Fletch!!!!! you have lost your 30 lb already????? wow!!!! good for you! i still got 8 more lbs to go and with all this crazziness of summer, partying and vacation and all seems the progress is too slow! have not been eating as healthy and exercising enough, so i really can't expect a good weight loss. today is my 18 years anniversary and i kno it's going to be another crazy food day, even though i try to be carefull about my food choices, i'm not going to stress too much if i miss it either.

on a lighter note, lately, instead of big ass, my ass has been referred to as a boney ass, is that considered a progress?
Yep, I lost my 30! 32 actually. It was 33.5, but I've been having the same partying/vacationing struggles as you, so I gained 1.5 lbs. It's time to take that 1.5lbs back off and also take off the 10-15 more I want to lose!

Hope you had a good anniversary celebration...congrats! And yes, a boney ass is considered progress!!! =)

Monte - Two half marathons??? You go, girl! I'm jealous and impressed!

Vicky - Life does sometimes get in the way of our goals, but it's awesome that you're sticking with your healthy eating and didn't gain any weight! Good for you! And 2 lbs is a great loss. Keep up the good work! =)

I haven't tried the vests, but I read somewhere that using weight vests is better than ankle or wrist weights because it doesn't affect your stride or the way you naturally walk, so you're less likely to strain any muscles. Let us know if you try one out!

tracey - We all go through feelings like you're experiencing at one time or another. The good news is that those feelings will pass, and you'll be back on track before you know it! Just drink your water, eat as healthy as you can, and maybe try to get in some extra exercise. Keep your chin up!

Glad you had fun with your kiddos yesterday. You sound like a great mom! =)

Lizzycritter 08-04-2010 06:37 AM

Tracey was it a lipoma? Those are benign fatty tumors that slowly grow over time, usually not a problem unless they happen to be somewhere that's causing discomfort. Human medicine moves sooo sloooow, I hope you get some answers soon.

kellykelly77 08-05-2010 01:30 AM

Fletch - you're right! I do need to utilize the rest of August to help me get a jump start on school! With coaching in the fall, I will fall into the...."it's okay to grab junk food because I won't have time to eat" routine. :( I do it ever year. I guess I just have to make fitday part of my routine and get the constant reminders from everyone!!!!

Monte - extremely jealous! I am trying to push myself to run 2 miles a day. (After having my child 16 months ago, my body can't do it!). You rock, though!

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE for 30 lbs. It seems like there are so many of you! I"m really getting jealous. However, you all have done it....now keep helping us! It's such a great inspiration.

I've gained two, but I have been working hard this week to get it off. I will check the scale in a few days....hoping for progress.

Tonight, I can't avoid the unhealthy meal at a friend's house. He is making an Italian dinner for 10 guests. I guess it will be portion control for me (as much as I want to devour everything!)

Keep up the good work! As for everyone new......good luck!

lillyeve1 08-05-2010 04:35 AM

Just joined this yesterday, and have been putting in the calorie counter all of what I have eaten, and can't believe how many dumb carbs I have been having. I never really paid attention to calories before and finally I decided if I want to start losing weight, I need to be eating more careful and have less carbs. Like today, in the morning at 4:30am (hubby time to get up for work) I have 1 toasted honey wheat english muffin with a small spreading of butter and current jam. Then just at noon time had another english muffin with 1 egg fried egg on it ( if cooking the egg in a pan with olive oil pam spray is fried?) and a teaspoon of shredded cheddar cheese melted and 3 jalapeno slices.

And when I entered that into the food tracker thingy, was surprised that it said so many calories.

Anyways, I want to try and lose 29-30lbs if I can. Am now 139lbs. and want to get down to either 120-125lbs.

farahb7 08-06-2010 06:51 AM

Hey All!
i lost another 1.2 lbs this week, only 7.2 lbs from my GOAL!!!!!
by the way, i'm thinking to adjust my goal to drop it to 120, so i have 8 lbs wiggle room, just in case. what do you ladies think? i'm a very pettit 5 feet and so my healthy weight ranges from 94 to 128. i had it set to 125, but seems it's be cutting it to close to 128, that's why i'm thinking about adjusting my goal and i need your opinion. thank you!

fletch8502 08-06-2010 11:14 AM

Welcome, lilly! The more you use FitDay, the more you will learn what foods are surprisingly high in calories, and what low-calorie replacements you can find. Best of luck on your journey!

