Hello everyone! I'm not exactly new to FitDay, I've had an account since last January, but this is this my first time on the forum. I've read some inspiring things so far and I find that very motivating. I'm a 20 yr old college student looking to improve my health and fitness. I'm in the nursing program at my college so I'm not only wanting to be healthier for me, but for my future career. My starting weight is 150 lbs and my goal is to be down to 121 by my 21st birthday (08/20/12). Even if I can just partially achieve it, I would be very happy. I plan on losing weight by eating and cooking lighter and healthier, drinking more water, and exercising consistently. I have free access to the rec center at the university I go to, so I plan on doing my workouts there. The elliptical machines are my favorite. I also like to ride my bicycle when I have the time. I have lost weight before, 20 lbs in 2008 that I kept off for a year, so I know I can do it. It'll just take some hard work. I appreciate any advice or tips to help my begin this journey. Thanks

Welcome back to Fitday!

A few things that I've been thinking about this week that might help:

"If you can't measure it, you can't manage it" - Peter Drucker. So log everything into fitday and make adjustments as you go to keep the weight coming off.

For me it's really worked to have some rich foods from time to time. Examples: 1 cup of regular ice cream 280 cals, A worlds finest chocolate bar 230cals (lady was selling them at the office). I turn down and pass up tons of stuff, but every once in a while I figure the calories first, eat the tasty stuff, and then work it into my daily calories. Keeps me sane.

Be proud of yourself, pat yourself on the back. A lot of people don't eat right, don't excercise. Even if they are thin, do they have ability to perform like an athlete?

I'm a long way from my goals but I aspire to be an athlete again. I want people to see me on the street and say, "That guy works out."
