this is the right place. I don't believe the email function is working so the "contact us" will not notify us, or at least not me. This, staying logged in and a bunch of other things are what's being worked on.
|
I believe cookies need to be enabled for the login to be persistant. Some of the new browsers might turn them off, as may some security software. Still, the forum software does force one to re-authenticate aftrer a while. I've also noticed that I can be still logged into the forums but not FitDay itself.
Regards, Michael |
The need to constantly log into the iPhone app has me looking for a different one. I really like FitDay but the need to log in every time is a real pain. I know your working on the web version but I hope your addressing this as well.

Hi Mike, any progress on this?
Thanks! |

help fitday
I see my user name here ... upper right.
However, on the main home page it keeps on saying 'not logged in' even after I try to log in and put in my password I am closed out and can't put in my food etc. I put in my food earlier today, but when I came back, I was closed out. Again, I can come to this page and my user name is recognized in blue however, the main reason I am here is to track my food and right now, i can't do that can this be fixed? Slender123 |

Add me to the list of people who are absolutely maddened by the "you have to log in again!" misfeature every time I go to update something. Since I have Firefox and therefore a reasonably secure auto-populating login/PW form, it's not all that horrible, but it's difficult enough getting so much information into a web interface to being with ... why make it harder?

iphone log in
I am brand new to Fit Day. I love the concept and plan to use it daily. I am using the web browser and iphone app. I hate the repetitive log in on my iphone and this is only day 3. Please allow the log in to stay on via the iphone app. This isn't a bank account app. I don't need that much security. Thanks.

iPhone App Login
Why can the iPhone app not remember the username and password. That is a pain in the but when you want to quickly log your food and you have to go through the login process on a smart phone.
|
Web Browser Chrome and IE do not keep logged in
I check the box to remember user and still I have to login everytime I hit the website.
|
it's not your browser, it's actually FitDay. This has been brought to the attention of our tech support.
|
I believe that once the login issue is fixed here it would be on the app as well. I will verify.

Definitely annoying - and unbelievable
Not being able to stay logged in is undoubtedly one of the most annoyinug things possible, and I cannot believe it has taken so long for the admins to fix. The vast majority of sites I use every day, including some small, relatively low-traffic sites (thus poorer) do not have this issue. In fact, the only sites I regularly use that annoy me with this are banks, which is understandable. Ebay and Amazon allow you to remain logged in--for more than a decade now--until you actually have to place a bid or an order.
While Fitday tries to sort things out, I'm headed off to check out another site. I may even give a look at one more site. No sense wasting my time on a site that takes a decade to move into the new century. While some parts of Fitday are prettier, this other site I found is pretty good, has a much larger amount of food, allows you to look at other user's workouts etc, and has food options for you to choose from when following a particular type of diet, along with other cool features. And you don't have to keep logging in. I have now moved there permanently. [Still another site, meanwhile, has had no admin support for more than a year--it was started by a Russian guy a decade ago almost and he has left for other things.] |

Thanks :) This can be tricky so be careful. It does work, though. The PC version is much easier to use than the online version, except for printing reports.:o |

I am using Firefox 3.6.12 behind a corporate firewall and I stay logged in fine so the basic functionality is there.
Lack of time zone setting on the main site is the killer for me. I live in New Zealand where we are +12 or +13 GMT... so everything on foods/activities etc is usually a day out. Other than that I love the look and feel of the site, nice and clean design. Good feature set too. UPDATE - scratch that, I must have had a session of Firefox still open in the background when I tested that out. It does indeed clear the cookie (cookie is set to session type not persistent type?) forcing you to log back in. I also tried clicking on the correct day on the calender, filled stuff in and then it was back on the wrong day again once I logged back in. It looks like I can just select the day from the calendar each time though so that is a work around. |
Ya the log in fix would take a few minutes from whoever runs this site. It's apparent that there is no one taking care of the site. I'll be moving on to another site ASAP. Too bad... I spent all that time entering my custom foods :(

I agree that it is mildly annoying to have to login and I'm on the site a lot. But really, if you let your browser save your username and PW it takes what, an extra couple of seconds and one keystroke to log back in? Good luck on your healt/fitness endeavours. Regards, Michael |
I agree, logging in every 10 minutes is really annoying!
|
I think it's a forum software issue. I let the browser remember by UN and PW so it's only a click or two to log back in. I agree it's a PITA.
Regards, Michael |
I totally agree. I complained about this when I joined late last fall, but it's still the same. I don't think FitDay is even looking at this feedback.

