Amy Thanks for the BIDIA award for yesterday sorry to hear you felt the same way this morning so I will pass the award back to you. The kids are adorable in their costumes thanks for sharing.

April Good job fighting back food with exercise! Keep working those squats I have been doing them daily for 3 weeks now and my thighs are down 1.5” I was really surprised when I measured on Monday.

April My suggestion for mhibdon is that she journals everything she wants to say to us then she can pick the best of her two weeks and share them with us when she returns it will make her feel better and boy will it be an interesting post for us( lol).

Terri Glad to hear all is well outside of your busy work schedule. I hope you get something out of your conference and hopefully a bit of down time soon.

Mike I am so sorry to hear your back is bothering you again. Great job on 2.8 more miles done yeah! I can’t keep up with you all today 3 more miles you rock!!

Quinn Thanks for the pictures I am not ready for snow but it was cold here today. You look great and so happy in the second picture! Awesome green day again and I would vote pie crust is probably worse than bread.

Cassie I can’t get the picture of you and Quinn cleaning under the bridge to make it like home out of my head I can see it now, I am sorry homeless person but you will need to wipe your feet I just swept their.

Main80 Thanks I think we approach our weight loss life style similarly so I am glad when you share it helps me feel normal so I thought I should share back. Balance is a word I am also seeking in my food plan but listening to everyone hear I think it just takes time and practice.

Mary That sounds like a stressful afternoon I might of needed a relaxant not a coffee. Hope your night is better.

Wow you guys have been busy bees today. It rained on our outing but we still had a great time it is very cold hear today but no snow thankfully. I walked a ton so I will call that exercise and go do some exercises with my hand weights. I will be back to report later, have a good evening.

Bam! Just knocked out 40 minutes running on the treadmill. If that doesn't get me back into a good mindset, I don't know what will.

Mike, I hate the term ADD because there is no such diagnosis. Even if you don't have the hyperactive/impulsive symptoms, the diagnosis is still ADHD, Predominantly Inattentive Type. Not sensible, but that's what it is. And being CDO, I like things to be precise . Dang, your beans sound good, despite the fact that it is one food I just plain and simple do not like. I'm sure they were stellar. I kinda feel sorry for the kid who brought the other beans, kind of like being underdressed for a function.

Darlene, we're also planning to paint and upholster. Please stop by! Glad you got some good walking done today; keep it up!

So... I'm confused

Shouldn't you not like the term ADHD because they put people that are not hyperactive in that "category" when it should just be ADD? I can tell you that without a doubt I have ADD, or we can just say that I have a really bad attention problem. Sadly, I always thought that I was dumber than the other kids b/c no matter how much I tried to study, I just didn't get it. No matter how much I tried to pay attention in class, I was always easily distracted. I was never the type to get in trouble for being disruptive in class. If someone was outside cutting grass, or a squirrel was outside, anything, I would easily stray away from the conversation at hand. My teachers never said anything, maybe they didn't notice. If they would have, back then it would have been "he's not paying attention." Which was true, but not by choice. My dad use to crawl my ass when I was a kid b/c my grades always sucked. I could spend hours studying... or TRYING to study, only to bring home a 'D'. I have a hard time focusing and lose interest very easily.

It wasn't until I started in the insurance industry that it hit me that I really had a problem. When studying for one of my licenses, I couldn't read the material for 5 minutes without stopping to check my email, surfing the internet, flipping back a couple pages, unplugging my laptop, getting up, whatever. Reading/comprehension was a huge challenge for me. I'd read the same paragraph over and over, sometimes the same sentence. After ready several times I'd still have no clue of what it was about. I was (and still can be) so unorganized, would have multiple things going on and trouble finishing any one thing.

I ended up having to take leave from work b/c I was in danger of failing my exam b/c I just could not focus or comprehend it. I was then diagnosed with ADD and I hated the label of it. I can now tell you that after being diagnosed and prescribed adderall, my life has changed like you wouldn't believe. It was as if the light bulb went on. I could finally read things and actually get it, probably not as well as some, but way better than before. I can carry on a conversation with someone and actually stay on the subject. I don't feel the urge to interrupt people as they talk b/c I feel like I have to say what I'm thinking at that very second. As far as the medication, I've found that it levels my mood greatly. I originally thought it was some odd side effect of it, until it hit me one day when I was off of it and I was very pissy, short fused, agitated, etc. It dawn on me that I was overwhelmed over the simplest shit. I felt so out of control, which was controlling my mood, if that makes sense. I don't think I'm hyper, well no more hyper than the next person. I don't bounce off the walls, talk super fast, nothing like that. As far as the adderall goes, I don't take it as often as I should b/c I know it's an amphetamine, which makes it highly addictive. I'm probably one of the few people that brings back old expired prescriptions to my doctor b/c I'm afraid to take it all the time. I'm also on what I consider a light dose, 20mg twice a day. A month Rx of 60 pills will usually last me 2 months though, but it's night and day when I'm on it vs not being on it. If I would have been diagnosed earlier in life I have no doubt that I would have graduated much higher in my class b/c I really wasn't some punk kid slacking off.

My daughter was also diagnosed but they said she had ADHD. I asked the doctor why he gave her that diagnosis, b/c she's not hyper at all. She's the mellow kid that sees life through the pink shades. He said "they" no longer diagnose people with ADD, they are all considered ADHD, which I think is a crock of shit!

I know we look at things totally differently, you from a clinical standpoint and me from a personal point of view.

ON EDIT: Oops I just went back and read what you wrote. I get what you're saying. Your not saying that there's no such thing as ADD, it's just not diagnosed that, it's diagnosed as ADHD. Right? When did they change it from ADD to ADHD?

Oh wow that was like TMI there, oh well.

Mike...thanks for sharing your experience. Adult ADHD is often overlooked and frustrating for those who have it and those who live with it. (although I think in kids it's still overdiagnosed). I've got some thoughts on it but it's getting late, so I'll send you a PM after work tomorrow evening.

Basically, the only diagnoses that you can get for ADHD are Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Predominantly Inattentive Type (meaning you do meet criteria for inattention but not hyperactivity), ADHD, Predominantly Hyperactive/Impulsive Type (meaning the reverse), or ADHD, Combined Type (meaning you hit both sets of criteria). It DOES make more sense to call it ADD, but that's not how it's written. I guess I'm too much of a rule follower, or maybe it's related to the fact that grammar is my passion .

Okay thanks for the explanation. I guess that it was never ADD? I assume I'm what they would call Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Predominantly Inattentive Type. On the bright side, I'm not crazy... or at least the state's not paying me for being crazy.

Quinn, not to sound stalkerish (it's not usually good when someone starts a sentence like that) but I went back and looked at your pic. I think I figured out who you remind me of, Christy Brinkley. I don't know if it's the hair, smile, eyes, who knows? Ever get that before?
