6 Drinks Besides Coffee to Start Your Day off Right

Don't talk to me until I've had my morning cup of kombucha!

Most of us crawl out bed and head to the kettle, eyes half-open, in a desperate attempt to get a dose of caffeine in the morning. But despite coffee being a great pick me up, it’s also not the only solution, and there are many other alternatives to drink if you want to start the day off right.

Warm Water And Lemon Will Get You Hydrated

The most obvious way to feel energized would be to get enough sleep at night, at least six hours, but we all know that’s not always possible. A great alternative then would be to start your morning off with water. Water is essential for hydration, but it can also help boost energy levels, and according to Best Life Online, you can have a drink of hot water with lemon in the morning for an energy boost.

Coconut Water Will Leave You With a Refreshing Taste

If regular water doesn’t appeal to you first thing in the morning, then you could try coconut water (especially from Thai coconuts), which according to LifeHack, can increase the body’s energy levels because it contains potassium and minerals.

Tea Has Added Benefits, In Addition to Less Caffeine

Black tea or green tea could also be a good alternative to coffee, and although tea does contain caffeine, it does not have as much as coffee does, yet will still give you the boost you need. There are also other health benefits associated with green tea as it contains Catechins, a natural antioxidant.

Wheatgrass is A Natural Energizer

It may not be the most delicious shot you’ll ever have, but wheatgrass juice is a very healthy way to start the day. According to Shape, the beverage is a natural energizer which is easily digestible and filled with vitamins and minerals.

Try Something Tart but Tasty

A more delicious alternative to wheatgrass juice is pomegranate juice, which is tart but tasty. According to Shape, pure pomegranate juice is rich in energy and antioxidants. This juice, unlike many other fruit juices, won’t spike your blood sugar, and according to Her World, won’t leave you craving sugar of feeling sluggish in the mid-afternoon.

Probiotics and Vitamin B Are Found in Kombucha

Kombucha may be an acquired taste for some, but this fermented green tea drink is delicious and filled with probiotics and vitamins, including Vitamin B which can help to boost energy, Her World reports. According to LifeHack, B Vitamins play an important role in the body’s metabolism and are necessary for producing energy.