Ha, I'm also in New Zealand and have to adjust the time and date. I just adjusted my time date settings for the Forum, but when I logged out and logged back in again, it doesn't change my date. I have the iPhone App, which is great, but it reads the date off my phone so it's always accurate.
Otherwise fantastic site that provides a tonne of value for free. Thank you so much to the mods and people who make this happen. I've lost a lot of weight round my mid section thanks to this intuitive interface. The time date, is my only problem with the site. Kind Regards, Gerrard

Log on each time and Stay on track regularly!

Thanks :)[/QUOTE None that I know of - you have to log in each time. I try to plan most of what I'm going to eat the next day at night. That way I enter all the food and activities I will plan to be doing in less than 15 minutes or so. Since I have a routine life and need to take food and water every 2-3 hours - it is pretty easy. Most important thing is to log in. I sometimes slip and then I tend to either stay the same weight or gain! Have to be honest with myself.:) |
Login expiry timeout
Hi Mike,
This concerns the timeout on the main site, not the discussion forum timeout. What I'm referring to leaving the main site open on my computer and having to sign on again to enter food, activities, etc. Can you please submit a request to increase the timeout on the main site, or allow a checkbox perhaps like ebay, "leave me signed on all day" ? It may be a minor gripe but a timeout of an hour (which seems to be about what it is) requires signing on many times during the day. Especially if I close my netbook, sign off takes place much quickly. Ideally it would maintain the signon context following loss of connection for the same amount of time. It it possible to suggest or put in an enhancement request for this? Does anyone have a security concern that someone else might read/alter their log? If that is the case, even an hour may be too long... Thanks much, FIN |
FIN, this issue has been reported in the past. I, too, would like to see it solved. As a workaround I allow the browser to "remember" my password so at least a re-logon is pretty quick.
Regards, Michael |
This is the response that I got.
The session timeout is 1 hour. We have discussed but have no plans to change the amount of time (as of now). In this case data security outweighs the inconvenience of logging in again. How upset would our users be if their data was compromised? As FitDay continues to grow we will most likely be adding more security. It's the way of the world right now. At least we're not like the banks - 10 minutes. :) For now the best option is to use a password utility to remember your password. I'm sure we will look at this again in the future. |

In any event ideallly there would be an option to allow users to decide if they wish to remain signed on for the day. Perhaps there are overhead issues with that but that would leave it up for the user to decide if security is a concern *on this site*. Thanks much for asking! |
Security on this site is very very tight, even by comparison to other IB sites, which is saying something. We have discussed a user option coupled with a "do you want to stay logged in?" reminder, but it has to be vetted a bit more before we could add it as an option. I'll keep you posted.

It's Strange....
to say the least. I'm only logged in on this forum, but when I try to see my fitness journal I'm logged out and I can't log back in.:(
|
It's a new, "more secure" feature. When you enter your username, it should take you to a new screen to enter your username and password. It is supposed to be persistant, using a cookie so you don't always need to re-login.
Regards, Michael |
Thanks for the explanation, but
the "persistent" part isn't working. I have to retype my user id and password every time. I have tried this on both my PC and MAC, but it is not "remembering". That would be awesome! Is there a way to make this work?
Thanks, Wendy |
Michael, I am having a related problem with my account; security on my account is worse, not better, and I don't want to put the details out here for everyone on the internet to see. Is there an email that actually works that someone can take care of this? Thanks...

I'll have tech look into this.
As they previously posted, they are continuing to sort out issues related to the update. Paul |
IBobi is very efficient ... and yes we are in a transition to a much more secure FitDay! I hope you'll like it ...

Frustrated With Login Situation
Long time fitday fan and user. What keeps me coming back is how nicely the main page is in regards to food tracking and the fact that I can easily change from grams to oz etc. I also have a large stash of custom foods inputted that I use regularly.
One of my long time pet peaves with the site though was that the "remain logged in" box on the main page has always been useless. Ive always been forced to log in every time I visit the site (which is on average 15-20+ times a day). No worries, all my browsers (pc and android) always saved my login and password with my bookmark so all that I needed to do was click login. Now with all the recent changes, NONE of my browsers will keep my login info (though they still do for every other site/forum I visit). On a pc its not a huge deal, but on my phone its a great pain to have to type in my username and password 20+ times a day to get at my log. What is going on? Are we headed towards the direction of ease in regards to logging in on the site? Is this something that can be corrected etc? Thanks! |
Auto log out
Is there a way I can set it to NOT log me out automatically when it's idle?
|
For reasons of security, no. Sorry.
