Goals Week of August 20
Focus on water. Yes, Yes
Focus on whole foods. Yes (but had a slice of pizza at work), Yes (but had a slice of pumpkin bread at work)
Limit coffee to 16oz/day. Yes, Yes
Get to the Gym 2x this week. Tuesday
Write down all the things on my mental long-standing “to-do-list.” Wrote down several things.
Complete/start at least one item from my long-standing “to-do-list.” Started my wildfire evacuation plan.
Find the joy in everything in life, even the tough stuff. Trying hard

New challenge is to avoid the left-over food area at work. My office was just moved next to a big conference room, and I cross through it to get to the water/coffee machine. Sometimes there is good stuff like fruit and veggies people bring in to share, but most of the time I come across left-over pizza, pasta, etc from big lunch meetings... errr... I need to try harder to avoid the temptation :o

So I forget to supplement. darngit. I ate over my calories yesterday, I admit, and looking back over what I did eat, it was all clean and/or raw... so I am not going to beat myself up over it. Just re-think today, and do better.

Nichaleh-hope you are feeling better, and wonderful job on the flexibility in cooking without an oven!

ichalk- sorry about the fluctuation. My entire loss has been a fluctuation with the dot zigging and zagging in a downward direction. Just log it and go with it. don't get crazy about it. It's just like a heartbeat on a EKG monitor, up and down = life.

Nobe- ah the joys of retail. Gives you a whole new perspective.

Cjohnson- great work on your weekly goals. You, being my goal setter, I'll be reminded to take my supplements today for sure!

2. Walk on lunch 3 times from Tues - Fri T: 2-1/8 miles,
3. Exercise 3 times T: Yes (evening), W: Yes (morning),
4. Weigh and post it daily T: 230.6lbs, W: 231.0lbs,

Life Goals ...
1. Finish vacation laundry T: worked on it, W: all washed & dried just gotta fold the whites, sheets & blankets,
2. Don't stress about that thing you have no control over T: Yes,
3. Put antibiotic on the tat morning & night T: Yes,

Bit the bullet last night and worked out. It was rough! I had overeaten spaghetti at dinner and then munched some trail mix so I was fat & bloated, huffing & puffing, red & sweaty. Nice image huh? I showered up and felt better though and stayed up when the hubby went to work this morning at 5am and did it again. Felt better this morning.

One of the dogs is sick today. They sleep in our laundry room / half bath. Thank goodness it has vinyl flooring. One of them had multiple accidents last night. I think it is Macie. She seems to have no pep this morning. It's hard to tell though because Chloe feels so bad for being in a room that was messy that she thinks she is in trouble so her behavior isn't her usual self this morning either. She did grab toys and run around and play a little though so I really think it is Macie. Macie also had a clear runny nose this morning and that is not normal for her. I am at work but the boys are home with them. They know to keep a close eye on her for hints that she needs out quickly to save my carpet LOL.

Here is Macie this weekend taking a nap on the bank of the lake.

Mike ... Doesn't it always seem like when you are dealing with something stressful that the person/company who is supposed to be helping you usually adds more stress to your situation? I am glad you are getting it back together though.

Ama ... I work in the warehouse now, but in the past I worked in the admin building which also houses the test kitchen. Oh the things that come out of there! I feel for ya. You will learn how to deal with the temptation though. I may soon be moving back to the other building and even close to the kitchen this time if I do. :(

Cassie ... You are doing great on your exercise goal this week!

Ann ... I admire you so much for being able to exercise so soon after having a baby. I am glad you are working your busy life around it before it gets more hectic by working too.

Nobe ... Your new job sounds fun to me too. I spent some time as a cashier in the past and I loved it. I loved all the activity. One summer I worked 3 months at a store that sells surplus (damaged) goods. I lost like 30lbs during those 3 months.

Best advice ever! Those fluctuations happen to everyone. My loss chart looks like a heartbeat but to me as long as the general direction is downward, that is all that counts! Keep on working hard. You will get to see that pattern on your chart too.

It does! I've worked retail most of my adult life, but a thrift shop is a totally different experience. It's the first time, too, that I've worked somewhere I shop; it's weird to see the store from the other side of the counter. I never would have known there were so many nitpicky details involved in running it - I thought they just got the stuff, put it out and sold it!

Hi everyone :)

I just wanted to come by and quickly post that I am alive and doing alright! BF and I have moved to New Job Land and the semester starts TOMORROW  so I am very busily getting ready. I am hoping that after I get a chance to finally catch my breath this weekend that I can re-join everyone. My habits are starting to get away from me a bit... plus stress of moving... plus family visit = whacked-out diet!