Farah - congrats on the 1.2 lbs! Keep up the good work! Why don't you see how you feel about your goal once you get to 125? Give yourself the chance to meet the goal you've had, celebrate that success, then decide if you want to lose a few more pounds. That's just my opinion. =)

farahb7 08-06-2010 03:46 PM

Thanks Fletch for your opinion, tha's exactly what i'm looking for, to find out from people who have reached their goal, if i should adjust it now, or leave it for later. i have changed it already a few times to 120 and set it back to 125 again, but i think you have a very valid point. i leave the goal to be 125 and see what happens next. thanks again.:)

kellykelly77 08-07-2010 05:55 AM

Oh hopefully in a few months I will be just as excited. I feel like i'm getting nowhere! I lost my first 10 and now NOTHING! I need to be more disciplined with tracking my foods.

Has anyone tried the Special K diet? My husband does it faithfully during school and has seen a difference. I just feel like I might be eating too much sugar. I love the protein shakes! It's a great way for me to get my protein especially when I just eat salads at dinner.

Any thoughts? I've completed a full week of running! Something I haven't done since my son was born over a year ago. I need to not get so depressed and demand instant results! :(

wrightangel 08-09-2010 03:41 AM

So when i did my weekly weigh in on sunday what i thought was going to happen, happened. I gained a lb. Not good Not good Not good!!!!!!!!

I want to be 140lbs by next saturday if not less as i am going out with some friends and my husband for the first time since the baby was born. Thats a minium of 2lb to lose

So plan this week is this. If i lose a lb or more i will treat myself to some new shoes to go with this dress i want to wear.

I am upping the exercise again. If i cant get out walking I will do dancing and weight lifting in the house. Although i am trying to do this on top of walking for even better results.

Just really need to watch the treats and portion control.

Normally i have been meeting the hubby in town for dinner as he works there and we usually end up getting pastys from greggs or a subway or pub meal. Now though he has his motorbike up and running so to save money and me calories he is going to come home for dinner so i get to control what i eat. So there is no excuse this week. Back to 141 by Sunday if not less. Not allowed to gain or maintain. Its lose weight or i can kiss goodbye to breakfast and lunch all next week.

fletch8502 08-09-2010 11:58 AM

kelly - Stick with it! I know it's frustrating when the scale doesn't budge, but as long as you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, the pounds will eventually come off! Being more honest and disciplined about what you're eating will probably help. You also might try exercising more while you're trying to knock out this plateau!

I would think that the Special K diet would have a lot of sugar since it's all processed foods. I don't know much about it or the products available, but that would be my thought. You might try to focus instead on getting whole foods: lean protein, fruit, vegetables, and whole grains.

Congrats on the week of running! You're seeing progress, even if it's not showing on the scale right at this minute! Keep up the good work.

wrightangel - You can lose 2 lbs in one week. Sounds like you've got a good plan to make that happen. Also make sure that you're getting plenty of water (at least 8 glasses a day!) so that you're not retaining any water weight.

One note...in my humble opinion, it's not the end of the world if for some reason you don't lose 2 lbs by the weekend! As long as you're being healthy and treating your body well, that matters more than the number on the scale. Maybe you can reward yourself if you eat well and exercise every day instead of if you lose the weight? Just a thought!

Also, please don't swear off breakfast and lunch no matter what the scale says! You need breakfast to start your metabolism and give you energy to get through the day. Lunch keeps your metabolism going and carries you through to dinner. If you skip meals early in the day, you're more likely to go overboard during dinner and at night, which isn't what you want to do!

Just my opinion. Best of luck!

tirannie 08-10-2010 07:35 AM

Day two!

So I've been the type that always had a little extra weight, but not really that much... so even when I started going to the gym or running or eating better, I'd never really stick to it because it wasn't that big of a deal if I didn't.

