The Best Workouts to Do Before Heading to the Office

Getting in a morning workout can be tough, but it can be an amazing way to start your day! Not only does it wake you right up, but it’ll get your metabolism firing on all cylinders and keep you energized all morning long.

Want to fit in a morning training session? Here are the best workouts to do before heading to the office.

Stretching

Yeah, we’re going to start things slow for those who aren’t “morning people.” A stretching routine can help to loosen up sore muscles and achy joints and can help you to deal with the pain of incorrect sleep posture or that crick in your neck from your crappy pillow. Plus, it will give you a little jolt of energy that will fire you up for a day of work but won’t tire you out too quickly.

Yoga

Yoga is a great workout to both limber up and get your muscles working. You can do more sedentary yoga if you want to just work out the kinks in your body, or you can get into a Power Yoga or Hot Yoga class on the days you need to fire up your metabolism. Yoga will help you get into the office in a nice, relaxed state, but with energy and enhanced concentration for all of your daily tasks.

Morning Walk

What could be more wonderful than an early morning walk in the park, along the beach, or by the river? Walking doesn’t use too much of your energy, but it will perk you right up and get your metabolism working to produce energy. Have a morning walk then a shower and nice breakfast, and you’ll feel like a million bucks when you head off to work.

Run

Yeah, time to hit the morning workouts a bit harder! You may not have a time for a full hour-long run, but you can easily fit in a quick jog or sprint training session. Running first thing in the morning activates your body’s fat-burning mechanisms and helps you to get active right away. Definitely a good way to start out!

Cycle

Cycling can double as both your morning workout and your means of transportation to work. Cycling to work not only saves gas, but it’s far cheaper in the long run and gives you a killer workout every morning and afternoon.

Resistance Training

Resistance training first thing in the morning is a great way to get your body blasting through energy reserves (fat) and kicking your metabolism into high gear. Working out in a fasted state (without breakfast) can force your body to tap into fat stores, thereby encouraging far more effective fat burning than with a late-afternoon workout. It may be tough to start your day at the gym, but SO worth it!

Bodyweight Workout

A bodyweight workout is a perfect compromise if you don’t want to hit the gym but still need to get active in the morning. Set yourself a goal of doing 50 push-ups, 75 squats, and 100 crunches, and keep doing it every morning until you get it.

Start the day out right with one of these awesome workouts, and you’ll feel like a champion all day long!