I have been able to mostly maintain, but a few pounds have crept back on. It's going to take me awhile to get entirely back in the swing of things, but I am looking forward to it!

I appreciate everyone who has sent me PMs checking in on me :) Sorry to have disappeared so abruptly. I promise I will post a more thorough catch-up soon! (And to anyone I don't know, HELLO! <3 I'm Terri!)

Best and love,
~Terri

Probably water retention. It takes water to get rid of water, now go drink water until you start to pee clear.

Cassie, I hope DH is feeling better. Those upper respiratory infections suck!

April, glad your hives are better.

Terri, so good to learn you're back. Mostly maintaining is fantastic! Well done for as long as you were away due to your moving, etc.

I'm way behind on reading this thread. Hope to rejoin y'all tomorrow.

Cheers for all who are doing well and huge hugs of support to those who are not.

Ama: I love the goal of finding the joy in the tough things in life - I need to take that goal and carry it with me, in my pocket! It can be a challenge to spot that joy amidst the chaos and noise that fills our lives.

April - hon, I really hope the pup is gonna be ok - the 4-legged kids are often just as important to us as our 2-legged ones! Picture was sweet - part/all boxer?

jjrudd, cassie & frenchhen - nice job this week thus far!

Nichaleh - hope you'll feel better soon - allow yourself the time to heal

Tori - Anticipation can take up so much of our energies and focus, especially when awaiting the one we love. Lady, know that we will be here when your life (and heart) comes back .

Nobe - OMG! I have been shopping in thrift stores since high school (many moons ago!), and couldn't imagine working in one! I'd make no money, I'd spend it all there. (recently found a gorgeous 1940's Lane cedar chest for $60! - yep. It's in my living room)

Mern - felling better? hope the allergies settle down for you - sounds uncomfortable.

Quinn - thank you for the note - hope your week is a good one!

Mike - whew! your self-control with the banking/insurance service reps & issues is incredible! Some ppl I know(ahem) would be cussing up a blue streak at the next idjit on the phone...

Ok, here is my Wednesday:

I did my walk today - no running yet, but added a mile onto it. Been taking my supplements faithfully. Had a bit of fun today in the kitchen - making limoncello and lime-cello. Am researching how to make kahlua next, and a honey liquor. For the holidays (and the occasional adult treat).

Numbers:
Calories: 1,622 Fats: 104.1 Carbs: 73.5 Protein: 107.2

Wow - two nights in a row of no nocturnal wanderings - I woke, but was able to go right back to sleep. Melatonin, not booze;)

Less than a week left before school starts - and I go back to work. Driving the bus keeps one just a little loony...

Thank you both for the encouragement. Those charts are definitely not motivators! Oh well, i'm trying to learn as much about my habits from them that i can. For example, i had no idea how much sodium i was taking in each day. I do not salt my food, and mostly eat home cooked meals. My daily intake is WAY too high!! So, i'm adding that to my list of things to watch.

I went jogging tonight at our local track, and that was fun. I had no idea how many people from our little town were out running at night!

ichalk2up 08-22-2012 02:56 PM

Well, its midweek, and i'm trying to focus on the positives! Its never easy to start anything new.

Wildbeanerz - i hope your dog is doing okay. I'm a dog lover. Its sort of our hobby to train and show our dogs in AKC performance events. Keep us updated.

Mike - i definitely know how frustrating it is to try and talk to companies over the phone. They all think they are high and mighty and don't need to take care of their customers. Recently we had some work done on a rental property and financed the expense. A two years same as cash loan, which i was making monthly payments on; in the mean time, they closed my account and never notified me. Reported it to the credit bureau and tanked my credit score. I was able to appeal and the credit bureau decided in my favor, but it makes me angry that i still have to pay them every month. Can't wait until its paid in full.

Ama - is there a different route you can take through the office? I used to have the same issue, and found it worked to take the long way around to get to where i wanted to go.

nobe 08-22-2012 02:58 PM

calories <1600 - 1539, 1601 (I'm counting it), 1684
water >64oz - 64oz, 64oz, 64oz+
protein >20% - 22%, 19%, 17%
take vitamins - yes, yes, yes
move - walking/playing with the kiddo, worked 8 hrs/walked to and from work, worked 8 hrs/walked to and from work

I'm having the same problem. My shop gets bread in the morning to give out free, and the back table is loaded with goodies for us to eat. Today it was a big bag of bakery cookies. Yesterday I passed on the Costco muffins - if it doesn't have chocolate I don't feel compelled to eat it, but if the cookies keep up I'm going to be rapidly expanding. Although I did manage to have only one on my lunch break today. Go me!

