Beauty Tips for the Gym so That You Can Multitask Your Workout

Following these tips can help you squeeze in a beauty regimen and a workout to maximize your time!

The most common excuse for not hitting the gym is a lack of time. You know what else takes time? Those weekly beauty treatments that you seem to chronically skip, like facial masks, deep conditioning treatments and exfoliating. To help you get in your workout and your beauty regimen while still making it to work on time, check out these tips for before, during and after your workout.

Before:

Just as you put your workout clothes out the night before, stock your gym bag full of beauty products that you'll need for various beauty treatments: deep conditioner/hair mask, hairband / hair tie / face wipes / dry shampoo / face mask.

During:

Working out is a great time to do a time-consuming beauty treatment like a mask. Some masks even work better with heat, so take a hot yoga class or do the mask on your cardio day for the best results. Also, make sure that you only use a mask if you plan to shower afterwards. If you don't plan to shower, then skip the pre-workout mask.

For a hair mask:

  1. Give your hair a quick brush
  2. Apply your product—deep conditioner / mask—or coconut or olive oil
  3. Style your hair into a tight bun or braid.
  4. Use a hairband or sweatband to keep the product from running onto your face and back and getting into your eyes.
  5. Work out as usual, letting the product work while you workout

For a facemask, you'll probably only want to do a thin, clear mask product, anything that won't scare your fellow gym bunnies. If you workout at home, or workout at home on some days, then feel free to use a sheet mask or clay mask that could frighten others. Apply the mask and then workout with it on.

After:

The secret to getting a hair mask or oil treatment out of your hair is to apply the shampoo before you wet it. Use your favorite shampoo and then wash it out in the shower.

Use a dry towel / shower cap / or plastic bag to keep your hair dry on days that you don't want to shower. Use a disposable wipe to get rid of sweat that can clog pores and cause breakouts. Spritz a saltwater spray on your roots to eliminate sweat and smells or use a dry shampoo to bring your hair back to life.

Use a q-tip to eliminate any raccoon eyes that might have occurred and then follow with your usual or semi-usual makeup routine, depending on your time.
