your signature as you want. even though i don't have 30 lbs to lose anymore, i think i was happier when i posted here, so with all your permission, i would like to come back here. |
Welcome xarinn! You'll love this group! I'm glad we are all doing well. Despite my first 3 stressful weeks of being back at school I did well this week. My first 2 weeks I saw no change. I worked hard (only on watching what I ate) this week. So, I dropped 1 pound! Hey! It's better than nothing or adding a pound. I'm hoping to do well next week. We have a town festival tomorrow so I am going to try to be as good as possible. It's the weekend.....GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! Just think of us and how we all have our goals! No giving up ladies!
|
Thanks for the warm welcomes and the support guys. I am going to need it this weekend, my son turns 5 and he is having 2 parties ( one for friends, one for families)so that means twice the cake and twice the ice cream oh no!!!!!
Hopefully I will be good, I have managed to keep my calories between 1500-1700 for the past ten days so I hope not to go over that! Fingers crossed for me :) |
ROBYNHOERR,
I WOULD LOVE A PARTNER!! I really need someone who is in the same boat as me and you really do appear to be in my same boat. What is the best way to do this? I am getting motivated just from reading your reply. LET'S DO THIS!!!! |
Hello ladies. Welcome aboard newbies.
I havent posted in a while because I've been busy with family and trying to figure this crazy stubborn weight. I'm really stuck in an unforgiving plateau right now and I need some encouragement and ideas on how to start losing weight again. I realized that after a while, walking isnt sufficient enough for my body anymore. Even though I enjoyed it. So I decided to join the gym at the local YMCA. I do the treadmill with 5.0 incline (like walking up a hill) at 3 mph for 35 minutes. Then I get on the bike for 25 minutes. I use my 3rd day in the aerobics class and that is 1 hour. I've been there for about 3 weeks now and I managed to lose only 1 pound. The scale is going in the right direction but 1 pound every 3 weeks isn't cutting it for me. I know I can do better than that. I'm still eating right. Excersizing 3 days a week. I wanted to lose all this weight by the end of October. I don't see that happening. I guess I have to join the ladies that are aiming for Christmas. Not that Christmas is a bad thing but I've been at this since April. At this rate I might end up at my goal weight by summer next year. Kind of losing hope. Any suggestions? I'm in desperate need of some. starting weight 156lbs current weight 137lbs goal weight 125lbs |
Hiya Farah-wow youve nearly reached goal-well done youre doing brilliantly.
I had al the stress with my daughter being poorly and i really wasnt in the right frame of mind for losing weight. I found it so hard staying on track without weightwatchers-it was all too easy to go and eat something i shouldnt. Im so much more determined now ive gone back to weightwatchers and im doing much better knowing that im getting weighed every tuesday. Im paying for it and im not spending the weekly fee to not lose weight!! Hey i missed you too and did think how you were doing-im really glad im back!! My summer wasnt too bad-went really quickly but managed to get some really great days out with the kids so that was good. Ive gotta say though that im glad they back at school and we are all back in the routine. Im getting more exercise and the kids are glad that they can see their friends again. Well done on having only 3.4lbs to lose til goal, that is fantastic and i bet your feeling great? |
Xarinn- keep strong and think about goal to help you steer clear from too much cake and sweet stuff. Stay busy-im sure you will be okay but enjoy the celebrations and keep posted. Good luck
Vickytoria- you sound just as i did-all i do is walk and it wasnt doing nothing to my weight cos ive been doing it for too long. I stayed at the same weight, going up a couple of pounds and back down to the same for months. I knew that it was only possible for me to lose weight if i went back to weightwatchers and low and behold in my first week i managed to shift 4lbs. Im now back on track. I also had stress with family and id make countless attempts to lose weight on my own. Writing lists of foods, targets etc but it all went out the window because i had no motivation. Congratulate yourself for making changes and doing more exercise. The weight willl come off and even if it takes longer then you would have hoped you will get there. Youre making great changes for your overall health and remember how far you have come. Good luck |
Xarinn - I know you can do it! Just keep reminding yourself of this group when you go to reach for a piece of cake.