Now that I'm out of uni and not walking to school everyday and waitressing all night (who knew that burned so many calories!), and sit on my butt in an office everyday, my weight just goes up and up and up.

Since I can no longer fit comfortably into the majority of my pants, and have been asked on a couple of occasions "when are you due?", I've realized the couple of pounds has turned into like, 30+ and I've just been turning a blind eye. Office ass? Yes. I have a case.

So I've started monitoring my food intake (calories IN must be less than calories OUT. It's damned brilliant, I tell you) and hitting the gym - 25 minutes of cardio, 40 minutes of strength training - in the morning. I am not a morning person. It is not pretty.

That all being said, I am currently 25, 5'3 and 145 lbs. I've officially crept into the overweight category on the BMI scale for women of my height. I would like to have the littler me back. Partially because of the aesthetics, partially because I do not want to buy all new clothes for work to accomodate my growing waistline. I'm Scottish, so sue me.

The goal is to be down to 110 by Dec 21st (my birthday). It's a steep curve, but I have a supportive partner and friends and I'm hoping the willpower will follow: once I start hitting the gym, I am hungry ALWAYS (oh yeah, if you have tips on how not to be a raving food monster after early morning gym time that goes beyond "drink lots of water", I am all ears).

Frankly, I don't care if I hit my goal on time and at weight... as long as I am under 130, I think I can live with it. I just thought I'd go all out any try to re-live my post-high school body. ;)

Started: 145
Current: 145
Goal: 110

Good luck, me.

fletch8502 08-10-2010 11:36 AM

Hello and welcome, tiranne!

Thanks for making me laugh...you seem to have a great sense of humor, and I could relate to a lot of what you said!

Getting down to 110 by December is possible. I lost 30 lbs in 3.5 months through exercise and healthy eating. The weight will come off quickly at first and slower later, so just beware of that as you get closer to your goal.

Best of luck!

4under5 08-12-2010 12:36 PM

I'm new here

I am new here.... um let's see. I am 28 and I was skinny all my life, never had to worry about eating. Never even cared much about eating. And then I got pregnant with my first son. I gained nearly 50 pounds. After I had him the weight melted off in four months. I had two more sons and again the weight melted off. I gained less in those pregnancies and had small babies. My fourth son is another story. I suddenly started to love food and gained another 40 pounds. He was born weighing nearly 10 pounds. He is nearly one year old and it has NOT melted off this time so it is time to get proactive on losing it. I am still breastfeeding him 8-10 times per day and the weight still stubbornly clings on.
So, I plan to start monitoring and restricting my caloric intake. I eat way more than I used to. I also bought a treadmill and have started doing a half hour each day split up into ten minutes sessions three times per day. I walk and run alternating.
Current weight: 155
Goal: 125-130
I was 115 when we got married but hubby says I was too skinny.
I have also become a much better cook than I used to be and that has been bad on the waist line. I started taking an acai supplement too. Don't know if it will help but I can hope, can't I?

Lizzycritter 08-12-2010 04:11 PM

I get hungry after the gym too, but I gotta eat breakfast anyway so I plan on breakfast right after gym time. Something high protein, usually 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg scrambled, maybe with some veggies thrown in, a piece of fruit or some whole grain toast. Or if you're going to be eating in the car on the way to work, an egg white sandwich on an english muffin maybe?

I wasn't about to buy new work pants either. I wear scrubs. Realizing your drawstring waist tentbag pants are tight in the thighs is a heck of a wakeup call.

traceymc1985 08-13-2010 01:04 AM

Hello everyone im back!!!!

