Question Help me to improve user experience of nutrition app

Hey folks 👋 I'm interested in one question, anybody tried to calorie counting?

Now I'm improving the UX in FatSecret app, so here is a question for people who using it or have used… What part of the app makes you frustrating or even annoying? What would you improve first?

To be honest, I have never tried to count calories accurately, always approximately and more protein.

Improving the user experience (UX) of a nutrition app like FatSecret is crucial for enhancing user engagement and satisfaction. Here are some suggestions to help you identify areas that might need improvement and enhance the overall user experience:

1. User Feedback and Surveys:
  • Conduct user surveys or gather feedback from app reviews to understand what frustrates or annoys users.
  • Ask open-ended questions about specific pain points and areas that need improvement.
2. Simplify Navigation:
  • Evaluate the app's navigation structure. Are users able to easily find the features they need?
  • Simplify the menu and categorize sections logically to ensure a smoother user journey.
3. User Onboarding:
  • Ensure that the onboarding process is straightforward and informative. Help users understand how to use the app effectively from the start.
4. Calorie Counting Process:
  • Make the calorie counting process intuitive and user-friendly. Provide clear instructions on how to input foods, portion sizes, and meals.
  • Consider incorporating barcode scanning for easy food input.
5. Personalization:
  • Implement a personalized experience by allowing users to set goals, preferences, and dietary restrictions.
  • Provide meal recommendations and tracking based on the user's profile.
6. User Interface (UI) Design:
  • Review the app's design. Is it visually appealing and easy to navigate?
  • Ensure that fonts, colors, and icons are consistent throughout the app.
7. Notifications and Reminders:
  • Offer customizable notifications and reminders for meal tracking, water intake, and exercise.
  • Avoid overwhelming users with excessive notifications.
8. Performance and Loading Speed:
  • Optimize app performance to ensure quick loading times and smooth interactions.
  • Minimize any delays or lags that might frustrate users.
9. Community Engagement:
  • Incorporate features that encourage users to interact with one another, such as forums or social sharing.
  • Enable users to find and connect with friends who are also using the app.
10. Educational Content:
  • Include educational content on nutrition, healthy eating, and fitness. Provide users with valuable information that aligns with their goals.
11. Data Syncing and Accessibility:
  • Ensure that user data syncs seamlessly across devices, allowing users to access their information from different platforms.
  • Provide accessibility options for users with different needs, such as larger fonts or voice input.
12. Regular Updates and Bug Fixes:
  • Regularly release updates that address user feedback and fix any reported bugs or issues.
  • Let users know that their feedback is valued and acted upon.
13. User Testing:
  • Conduct usability testing with a diverse group of users to identify pain points and areas of confusion.
  • Analyze the results to make informed improvements.
Remember that the goal is to create an app that provides a seamless and enjoyable experience for users. By listening to user feedback, analyzing their interactions, and making thoughtful changes, you can make the FatSecret app more user-friendly and engaging.
