Hello everyone!

This week I am up. But I am OK with that- I know this weekend I could of worked harder. 194.

I am logging everything I eat on my phone app which i love- hopefully my loyal tracking will help me say no to the sweets!

I could make up a bunch of great reasons for not losing weight this week but...in the end there just excuses.

I am trying harder this week

Kaitlin, I think that's a healthy approach--if I don't lose I generally know why. It's best to acknowledge it and move on. Excuses are pointless in this endeavor. I'm sure you'll do better this week!

Michael

Heading to camp tomorrow for the long weekend so decided to weigh in this morning. After two cups of coffee the scale reported 240.5 so I'm calling it an even 240 for the record.

Now I suspect that after three days at camp I'll need a week to remove any temporary alcohol and good food related gains. But, if the black flies (the Maine State Bird ) allow I'll get some good walking in to at least partially offset the excess calorie intake.

With eight pounds left to meet the Challenge goal I think things are looking good. The daily two mile jog is paying off and I'm making every attempt to otherwise stay as active as possible.

Have a great week everyone and make the best of our remaining five weeks 'till the 4th!

Regards,
Michael

Ha ha--that WON'T be a problem!

I'm thinking more tequila, less beer this time. And, I do try not to go overboard. I realize that alcohol, besides being very bad for weight loss itself also causes my food conscience to be greatly impaired (though not entirely eliminated) so I'm more prone to overeat the awesome food we always have.

On the not-so-bad side, we don't do any "junk" food at camp--lots of great protein (prime rib, roast chicken, tenderloin and the like). My biggest weakness is the most delicious fresh steak fries we make at least once--add some vinegar and catsup, OMG I can put those away!

In any case, I keep track as best I can and get the ugly results into FitDay as soon as circumstances allow.

Regards,
Michael

Have a great time at camp, Michael! Those steak fries sound delicious, you're making my mouth water!

Thanks, and sorry for posting "food porn"! My friend that owns the camp does guiding and is an awesome cook. There is a big commercial Vulcan gas range that we cook on and everything is so tasty.

Luckily we only do fries one night and camp is the only place I eat them anymore. We go to Red Robin once in a great while and I immediately give my fries to someone else so I won't be tempted to partake. In days past I would eat at least three baskets of them, if not more .

Regards,
Michael

Haha- Michael, "food porn" happens. I'm just having a hungry sort of day and unfortunately just ate cereal for breakfast instead of my usual proteins - the carbs are burned off and I'm hungry again!

I hear you on the fries - anytime I can avoid a fry basket, or a cheesesticks basket, or any kind of pop-in-your-mouth appetizer I consider it a huge victory Other people wonder why I get so chuffed, haha!

Michael mentioning Red Robin reminded me that their Nutrition Information section of their website is a very clever and useful tool. You can deconstruct any menu item and it will change the illustration and recalculate the nutrition information. I was able to alter their grilled chicken sandwich to an acceptable level and they even brought it to me in a lettuce wrap.

I agree, though I wish they would provide a complete list of all the choices first. Many of them are so over the top it's not even worth modifying. I usually go for the chicken breast or the fish burger w/no mayo or tarter sauce. Still plenty of cals, though.

Michael