Right after a couple of weeks of not doing too good and feeling a bit depressed for not sticking to it im ready to start my journey for the final time and get to my goal.
Thankyou all for the words of support about my daughter. I have an appointment on monday at the doctors to discuss what will happen now. I will find out more about what the problem is but i hope that all will be sorted soon and she will be ok. Aparantly it is a piece of fatty tissue that didnt develop properly in the womb. They say its not connected to any organs but the surgeon will tell me more. She has problems with her digestion and finds it hard to empty her bowels so its no coincidence with her having the lump about 3 inches from her belly button. They have ruled out a hernia. It hasnt grown in the years since she was born but is more visible when she is bloated after a meal. I will keep you all posted!
As for my diet ive started slim fast today to give me a boost. I know that when i get to my goal i wont put on the weight again so i just have to stay determined to get there. Ive had a banana shake with skimmed milk. I will have 2 snacks at 100cals,2 shakes 420cals and a 600cal evening meal a day. I will aim to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day although this is something ive got to get in the habit of, i will add a little no added sugar dilute to help me drink it though.
Does tea count towards my fluid?? I have skimmed milk and no sugar and usually have 5 or 6 cups a day!

avelina 08-13-2010 06:25 AM

Tracey, I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't been following my plan the past few weeks and as a result, I'm 2 pounds heavier than I was two weeks ago. Stress certainly played a part in my self-sabotage but the important thing is coming back and starting again. I look at it like a long journey and we're going to slip up from time to time, but as long as we keep trying and don't give up, we're going to get there.
I hope your daughter is going to be okay. I'm sure you'll have relief once you have a diagnosis and know what to do for her.

traceymc1985 08-13-2010 11:51 PM

Thankyou avelina you are right once i find out the news and what they will do i will be much more focused on losing weight. The fact she is only 5 and has speech problems its hard to fully understand how it affects her.
Also because i nearly aborted her but only because i was going through a violent relationship with my ex and already had a 10 month old. I didnt though and im truly glad that i walked out of the clinic and i have her here and love her so much. Real little character and full of personality. I kind of feel like its Gods way of punishing me for considering it and having slight post-natal depression i abandoned her a bit and didnt give her much time so i blame myself for her speech not being as clear as it should. I regret all of this and am trying hard over last few years to make it up to her. I feel so guilty. Im really sorry to share this with everyone, esoecially as its supposed to support weight loss but i just want people to see into my head and understand that what my daughter is going through is much deeper. I just really want her fit and well but cant help thinking the worst. But isnt that normal to be scared of what could happen and feeling like its my fault.

Lizzycritter 08-14-2010 02:56 AM

Tracey I think it's totally appropriate to bring those feelings up here. Feeling guilty and unworthy is at the heart of overeating for most of us. Some things in life are the way they are simply because they are. You didn't cause your daughter's problems, she's not being punished for things you did or didn't do. It just IS. You're trying to help her now and that's what matters, the past is in the past. You are a good person and you deserve to live a good and healthy life. Best wishes to you and your daughter.

traceymc1985 08-14-2010 05:39 AM

Thanks lizzie i always feel so much better after talking to you guys. The support i get on here is so appreciated. You guys always pull me through. Sometimes life can just be so unfair. Ive been through alot in my 25 years of life and dealt with some terrible demons. But then when another problem arises it brings up parts of my past that i had locked away. I dont want to turn to food for comfort and talking to others really stops me from piling the food in!! Thankyou again your messages-i will continue to do my best in all aspects of me and my familys lives!!

traceymc1985 08-14-2010 11:39 PM

Day 3-slim fast

well im on my third day of my new slim fast 3,2,1 and its going really good. Im really surprised at how full im feeling after having the shakes but i guess thats because of the protein. When i have my main meal on an evening i actually already cant eat as much as i could before. It feels like my stomach is shrinking. Im recognising when im full and stopping which is something i struggled with before. Im drinking my fluids which isnt that easy to get down but im trying.
We are having homemade turkey bolognaise for tea and i look forward to my main meal now as im not eating constantly throughout the day.
Im feeling determined to get to my goal-like ive said before i know that when i reach goal i will stay there. Ive stayed the same for 6-7months but i really want to reach the weight i desire!