Ha. Even on days that I drink way over my 64oz, my pee is still yellow. I don't know what is up with that. But I had had my quota before I left work today, and there's still a couple hours left. SO THERE!

Yeah, I've been thrift shopping for about 20 years :) The one I'm at is dirt cheap (like $2.99 for Gap jeans for the kiddo), and we get 25% off! But everything I have my eye on ends up selling before I can grab it. It has to go out on the floor before we can set it aside for ourselves, and we can only "shop" during our breaks. I try to remember everything I see that I want, but it either goes before I can get it (so hard to sell something I want to someone else!), or I forget what it was. It's such sensory overload working there. But we put out an average of 1,700 new pieces a day, so I'm sure more will come along!

Cassie-I talk to WHN pretty much every day. He has a M-F 8-4ish job, and he does nothing in his down time. We normally Skype on Sundays, phone calls on Wednesdays, and facebook messenger all the other days. We've missed our last Skype session because he wasn't feeling well, and I haven't had a Wednesday phone call in two weeks for a number of reasons. Even though I speak to him in some form, every day, it's not enough. He's not HERE.....

Judi-you hit the nail on the head, my life is what I'm waiting on, not just a man. He quickly became my everything, and then he left. Not because he wanted to, but he left all the same. October 15 can't get here soon enough, I'm ready to have my life back. I told him that he stole my heart and took it to Germany with him, and that it was up to him to bring it back in one piece.

GOALS
Calories ave 1350- 1399,1094, 1231
Eat vegies 3-5 serves – yes, yes, yes
Eat fruit 1 -2 serves- yes, yes if you count cranberry juice?, yes in juice form again
At least 7 hours of sleep a night – more like 6, not even close maybe 5 I keep waking up for some reason. YES! Finally.

Posting yesterdays (Wednesdays) goals tonight as I havn’t had time…. I will probably post todays numbers tomorrow morning.

I’m feeling much better today, I did a little walking while my car was back at the mechanics getting the last few things done before the big drive across to Adelaide in 2 weeks. I did cheat a little today, I ate two potato cakes and a choo choo licorice toffee bar but my numbers have been under most days so it should all balance out for the week.

I did make it through a work meeting without eating any of the tim tams that were plonked in front of me, I think they are an Aussie thing so I will explain that they are the most awesome chocolate covered indulgent bikkie and I love them but they are packed with calories.

Ann – congrats on keeping up with the exercise and seeing the results

Jenn- up and down stairs doing laundry totally counts in my book!

April- I hope your beautiful fur-kids feel better soon, I am a bit of a dog lover and I get upset when either of my poochies are sick.

Nobe- hang in there, remember that some gains are fluctuations and water weight. I zig zag all the time.

Judi – home made Khalua? Yummmmmmmmmmmyyyyy

Darlene – big hugs, it is not easy sometimes. Try making small changes first, something each day. Start by setting goals that you know you can stick to and work from there.

wildbeanerz 08-23-2012 01:34 AM

So this week's modified goals...
Goals begin on Tuesday this week
Health / Fitness Goals ...
1. 80 oz water (down from 100 for this week) T: 84oz, W: 100oz,
2. Walk on lunch 3 times from Tues - Fri T: 2-1/8 miles, W: 2 miles,
3. Exercise 3 times T: Yes (evening), W: Yes (morning),
4. Weigh and post it daily T: 230.6lbs, W: 231.0lbs, Th: 231.4lbs <~~~ Going the wrong direction! :o

Life Goals ...
1. Finish vacation laundry T: worked on it, W: all washed & dried just gotta fold the whites, sheets & blankets,
2. Don't stress about that thing you have no control over T: Yes, W: Yes,
3. Put antibiotic on the tat morning & night T: Yes, W: Yes,

I have been so bad at night this week. I am picking at leftovers in the fridge (cold spaghetti), spooning into the tub of ice cream right in the freezer, overeating on waldorf salad & trail mix. I don't know exactly what is going on but I am thinking that I am on the edge of PMS land again. Does anyone remember my excitement back in April to not have to deal with this anymore? Well I haven't been so lucky and it really irks me.

