Sexy Girls Club!

We have a great group going in the other thread about feeling sexy again. So I thought I would start an "official" thread. Now we have our own group :p

All ladies are welcome, especially if you feel how we have talked about in the other thread. We want to feel confident, sexy and beautiful again. Our weight loss goal is a big part of this, but also we are talking about keeping ourselves healthy and re-focusing on what we need/want as women. We get so caught up in being moms, wives, employees, etc. Now we can remind each other to lose weight and be healthy for US. We deserve it and will feel better, and be a better person to all our loved ones.

Let's bring our sexy back!

JRamirez24 01-07-2010 02:14 AM

No more feeling frumpy and unattractive, this year will be the year of changes for so many of us...

Let get out sexy back ;)

krstnabean 01-07-2010 06:39 AM

I'm in!
EDIT: I know I'm trying to do this for me as an individual, but my 3-year-old is a great workout buddy. After 15 minutes of yoga, 20 minutes of pilates, and 20 minutes with Carmen Electra's Striptease video, he yells "MORE YOGA, MOMMY!" until we go through our AM Yoga one more time.

msmarilyn3 01-07-2010 08:34 AM

That's funny! Your kid sounds cute:) I don't think you'll have very far to go to get your sexy back ...with all that exercize and Carmen Electra's strip tease too cool :) Girl, I think you've gotta already be there ha-ha! I'm just excited I made it to the gym I didn't do a full workout but it was my first day back in a year and ya know what I think exercizing is very sexy !

Hey who woulda thought that Destiny would bring all us sexy girls together? ha-ha! Get Destiny as in fate and Destiny as a person....well I kinda thought it was funny :) If you haven't guessed I'm a bit of a goof ball! Well one thing that wasn't funny- more like pathetic was my workout today at the gym.....I'm soooo out of shape. But I've decided that exercising is the new IN thing to do if you want to be SEXY so I'll be back at the gym tomorrow :) All the best to us Sexy girls hang in there :)

Here's to bringing SEXY back!

armywife022 01-08-2010 04:29 AM

Hi

Well, I have started this several times. The first time was to just get smaller. My husband is attracted to the athletic build (not that he is pushing me) and I want to be just that for him (and me, I am not going to lie, the prospect of looking great in workout shorts is something I enjoy). I am lucky in my body. I distribute weight evenly and have a decent body shape. Problem is, I am distributing too much weight. I am 5'3" 157 lbs, well above the healthy weight range. My goal weight is 125 lbs by July 30th. Very doable. And keep in mind, with my very tiny frame, 125 lbs would not make me look too thin. But my reasons for this goal are different now. Of course I still want to be sexy, and I am not going to lie, that is the big one. But also, I have had two consecutive miscarriages, and while my doctor does not think my weight is a factor, I can't help but feel guilty about getting pregnant when I knew I was overweight. Hopefully after some medical testing and a some healthy weight loss, we can have a healthy baby to join our six year old son.

This is the first time I have tried the public forum, so I am hoping it will keep my motivations up. I am off to use the Wii Fit (very fun) and do some housework. Wish me luck.

msmarilyn3 01-08-2010 08:37 AM

Welcome to our group! Sounds as if we are the place for you! We all want to feel good about how we look and becoming more healthy is a great byproduct of exercise right? Going through miscarriages would be rough make sure you have allowed enough time for your body to heal. The WI fit is probably a good place to start just listen to you body and don't over do it. I try to log in once a day it is fun to interact with everyone and it holds me accountable :) I just started earlier this week so I'm not sure if I'll log in on the weekends though.

Hi, I actually still post in both...I'm the one who started the thread " Are you tired of not feeling sexy too?" It was one of my first post and I wasn't sure what kinda response I would get? Destiny came up with the "Sexy Girl Club" So we now have an official thread thanks to her :) Welcome to our group!

How is it going?

I just wanted to check in with everyone.
How are things going? I am doing OK. I almost totally fell off the wagon on Friday night, as I let my hubby order pizza and wings! Ugggh...thought I could control myself, but I ate too much!!
However, Sat & Sun I did not do too bad at all. I did not get a chance to log my food - so now I forget the details of what I ate. Today, I have done well again.
I know I need to do 2 things to help me:

1) Buyu a good scale! Mine is old and a rotary style, so the weight is not exact, nor does it tell oz's and I need to see every little loss for motivdation! So I must get a decent scall. Any suggestions?

2) I have to exercise! I wan to get back to the gym and on the elliptical, but it is not in the budget just yet. However, I could get a yoga DVD or something.

I have noticed that not being too hard on myself has helped me stick with it this time. Previously, I would have dropped off the road completely after falling off the wagon, but I didn't and it helped me regain momentum. Also, I am making small changes as I go..knowing that every good choice matters. It has helped to eat more veggies as a side dish vs. potatoes, fries, etc.

