Check in for Wednesday:
1. Enter foods for *every* day, including the weekends. - Yes
2. Keep calories under 2,000 - Yes
3. Physical therapy for my wrist 3x/day - No, stretching 3x, weights 1x
Hmmm... I just don't have time to do my wrist weights 3x in the evening after work, so I'm going to have to get another set of weights for work, or find something that's roughly 2 lbs in my office.
My date canceled last night. I was really bummed.
But he wants to reschedule so we'll see how that goes. And while I did eat a couple of disappointment cookies, I didn't completely blow the calorie count for yesterday which was good.
Oh - and I've sorted out my scale so that this morning when I weighed myself it was 210. Again... I'm still in the calibrating my scale phase so I have no idea if I've lost anything in the past two weeks... but it's a good start.

quinn: What a completely lovely story about your Mom and such kindness! It put a much-needed smile on my face, thank you!
jj: Glad your daughter made a decision, but it just sounds like the hits keep on coming for you! Sheesh. I wish you some peace.
Mike: No, I haven't tried any other brands. I'll see if they even have more at my grocery store -- sometimes I'm pretty oblivious about what's on the shelves
Cassie: Aw shucks, thanks. I'm really just trying to get a base of recipes that I feel I could modify easily. The mango chicken last night was a snap, and I could probably use it for any fruit (maybe peaches...mmm...they'll be coming into season soon!). A good way to get myself fruit and put color on the plate. Your goals are looking great!
Mern: So happy to hear about your good news - or at least that there doesn't seem to be more that you have to deal with
You know, I bet it is nerve pain. My dad's lived with nerve pain for about 20 years now, and he often describes it as a burning sensation. I'm really happy you got your peace of mind AND kudos! BF just has some residual stiffness in his neck, thanks for asking
He was finally able to sleep well last night.
I've fainted many times in my life - it's due to my low blood pressure, or so the doctors believe. I have it really well-managed now and I tend to know what sets me off. I'm worst in the heat (moving to Florida was a GREAT idea) and right when I get up in the morning. I have to get up slowly, and I can't take morning showers - jumping in a hot shower is a one-way ticket to fainting in the tub (which I have done 5 times. Luckily, I've sort of crumpled down and not teetered over and whacked my head). I've also fainted at the beach and in hot buildings, and I think a couple of times on really crowded subway or trains. Never at work, though ALMOST once...I was able to see my "signs" and sit down before I completely fainted. It's a three-step process for me. First, my limbs go tingly. Then, I go deaf (literally lose all hearing, it's quite scary). If I can sit or lay down at the "deaf" stage, I usually won't faint. If I get to stage 3 (yellow vision), I'm a-goin' down, and the best I can do is to try and find a wall so I don't smack onto the floor, lol. I don't think I've gone all the way out in a couple years now, since I've been really trying to work on monitoring my body.
Actually, funny story - the very first time I fainted, I was in church. I was one of the first female alter servers in my state (Catholic raising). I was actually bringing up the wine to the priest to be blessed, and it was a really hot, muggy July day. I remember climbing the altar, and then getting dizzy and things going yellow, and BAM, I fainted in the middle of the altar on the church. I'm sure it was a great religious experience
I woke up in one of the changing rooms off to the side with the priest and a few concerned parishioners. The worst part was, my parents weren't at mass, so I had to wait all freaked out for half an hour until they could pick me up! I think I was 13.
Wednesday Report Card
Food, Exercise and Lifestyle Goals:
1) Achieve a 3500 calorie deficit from food alone M: -784 T: -790 W: -838 (Week Total: -2,412)
2) Exercise 3x this week (health depending) and record exercise deficit here M: N/A T: N/A W: N/A
3) Achieve a 30% protein average for the week M: 27% T: 28% W: 29% (Weekly average 28%)
4) Carbs at or below 50% average for the week M: 44% T: 44% W: 40% (Weekly average 42.6%)
5) Five servings of fruits and veggies a day M: 2 T: 3 W: 3
6) Drink a gallon (128 fl oz.) of water daily M: No (120) T: yes W: no (104)
7) Report here each and every day M: Day after T: Day after W: Day after
8) No takeout food at all (exception: lab meeting always has pizza. I can't avoid this) M: No takeout T: Fail. W: No takeout
Other Life Stuff:
1) Handle stress directly and appropriately M: Yes, and I felt so professional! T: Yes W: Yes, but it's making me tired.
2) Work on my embroidery for at least five hours M: No T: No W: I tried, but no.
3) Do not weigh all week, until next Monday M: Avoided scale T: Avoided! W: Avoided
4) Try two new recipes M: No T: No W: Yes (Mango chicken with a spice blend)
5) "Smile more, bitch less" M: Yes! T: Big yes W: I tried
Feeling very, very BLAH today and also was yesterday, though I blame TOTM. I was just getting over my allergy-induced asthma symptoms and now I have a case of the aches and the tireds and the BLAHS. It's going to be a real challenge to get up my motivation to work out today - especially since I haven't all week, and when I fall out of the routine, it takes a kick in the butt to get me back on the horse. I didn't eat much yesterday (you can see from the deficit and water) and I think it's added to my general lack of energy today. I'll figure out a way to push through it. I may even take a nap if I get home early enough from work. I'm not normally much for napping because it throws my sleep off, but once in a long while I do feel like I need one.
I tried to pep myself up by looking pretty today, too. We'll see if it helps!