How is everyone doing? Have we stayed on track over the weekend?

avelina 08-15-2010 06:03 AM

So far I'm on track. I'm working this weekend so it's easy for me to stay focused while I'm working. I'm trying to stay on track for the next couple of weeks since I'm moving at the end of the month and I just know there will be convenience meals out and ordering pizza. I'd like to plan for that now and have a plan to keep going after the move as well.

traceymc1985 08-15-2010 10:56 PM

Monday morning and its going okay with slim fast. Trying to resist temptation is difficult but im surviving. Got to remember that i will be able to eat them foods again when i get to goal but in the meantime im being strict on myself. I find thats the best way for me at this moment in time.
Last night we had my homemade turkey bolognaise and it was so yummy. I was very good and ddnt have no cheese on top or garlic bread. I had it in a small bowl. I did have seconds which i didnt need but i did leave out my second slim fast at lunch so calorie wise i didnt do bad.
Ive had my slim fast this morning whilst the kids were having cheese on toast. I did have a little nibble but if i wasnt on the slim fast id have had 2-3 thick slices so in that sense its helping. The kids left the crusts and instead of eating them i have give it to the birds in my back garden.
We gotta stay in today and wait for the electric man so i cant go out. Hopefully he wont be late so i can get a walk to the park with the kids. We are going to Flamingo Land theme park on Friday so we are looking forward to that.
We are having a curry tonight made from scratch so i can control the calories and i will not be having the naan breads or poppadoms. Gotta control portion size though cos curry is my ultimate vice. Just thinking about it makes me hungry.
Aiming for a good week this week-im not wasting the good work i did over the weekend!!!

Monte1 08-17-2010 01:34 AM

Hello Friends1

I've been M.I.A. for awhile because I've been training for my half, which was Saturday. Needless to say I stunk and my time was 3:30 which is 10 mins. slower than my half in May. It was so bad that a woman who had to be close to 80, if not 90 passed me while she pushed her oxygen tank. I kid you not, she was pushing a oxygen tank in a baby stroller and she blew me away. I've seen this lady at 2 previous races and I've always passed her, but not this time..no way. I tried running to catch up w/her, but my feet and thighs were killing me too much, so around mile marker 10 I said, "forget it". Anyhoot, it waws a good day for a half, perfect weather and pretty course but my body just wasn't into it. I have another half in Oct. and I swear that elderly lady better not be there!;) ha,ha.

traceymc1985 08-17-2010 01:52 AM

Hello all, im having a good run on this slim fast. I only lasted 3 days at my last stint. The cravings do set in at about 8pm but i think thats just down to habit. I gotta break that night-time snacking. It makes me pile in so many unwanted calorieswhich is probably the reason why i have been staying the same for so long! Not any more though-im getting to goal before christmas!!!! DETERMINED I AM!!!
The shakes are not that easy to get down cos im not really a milk person but once ive drank it i do stay full and satisfied for a good few hours.
Im learning to eat only when hungry and noticing when im hungry rather than just having a craving!
Im trying to drink more water but can anybody advice me why drinking so much water while losing weight is so important??

tirannie 08-17-2010 03:14 AM

Hey there ladies. Would you like to know a seceret?

... because I know one, and it is sooo good to hear it.

So! One week in and my scale is telling me I've dropped approx. 1.1 lbs. Not really the pace I wanted to set, but it's my fault for skipping the gym and playing videos games all weekend. Ha. But hey, my character is getting really buff!

Except a co-worker asked me yesterday if I am expecting, so it was back on the treadmill at 6:30 this morning.

Anyway, so the thing I really wanted to share is this awesome stuff my boyfriend picked up at the health food store. He swears by it, I'm perpetually skeptical.

So the backstory: The day after my first trip to the gym, man were my legs sore. And I was thinking to myself all day "Can I really handle feeling like this all the time? Taking a tylenol every day?". Suffice to say, I wasn't interested in walking stiffly for the next six months just so I could lose some pounds. So my boyfriend gave me his "recovery drink".

It's 12oz, tangy orange flavour and about 230 calories. BUT OMG SO WORTH IT. It helps break down the lactic acid build up in your muscles after a work out AND gives you a nice little bump of protein to start the morning. The day after the first time I tried it: no pain, no stiffness, no whining and getting myself off track.

Hurdle number one: removed!

Just thought I could share my little discovery with you, in case being sore was keeping you from getting to the gym!

