Panthothenic acid, or vitamin B5, is part of the B-group of vitamins. These vitamins help the body to do several functions. It is most known for its ability to release energy from the foods we eat and decrease the negative side effects of stress. Below you will find out about these and other benefits that are invaluable to the human body.

Synthesizer

Vitamin B5 synthesizes or creates many bodily components. The vitamin helps to form red blood cells, nuerotransmitters, fats, proteins, carbohydrates, antibodies, lipids and more.

Nutrient Absorber

Pantothenic acid helps to produce energy from the food we consume because it helps to maintain a healthy digestive system, which breaks down carbohydrates, fats, lipids and various amino acids. Additionally, it increases omega-3 fatty acid levels, vitamin D production and zinc levels.

"Anti-Stress" and "Immune Booster" Vitamin

The fact that this vitamin works to decrease stress and helps to create antibodies, which are proteins in the immune system that fight bacteria and viruses, is no coincidence. Stress often weakens our immune system and makes us vulnerable to illness. However, pantothenic acid enhances the immune system and regulates stress-related hormones to ensure a healthy state of mind. The production of more antibodies also aid in healing. Wounds recover faster and bacterial infections become less likely.

Hemoglobin Helper

Pantothenic acid is also known to improve hemoglobin levels in the body. Hemoglobin are proteins found in red blood cells that transport oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body.

Stamina Builder

Athletes who work to maintain a healthy stamina can benefit from pantothenic acid, which reduces fatigue and prolongs the body's ability to undergo physical stress. This vitamin can help the body to perform well in various exercises.

Maintains a Healthy Heart

Pantothenic acid is well known for its ability to lower cholesterol and maintain normal blood pressure. Also, recent studies have shown that the vitamin can raise "good" cholesterol. The results are encouraging for people who suffer from heart problems.

Reduces Acne

Although not scientifically proven, the vitamin has gained popularity in treating acne. The acid actively breaks down skin oils that build up and clog pores. It's stress fighting power may be related to the vitamin's ability to improve skin appearance as well. Research studies have shown that panthothenic acid also increases the level of zinc in the human body and has an anti-inflammatory effect. The result is a reduction in acne breakouts and pimple size.

Water Soluble

Vitamin B5 is a water-soluble nutrient, which means that it  is not stored in the body and must be replaced every day. Therefore, it's difficult to have toxic levels of this vitamin in the body. Any excess will usually pass through urine. The result is a vitamin that is safe for all different age groups and genders.

Pantothenic acid is an essential vitamin that delivers numerous benefits for the human body. Make sure to replenish this vitamin daily to maintain great health.
