Most people who commit to a healthy lifestyle are devoted to it completely and continue to stick with it even when temptation has them reconsidering. Most people who commit to a healthy lifestyle are devoted to it completely and continue to stick with it even when temptation has them reconsidering. However, what happens when you decide that the healthy way of life simply isn't for you and you want to go back to how you used to be? The answer may be a bit more surprising than you might think.

These days the world at large is drilling into your head how incredibly important it is to start living a healthy lifestyle so that you can look and feel good both inside and out. From television shows and celebrities to fast food chains and specialty supermarkets, the healthy lifestyle revolution is firmly in full effect. Nevertheless, while the benefits of actively living a healthy lifestyle are obvious and don’t need to be repeated, what happens if/when you decide that it’s no longer the way that you want to live?

One of the obvious reasons why someone would abandon the healthy lifestyle trek is that they may feel an overwhelming sense of pressure to be perfect and never slip-up and eat something that is considered unhealthy. This could also involve a lot of guilt for a person if they happen to indulge in that big, chocolate piece of cake while no one was watching. Another factor in leaving the healthy life behind, is that social settings could become difficult if you are the lone person in your social circle with a healthy lifestyle and the rest of your friends want to indulge in tempting food and drinks. They could start to isolate you from certain outings because they don’t want to be under your veil of scrutiny at everything they put in their mouth.

Or it could be a better, simpler reason…you decided that you will eat what you want in moderation and satisfy cravings as they arise. It’s been widely proven that depriving yourself of certain foods can lead to bingeing and overall overindulgence. This doesn’t mean that you should eat all the junk food that you want and disregard the health effects, it just means that you have eliminated the stress that often comes with following a strict diet regimen. You should still continue with some form of exercise, find a weight that is comfortable for you and not based off of the expectations of others.

Abandoning the healthy lifestyle is perhaps an extreme way to phrase things, maybe altering or restructuring your eating habits to ensure that you aren’t depriving yourself or adding stress to your life due to unrealistic expectations is the better way to put it. Whatever the reason, your choice to live healthy or not should be up to you and you only.