Tell us how you are doing and anything that is helping you?

Hang in there ladies, we can do it!

Janani2010 01-11-2010 01:19 PM

Hi there,

It is nice to meet you. I am 5' 1" and I weigh 152 lbs. I was 110 lbs before I had my daughter. After I had my daughter I went back to being 120lbs so I can't even blame pregnancy. Then it slowly started ccreeping up on me and now I can't even believe I let myself get to this weight. My weight bothers me so much that it severly affects my self esteem. I am always tired and feel sluggish. I really really want to lose weight an reach my target weight of 120lbs. Also I want to eat healthier so that my daughter can learn by example. I am hoping that with all your motivations and success stories, I will be successful.

Hi Destiny,
I'm gonna try this again. For some reason my computer or this program is not allowing me to respond? First of all who could resist Pizza and Wings (YUM) the important thing to realize it you got back on your diet- so now you're stronger and Strong= SEXY!Sometimes having a cheat day once a week actually helps you stick to a diet longer and the temporary influx of calories boost your metabolism. I have a digital scale with a number read out and it keeps track of my wieght too :) As far as exercse goes I used to watch a good program on PBS called Body Electric which combined Aerobic and body sculpting exercises it comes on @ 730 so check your local listings:) Keep it up you're doing great!

So I caved in on Saturday I went to Dennys with my sisters and i had a burger! Hi all, I would like to join the sexy girls club too. I am a mother of 4 ages 2-14, wife, and nurse. I am 31 y/o 5'8" and 242. I have never been this heavy in my entire life. I want to feel energetic & confident again, and right now I don't. Just started yesterday journaling what I am eating, and did 30 min on treadmill last night.

I would appreciate any suggestions or tips that work for you all. I want to feel "sexy" again!

KSgril - You came to the right place...we're all here to help! I'm also a RN - I work midnights which can definately make dieting hard, but I was making it harder on myself by staying up late on my nights off too. More hours awake= More hours to eat. I wasn't getting a good night sleep ever. Sleep is very important! It sounds as if you're on the right track with using a diet journal and exercising! I've heard increasing your water intake helps too...that's one I have trouble with. Welcome to our group:)

Destinyschoice76 01-12-2010 12:28 PM

Welcome!

Welcome Jan & KSgirl! Great to have you!
Sounds like we are hanging in there and doing the right things. I keep reminding myself...small steps! Slow & steady wins the race. I am eating well, especially compared to prior to 1/4 when I started. I am really watching the portion control. For dinner, I now use a smaller plate or rounded bowl. It really helps...b/c I tend to always finish my plate. But if there is less there, I don't go back for 2nds and eat less! It really works for me.
We recently got Netflix, and I have added some exercise videos to my instant que (can watch anytime). So now I just have to do one. But seems the only time I can is after 8pm...after a full day of work, dinner, taking care of a 2 yr old, bedtime, etc. So by now, I am tired and so do not want to exercise. uggh!
I may need to get up early to do it!
One thing at a time.
Hang in there ladies. We are more sexy just for being on this journey!
Thanks for all the support to one another. I know I appreciate it!

ksgirl1978 01-14-2010 06:30 AM

Hi girls, Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I've been doing pretty good with keeping track of my foods which makes me more accountable to myself. Still not doing very good with the exercise. Just need to make the time, just can't figure out when to fit it in. Does anybody else have the problem that when you leave to work out you feel like you are not being a "good mom/wife"? I know I'm not but that is just how it feels sometimes.

msmarilyn3 01-14-2010 07:11 AM

I know what you mean, but if we workout and get stronger we will be able to give that much more to our families :) Sometimes it may involve getting up a little earlier to carve some time out for ourselves but it is definately worth it and a healthy thing to do :) Healthy= Sexy ! Keep up the great work- you'll get there!

randomrachel 01-14-2010 07:43 AM

newbie here

hi all i just joined today. I wanted a place to keep a food journal and this seemed like the best free one out there :)

I'm 21, 5'2 and 175lbs. not proud of myself but over the course of college i started stress eating. the past few years have been hard emotionally for me so the fact that i tend to eat a lot of unhealthy things when i am depressed did not help me at all. My goal is to get down to 135lbs.

I hate my gut so much! i would love to be able to wear sexy things for my husband ( just married this past june. i tried to loose weight in the year i spent planning the wedding but only managed to maintain it. i was very self conscious during the honeymoon) but it is hard when i dont like the way i look in the mirror.