Hope everyone out there is doing well!

Monte1 08-17-2010 04:57 AM

What's the name of the tangy orange stuff? I'm still sore from my half marathon on Sat. and could use a drink (of the tangy orange stuff, that is). lol;)

tirannie 08-17-2010 08:08 AM

It's called Endurox R4 and it's by a company called Pacific Health Labratory inc.

To get the best results out of it, you drink it right ater your workout. However, it does have a lot of sugar in... so if you're on a low-sugar diet, it's probably not for you.

kellykelly77 08-19-2010 11:12 PM

Well ladies, it seems as though many of you are making progress. The half marathon makes me feel like I'm totally lazy. I've been trying to get up the courage to run with my team (I coach field hockey), but I feel like I'm so out of shape. I'll just stick to running with my husband. It's been a week since I last ran, and I've put on 2.3 lbs. :( I'm going in the wrong direction quickly. I guess I need to discipline myself more and stay positive. Today is a new day!

avelina 08-20-2010 07:09 AM

Friday's my weigh-day, and I'm down just over 2 pounds! YAY! I've been working hard this week to stay within my calorie range, plus I started my running plan again. I'm feeling great! Let's hope I can keep it up this weekend-it's my weekend off and that's always the hardest! I have a BBQ tonight and birthday party lunch tomorrow.

Monte1 08-20-2010 08:14 AM

Congratulations Avelina, keep up the good work.

Kelly, don't be discouraged, just keep doing what you're doing and you'll see results!

I have been sick since my half last Sat. some sort of stomach virus, so I have not worked out since Wed. Im hoping to feel better tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!:o

aknittedfrenzy 08-22-2010 03:35 PM

Hello,

I'm new. I'm Kimberly and my goal is to lose 30lbs by Christmas. My husband will be starting Medifast this week to lose 50lbs by the same time. I will be doing my own thing... tracking my food and going to the gym. I injured my knee and have bursitis in my hip so the gym is slow going right now while I'm working with a physical therapist. I'm 5'8", 185lbs, the highest weight I've ever been. My husband loves my curves so I don't want to lose those but really want to be in shape to get pregnant in the next year. I also want to be a support to my husband while he loses weight. He's diabetic and used to work as a chef. We both love food but need to stop overeating. I'd love for him to get off of some of his medications due to the diabetes too. Hoping and praying! Thanks everyone. :)

windios 08-24-2010 02:54 AM

Joining in

Hi all -- this looks like a good group!

I'm joining in as I get started (again) on this 25-30 pounds that HAS TO GO. I just took my measurements, and that's it, I'm mad enough to get going. I'm 56, so it goes off a lot harder, and I have never been this big. Can't wait to see it leaving.

I commit to 100 days of tracking and sticking with my calorie and exercise goals -- the book "100 Days of Weight Loss" gives a short journal topic for each day, and it looks like it will be helpful. Anyone else want to try it?

I won't make my journal public for now, but will post here on weigh-in days and track how many days I have kept with the 100-day goal. I like Fitday and hope it will help. I especially like the wide variety of exercise items -- makes it easier to track activity.

So -- thanks for being there!

aknittedfrenzy 08-25-2010 01:08 AM

I'm a journaler by nature, windios, so I'll writing along with you in my own way. :)

Well, I jumped on the scale today and I've lost my first 5 pounds! Now I've lost these first 5 before but I want them to stay gone this time.

One thing I've noticed on fitday that I didn't notice on other online food tracking sites is that I'm not eating as many calories as I thought. 'Course I turned down the banana bread that someone brought into the office and I've sworn off fast food (the fast food unit I'm teaching right now might have something to do with that.) But I'm pleased. Cautiously pleased. :)

5 down, 25 to go! :)

windios 08-25-2010 10:56 AM

First couple of days going well -- I have kept track, and stayed within a good calorie range. I find the FitDay food catalogue to be sorely lacking, though. I have to put in every ingredient rather than being able to find "vegetable stir fry" or other things like that.

Too much sitting - all day meetings -- but will get some more exercise tomorrow. It has been a long one today, and I'll get a walk tonight, but not much more than that.

