The Nutrition of Apple Pie

Who in their right mind will first think about nutrition when a piece of apple pie is served in front of them? Only the anticipation of unmatched taste and textures come into focus when you see an apple pie. It is usually after the first bite that the guilt (if there is any) sets in.  If you were caught in this trance-like state, don’t worry. You and millions of people throughout the centuries have been a victim of its allure. 

Today’s focus on health and fitness does not mean you have to live a life without the company of apple pie. Contrary to what most people think, it offers more than just the pleasure of satisfying your taste buds.

Energy

One benefit of an apple is the calorie content that can give you enough energy for the day. Calories are the body’s fuel to do anything from running a marathon to just doing nothing at all. Apple pie can undoubtedly give you your daily dose of fat requirements.

With a slice of apple pie, you get to eat proteins that are required in building and repairing muscles and tissues. It is likewise important in creating antibodies to boost your defenses. Proteins are also known for aiding in proper metabolism. Apple pie nutrition is no fallacy. It’s a matter of understanding it better.

Apples are outstanding sources of dietary fiber. Surprisingly, dietary fibers can not be digested by the body. However, it is this nutrient that is required to help clean your system. Researches have also shown that soluble fibers help reduce the bad cholesterol in the body. 

Sodium

Sodium or salt is necessary to maintain the balance of water in the body’s cells. Furthermore, it is also responsible for proper nerve and muscle control. Excess salt is excreted through perspiration and through the urine. But don’t push your luc,k as the body can only process so much.

Apple pie is not just a haven of flavors. It is an outstanding source of the body’s required nutrition. But like anything in this world, moderation is always a wise course of action.