I was happy to find out this site has such an awesome forum :)

msmarilyn3 01-14-2010 10:15 AM

snolyzard 01-16-2010 02:05 PM

I know what you mean about feeling like a bad wife/mom when going to the gym. I feel like that whenever I go do something by myself, even if I'm grocery shopping! My husband is a great dad and he can handle things just fine but I guess that's the "mommy guilt." He stays home during the day (he freelances periodically) with our baby girl and I go to the gym for an hour right after work. So that works out really well since once I get home there's no way I'm leaving to go work out! But I do feel like I need to get home when I'm at the gym. I take group exercise classes so that keeps me from cutting the workout short. Bringin sexy back! woo hoo we can do it ladies!

cmw91 01-17-2010 05:38 PM

Oooh ;) Can i join?

I'm starting at University in September after taking a year out, and I want to walk into my new class feeling confident and beautiful (and of course sexy)

I moved to Canada from England about 3 years ago, weighing in at 130lbs and standing at 5'4" but all the delicious food on this side of the pond has bought me up to 165lbs. I'm determined to lose 35 - 45 pounds before september rolls around.

I'm excited to help bring sexy back with you ladies! ;)

msmarilyn3 01-18-2010 05:17 AM

CMW91 Hey you bet you can join us ! Welcome to the Sexy Girls club...We're all about feelin good about ourselves! So do you have an English accent? If so you've already got one on us because I secretly think a lot of men are turned on by an accent ha-ha! Don't worry about the weight it'll come off.

cmw91 01-18-2010 06:30 AM

Ahaha yes :) I do indeed have an English accent.
And I find it comes in handy sometimes :P ;)

mepgirl 01-18-2010 06:59 AM

Me too! I posted a couple things and then found out there's a separate sexy girls thread. May I join? I'm so wanting to get my sexy back!--Mary

You sure can join us Mary- mep girl we're glad to have ya:)

mepgirl 01-19-2010 06:33 AM

Thanks Miss Marilyn! I hope the scale starts to budge tomorrow. I'm doing everything I should: portions/good carbs, protien and also activity--treadmill and dance aerobics. My cable co offers exercise tv on demand. so i put that on and chose 10 minute workouts, where they offer a 10 min dance aerobics..from there I go to my treadmill, flip the news on, and do 20 mins. For a total of 30. I hope to add 15 - 30 mins of activity. This isn't easy for me. I've never had to exercise and I don't like it. I'm trying to re-frame my thinking on this and you sexy girls are helping me! thanks!~Mary

MarkysMom 01-19-2010 01:00 PM

I'll jump in on this thread, too! I just bought a new scale that stores my weight, and will tell me how much I've lost. Bed, Bath, & Beyond - use the 20% coupon. :) They had a Biggest Loser Scale, too, but I liked this one better. Now I want to get a food scale to help with my portion sizes - I am out of control! I like the suggestion of using a smaller plate - trick my eyes into thinking I'm eating more. I too am a member of the clean-plate club - my grandma would be proud. :( Anyway, I enjoy this thread - keep up the encouragement, ladies. We're doing great!
Christine

msmarilyn3 01-20-2010 04:54 AM

Mary,
Glad to help :) Sounds like you're doing everything right - now the hard part is just being patient it seemed like it took me almost 2 weeks before I seen things really start moving :) You'll do great :)

msmarilyn3 01-20-2010 04:58 AM

Hi Christine,
I have the same scale :) I definetly makes a differance. I don't do the food scale probably should. I do use smaller plates and try to eat slower, drink more water, eat more veggies etc. Glad you're part of our group:)

bedwards5 01-20-2010 06:44 AM

I would like in as well. I'm 30 years old, i'm 5'5" and 187 lbs at the moment. I started dieting and exceriseing on the 4th of jan. and I have lost 3 lbs. (i was 190) I definantly want to look sexy again!!! I would like to get into a swim suit again. I'm trying to stick to my calories. and thats a good idea baout eating on a smaller plate. i haven't thought of that. I drank nothing but water unless we go out to eat (which we hardly do) i get unsweeten tea.

:D

jess_loves_it 01-20-2010 11:37 AM

msmarilyn3 01-20-2010 12:36 PM

Some single, some married some married with children-Some young - some old- some pudgy- some chunky but none of us are FAT - BAD WORD ...but we all would like to be PHAT- Pretty, Hot and Tempting ha-ha:p So welcome aboard the Sexy Train!

MarkysMom 01-20-2010 02:48 PM

Yay, I'm down 2 pounds! Go, me! I've upped my exercise minutes by 10 minutes and I feel really good. How 'bout them endorphins?!

I want to eat more veggies, too, but know that in order to do that I need to have them ready to go. What is the best way to store them to keep them fresh? Some I have in tupperware containers and some are in ziploc bags. I have the most problem with cucumbers - once they're peeled they get yucky pretty quickly. Any tips or tricks? My grandma used to store lettuce in the bowl with a damp paper towel on top - just keep rewetting. It was amazing how well that worked - but I don't have shelf space right now to keep a bowl like that, so into the ziploc it goes. Just thought I'd pick your brains.