Vickytoria = definitely look at what traceymc has to say! I've been struggling since this time last year. I, of course, didn't exercise. This past summer I finally started exercising 5 days a week. I noticed a difference right away. Now i'm at a stand still. I will have to change more of my eating. STAY STRONG! NO GIVING UP! Kudos to weight watchers. I am not that disciplined. I tried it, but I could do it. (If someone could just tell me what my meals were I'd be happy!) I've heard and seen great things with weight watchers. |
So yesterday, we had a town festival with crafts and FOOD!!!! I did well with only sticking to lunch and no little snacks at each stand! But as we were nearing the end, I ran into an old friend from high school. We said hi, gave each other a big hug, and then I wanted to disappear and run a marathon. With a big smile, she said, "Oh are you having another baby?!" Mortifying!!!!!!!!!! I simply tried to laugh it off and say no, this is just my baby belly from my first one (who is 18 months old). Needless to say, I ate very little for dinner last night. Seriously! She's even pregnant with her second one so you would think that she would know not to ask people those questions! UGH!!!!!!!! I hope everyone had a better weekend than mine!
|
hey Guys
Managed to get through one birthday party so far with no cake and ice cream eaten, to tell the truth I didn't even have much of a chance to think about it dealing with 5 5 year olds and 2 3 year olds I was way to busy. One to go today and I think I should be fine. Vicky- Have you tried doing just mini- bursts of calorie burning things. I found that when I was losing weight between my son and my daughter that really helped. If I was watching TV for example everytime a commercial came on I would do jumping jacks for the entire commercial break. It was just enough to sort of bump start things with our having to radically change my day. Don't know if that will help but its worth a try, what's the worst that's going to happen? a few extra calories burned?....lol |
Firstly Kellykelly- i had the same thing happen to me on a night out years ago when i was at my heaviest and i too was devastated as i was in denial and thought i wasnt as big as i thought. God was i wrong when i saw the pics-that was all i needed. Id love to see them people now though when im 4 and a half stone lighter!! Whatever people say just use it to your advantage and think well wait and see in a few months time. Ive had years of people doubting me and saying comments that were really uncalled for at times. They just dont seem to realise how much it hurts. Like i say to all the members remember how far you have come and be proud of the small steps we all make to change and making ourselves healthier!! Good luck-youre doing great!
Xarinn- well done for the party i knew having little ones to run around after you wouldnt have the time to stop. Also i like the idea of bursts of exercise on the ad breaks-im going to try that! Every bit of exercise counts! Good luck for party number 2 and keep up the good work. As for me well ive nearly got through Sunday and so far so good. Ive had a fatfree yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. My friend called for a coffee in afternoon so that kept me calorie free for a couple of hours, for dinner ive had a BIG plate of roasted veggies and a small bit of pasta. I need big portions cos i like feeling full or i want something else. But if its veg or salad its only a good thing i guess. Kids had the last bit of icecream for pudding and i sat and logged in here with a cup of tea so was good and didnt have any. Too full from tea also! Its been the first Sunday in a long time that i havent blown the diet so im feeling positive. Weigh in on Tuesday and im hoping for a loss no matter how big or small. Every pound is a still a pound. I always say to everyone its not a race-we are all different and everyone loses weight differently. I do weightwatchers with a friend and try not to get competitive although a little bit can be healthy maybe. Heres to a good week for everyone!!!!! Starting weight- 234lb (16st 10lbs) Current weight-170lb (12st 2lbs)-how i cant wait to be in the 160's!!! Goal weight- 140lb (10st)- then we will see from there if i want to lose anymore |
Just want to say its great to be back-done me the world of good!!
|
vickytoria3112, i think there are a few things you need to look at, first, what is your calorie intake? you know you need to have a calorie deficincy to have a weight loss, you could have this deficincy either by exercising, or staying whitin your calorie budget. Drink a lot of water and also, don't do one sort of exercise only for weight loss. for me, i used to do my Gazelle sprintmaster and burn 500-700 calories on it and still would not notice any changes in my body, but when you use variety of exercises, for sure you'll notice the changes in your body and also get out of the plateau. what i do for plateau busting is tae bo boot camp, it has 5 dvd's in the series and i follow the schedule provided by the series and it sure works wonders for me. another thing that is also so very important look at your sources of calories. i have limited my carbs and increased my protein and that has helped me lose so much faster as well. for carb/fat/protein i try to keep a ratio of 30/30/40 or as close to it as possible. good luck!