jjeand, I would be really nervous too. Accreditation is critical if she wants to be registered, and if she wants to make a decent living as an architect, she needs to be registered, especially as a female in a completely male dominated field. Before it's a done deal I would be on the phone with NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) and IDP (Intern Development Program) to see how they feel about the chances of the program becoming accredited, the smooth talking chairman was hired for his pretty face, please keep in mind it's his job to smooze you and get your money.
FYI typically you can't transfer credits to an accredited program from one that is not accredited, so if they don't get their ducks in a row, she's back to square one - literally. Most new programs that I've seen start with a transfer program agreement with another university. So the first class goes 2 years at the new school and has the option of transferring to an accredited school to finish. If they don't have a safety net in place like that, you might have DD rethink her decision. Seriously. Otherwise it could be a lot of wasted time and money. Architecture is hard enough without the extra heartbreak of not having the right pedigree.
There are several unaccredited programs here in MI, and I've met hundreds of people that have graduated from those programs, and work their hearts out day in and day out, with all the talent you could hope for, but they will never make partner because they don't qualify to take the ARE (Architectural Registration Exam). Consequently they can't ever call themselves "Architects" because without the license it's illegal to do so, and generally speaking they make a lot less money than the registered ones do. We're not talking $4000-$5000 less a year here, we're talking $15,000-$20,000 less per year.

Almeeker: Thanks for the references to keep an eye on things. I'm feeling fairly confident in SDSU as it will be the only architecture program in the state. The state has been working on getting program set up here for a while. Still, after her first year she may transfer to NDSU for the 5 year program and will be done in 6 years total. If we are still feeling confident she can continue at SDSU through her 4 yr degree then decide about staying for her MArch or applying elsewhere for the masters degree needed for cert. It would likely become a 7 year process that way but we'll see. Please correct me if I've misunderstood any of the processes.

Hi Everyone!
Sorry I haven't been around much. It's just been really busy around here mixed with some really hard electrical storms every day this week. Tried to keep the laptops unplugged as much as possible.
Tomorrow's going to be another crazy day getting ready for the weekend.
Doing well with my eating this week... not the cleanest, but actually too low in calories. Not sure why. I've been logging last thing of the day instead of logging as I go. Whenever I do this, I always think that I've eaten more than I actually have. When I get it all figured out, usually right before bed, I find out that I've eaten a lot fewer calories than I thought I did.
Grocery shopping in the morning... have to come up with some healthy, new, creative ideas. Did another rotisserie chicken on the grill tonight that was soooo good! Had to sneak it in for an hour in between thunder storms.
Cassie,
Hope you're enjoying your break and that your son is enjoying Disney! Daughter had a great time, but she said their uniforms weren't meant for Florida heat.

Thanks, everyone for your kind words. I can live with this suspected nerve damage from my head bump--the hardest thing was not knowing if it was something worse. I can handle the burning sensation and limited pain without meds and I don't have a martyr complex. Time for me to move on.
I'll try to catch up with you all tomorrow. Just has been such a busy day that I didn't have time to to chat and blew my calories, protein, and carbs by not doing a good job keeping track of what I ate.
Goodnight.

Mern, no worries. You'll get it back.
Quinn, yes, I am totally enjoying myself. Hubby's home now; we had a wonderful Thai dinner, then walked/jogged it off, have our day hike planned out for tomorrow, and will hit the farmer's market and natural food store on Saturday. It feels really good not to be thinking about work at all! I hope you get some down time, too...and get some fun planned for Saturday