I hope everyone is doing great and keeping on track!

wrkrbee33 08-25-2010 11:12 AM

Hi, I'm new too. I agree with you on the whole food tracking thing. wish it were easier. I also am finding I'm not eating as many calories as I thought, turns out spinach and watermelon and other fruits and vegies I snack on don't have too many calories,so after I track my food online, I find that I have to eat something with more calories but still low in sugar. I am trying to eat 4oz protien 1/2 plate of vegies (carb) and one healthy fat (olive oil, avacados, walnuts, fish oil capsule, etc.) per meal. It is easy once you get used to it. good luck with your weightloss goals! : }

Egads, I fell off the wagon!

In a really bad way this past week. Well, not so horrible, but I haven't been to the gym in a while. Like, a week. A solid week.

That being said, I haven't upped my eating or anything, so the healthy food has stayed pretty stable. I still don't want to hop on the scale, though. I know it won't be good!

I don't see this weekend being any better: between Lady Gaga, after parties and a house warming, I'm going to be tempted with many, many unnecessary calories until Sunday.

But, on the plus side, I bought a puppy to help keep me active on the days I just don't feel like it. Ender won't be reasoned away from the leash because I had an off day at work. lol.

Welcome everyone! It's so nice to see more people joining. I've been missing again for the past 2 weeks. I've been so busy that I don't even remember eating! That's bad because I know if I did eat it wasn't healthy foods! : ( Many of you have been encouraging me to stick with this.....I'M TRYING! I start work on Monday. It'll be the true test as I will be gone from 6:30 am to 7:00pm every day! I have to fit in family time and exercising after 7. This is going to be the tough part. Perhaps I will just have to find creative ways to exercise with my 17month old son. If any of you are teachers, you'll know that I even will have work to do before going to bed!

But, I am going to stay positive. Yes, tracking calories on here is difficult. I try to keep up with it as much as possible. Oh. since I'm a coffee drinker (mainly to fight off my lack of sleep when I go back to work) do any of you drink green tea (hot or cold)? I've thought about that in place of my coffee.

2 pounds heavier.......not good. I have a lot of work to do.

Hi There!

Welcome to all newbies and I'm glad see we're all tryint to stick with some program. I too would like to loose 30, or close to it, by Dec. Not sure if that's doable, but I do want to get as close to 30 as I can. I started working out in the water, to reduce pressure on my knees, and I love it! First I do 30 mins. of arm workout, with water weights, then I jog in the pool and swim by using a kick board. The entire routine takes me an hour and I feel great after that workout. Let's hope I keep it up!

Hello all

Great to see so many people I can relate to with similar goals!

I am 172lbs and would absolutely love to get to around 140/147 for the new year, I said this last year and have just kept on yo yoing through eating and weight gain/loss. You know when you have had enough but run out of motivation, well that is me. I look back over the past couple of years and see what worked well for me and it seems that calorie counting was really good and pretty simple to follow. May try this again.

I was 147lbs two years ago and felt fab but have allowed the weight to creep on well no actually pile on, my weight goes on really quickly. I blamed a new job/stress and would love to learn how to beat all those triggers which send me on a slippery slope. The key for me two years ago was exercise at the same time as cutting out the rubbish food, exercise did me good in all sorts of ways. Any motivation/tips greatly appreciated. I tend to binge on crisp/choc right now and have got into this awful habit again.

Thanks.

New here--finally hit bottom and grabbin' the bootstraps!

Hi all,
I'm so happy to find this forum!!! I have finally reached the point where I MUST take control. I imagine you all know exactly what I'm talking about, or you wouldn't be on this forum. :D

I've had a tough last two years, and I just stopped exercising and eating right--not a great way to cope with adversity--and it's time to take my life back!

I stepped on the scale this AM and weighed 191 lbs and need to lose at least 30 pounds. I feel pretty comfortable and look good at about 160-165 lbs.

I look forward to getting to know all of you gals, and and eager to get started on my weight loss journey immediately.

Can any of you who have been working to lose weight for a while tell all of us new folks what your best advice would be?