Hey Guys
Just wanted to let you know that I now have 2 birthday parties under my belt and not an unwanted calorie eaten. I parked my self next to the veggie tray and just ate off of that, luckily I don't like dip so that wasn't a temptation and I was so busy serving cake and ice cream and cleaning up that there wasn't time for me to have any more than a bite of cake. I am very proud of myself, parties tend to be my downfall with all that tasty food around but this time no worries at all!! Well I am exhausted so I am off to do a quick work-out then off to bed. By the way, if any one has an ideas for easy and healthy lunches that would be good to me and appealing to an 18 month old and a 5 year old please let me know, we have kind of gotten stuck in a food rut and there is only so much veggies and tuna that we can eat. Talk to you guys soon! |
Hi, Im 146lbs. aiming to lose 35 pounds by april 2011 :) wish me luck!
Its my first day today here :) |
Welcome happyfit and well done xarinn-that is really good going. Be very proud of yourself. You have the willpower to tackle anything now!
Ive just got back from weightwatchers and ive lost 2.5lbs this week. Im over the moon now im in the 160's!! Start weight- 234lbs Current weight- 167.5lbs Goal- 140lbs |
Tracey-
I would try weightwatchers but I can't afford it. But I will research and see if I can duplicate what they offer and the different meal options (if any). Thanks for the positive words. I should be proud I stepped up my routine. Kelly- I've been eating right since April. I've been strict on my calorie intake and staying within my limit. Of course I know when to go over or under depending on my activities that day. I do eat 6 small meals a day. So far I've been a saint when it comes to what goes in my body. I've limited carbs and upped my protein intake as well. I also eat healthy fats like extra virgine olive oil, avocados, etc. Everyone around me is getting diabetes and I'm so scared of needles that I've been determined not to be another statistic. Thanks or the kind words and your knowledge on the food intake. At least I know I'm still on track. ;) Xarinn- I never thought of that but it seems like a good idea. I will definately take advantage of the commercial breaks. I have some sit-ups I need to start doing and jumping jacks to boost the heart rate. Thanks. Farah- The calorie intake are all set. But the routines I will consider. We have spinning class (bike) that is 1 hour long. I will do that on Mondays. Then on Wednesday I will do the aerobics also 1 hour. On Fridays I will either swim or do belly dancing (all I need is my belly jiggling around...LOL). There are also other classes and different instructors. The instructors pretty much do all the same. They just rotate and some are tougher than others. So I guess I will find my favorite and follow them around to the different classes. Thanks for the idea. Thanks ladies. I feel a lot better now and I also have the drive to keep on going. After this week I will weigh myself and see where I'm at. Good luck to you all. ::hugs:: |

Thanks a lot those are some great suggestions... sounds like my kids will like all of them, with perhaps the exception of the veggie burger...lol
|
traceymc - Thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone! I have our class reunion coming up in Nov. I would like to go back (hoping my old classmate is there) and rub it in her face how great I look! It's the belly that's killing me!
On a positive note! I keep a pair of pants (that I wore 3+ years ago) hanging in my closest. When I turn on the light, they are right in front of me!!!!!!! I couldn't even get them close to being button for quite some time. Even before I got pregnant they were tight! A few nights ago, I thought that I would test them out. I've been at a stand still with my weight loss so I wasn't getting my hopes up. To my surprise....THEY FIT, AND I COULD BUTTON THEM! They were still a little snug so I quickly hung up the pants and said, "See you soon!" What a great feeling to know that I'm making some progress! I hope everyone had a great week! For those of you with December goals....sorry ladies, but next week it will be October! Let's keep working hard! |
Kellykelly-of course you aint alone!
Well done on getting the pants on and fastened up! Thats a great achievement,be proud and keep up the goo work. When the party comes in November im sure they will fit perfectly or could need a belt!! Im having trouble with my belly too-when i stand up its not too bad-well not like it was but if im on all fours it looks like udders because it hangs down,YUK! I really hope that it shrinks some more when i lose the last 2 stone, ive gotta do some stomach exercises!!!!!!!!! Id have it sliced off if i could afford it! Im doing good this week with my diet not as great as last week but i am hoping to see a loss even if small. Its my weigh in tuesday so i will keep posted. Hope all are having a good weekend?? Starting weight- 235lbs (16st 10lb) Current weight- 167.5lbs (11st 13.5lb) Goal Weight- 140lb (10stone) |
