Default I'm done with being unfit and unhappy

Hi all!

My name is April and I'm hoping to lose 110 pounds in 60 weeks. I would love advice on exercise for big girls....I don't want to overdo it and end up quitting because I hurt myself. Slow and steady wins the race!
I have hip issues and other less mention-able health issues that would be greatly reduced with the weight being gone. This isn't a new year's resolution, this is a commitment to get healthy for my family. I want to be around to parent my children and to be a partner to my boyfriend.
I'm very hopeful right now and pray that my motivation will remain steady!

Weight fluctuates, as you well know, but over time, you can achieve your goal. Best of luck to you!

April, welcome!! I too have many "ailments" that can be alleviated if I lose weight. I've used this site in the past and had great success. Then I let life get in the way and have gained back almost all of what I had lost. If you're looking for Motivation and Support, check out the 7 Day Motivational Thread in the Motivation and Support Forum. A new thread is started every Monday. You make as many, or as few, goals as you want. Nothing specific, it's all up to you. You update us as much as you can and you get to help everyone else along the way.

Hi April - I'm new to FitDay too but I still want to say welcome! and good luck and congratulations for making the decision to get healthy and happy. Exercise for big girls (or guys) - water walking is great. It's exactly what it sounds like - walking in water (either at the beach or in the pool). Just get in there and walk through the water - deep or shallow - depending on how comfortable you are in the water. The resistance of the water makes it a work out - but because you are weightless - the risk of injury is greatly diminished. Like any other exercise though - start slow and easy and work your way up.