I have been quiet about this but it is killing me not to tell anyone so I'll tell you guys! Two weeks ago I applied for a job in the credit department of our company. It means a nice raise and overtime opportunities (not allowed any overtime now) and the job would be a challenge instead of mostly boring like I have now. I do love my current job because I get to be face to face with the customers and salespeople every day but the job feels below my abilities (if that makes sense). There are going to be very many people who are upset that I may leave this position because they are not fond of the person who will replace me. She has no people skills and spends a day or two a week in tears. The customers and the salespeople dislike her. When I take vacation and come back I always hear "Thank God it's you!" But....I am supposed to be presented with a job offer letter today! Of course, I will accept it. I wouldn't have applied if I didn't intend to accept it. I just won't know until later when I will be allowed to discuss it and when I will be able to move because of the need for the other person to wrap up their job duties in the other department (she is a do-it-all but does-nothing) kind of person whose responsibilities will probably just be distributed. She will need minimal training since she covers my vacations up here already. But I just had to tell someone, I am bouncing with energy right now since I heard this morning that they intend to offer it to me today! So as long as the offer is what we discussed, I will be accepting the offer today. :D

Congrats, April! So glad you were able to have an opportunity to make a move that uses your skills and provides more money...a win-win! :D

I know you feel for those who have to deal with your replacement, but this is yet another thing you are doing for you, and they will handle it the best way they can.

Nicaleh, glad you are back on the mend. I believe that a controlled cheat every once in a while is better than complete deprivation, though everyone is different.

Darlene, I understand the struggle. I've been there for most of this year and it's hard. Start with the basics, and don't be a stranger. We're here for you.

Tori, your delayed gratification will be worth it soon, I promise. Hang in there, keep busy.

Mike, how's your week?

01gt4.6 08-23-2012 02:19 AM

Casie, I'm okay, thanks. Haven't logged much but I'm going in the right direction. I just weighed in at 181.6. I finally got some sleep, which I've been needing desperately but I did wake up at 4am to swing the ban hammer. :) Still no policies for the week. :(

For all of you dog lovers....here is a picture of Chloe too. Can't leave out my spoiled baby girl. She'll be 3 in November. Macie (picture yesterday) turned 9 in April.

Judi ... The dogs seem better now. I still am not entirely sure which one it was. But I am leaning towards Macie (in the picture yesterday). She is pure boxer (BYB though) as is my other girl. ... So you are a loony bus driver. Does that mean you drive the short bus? LOL

ichalk2up ... The longer you chart it, the better the graphs will be. If I only look at the past 2 weeks it is horrible, but if I view 2 months I see a nice downward trend. ... The dogs are feeling better, thank you! What kind of dogs do you have?

Nobe ... Kudos on walking to & from work then standing all day.

Mern ... Miss you lady! Hope you are feeling better soon.

Terri ... Great to see you. I really miss chatting with you. Good luck on your first day!

Tori ... Oh girl, you have got it bad!

Dar ... ***offering you my hand to get back on the wagon*** ... honestly though if you need to chat, just let me know.

Nichaleh ... Tim tams avoided! They do look delicious though. .. Another dog lover? Cool!

Cassie ... Thank you for the work congrats! I don't like to be a job hopper but I am always looking for a way to further my career and it is a change from sales to credit so the mindset will be different. But the make up the raise that I will get with my yearly raises in my current position would take about 8 years at the current rate.

Mike ... Glad to hear your weight is going down. Mine, however, is going the opposite direction this week!

April -- HURRAY!!!!

Wonderful on the new job! :D Great news for you - and I am sure you'll excel in the new position. :):D:)

Finally got over 300 points in Wiifit boxing. I got up to 350 and 3 stars. I love how the little voice says "Nice job". Woohoo.
Grocery shopping this morning--lots of yummy fruits and veggies.

Congrats April on the job!

Dog lovers - I have to share a picture of our 2 girls - mother and daughter, Bailey Sioux and Ursa Major. They have both moved on to greener pastures, but were an important part of our lives.

April, I am very familiar with the boxer breed - my youngest sister showed and bred boxers for almost 10 years - they are true characters! And so expressive, and sweet. Give yours a hug for me - I sometimes do miss having a pooch in the house...

Hee hee... you called my bluff (which is awesome)! Yes I can, and absolutely should, start taking the long way around from now on, especially from 1pm to 3pm, when the leftovers are bound to be on display. :) At least I do not work on Fridays anymore, which is when they bring out the numerous boxes of donuts, bagels, and cream cheese in the mornings for the whole office to partake...

Although I did manage to have only one on my lunch break today. Go me!

OMG! Bread and baked goods on display every day! I would go nuts trying to stay out of it all... Great job passing on the muffins - I agree the chocolate are the best. And congratulations on the new job! It sounds like you are really enjoying it, which is so nice to hear after the crazy summer you had. I worked in a craft store once and really liked it, but what you are doing sounds like more fun. My paycheck would be in constant danger of never leaving the store! :)

You will learn how to deal with the temptation though. I may soon be moving back to the other building and even close to the kitchen this time if I do. :(

Test kitchen? Now that sounds dangerous... I have been planning my strategy and think that when I do cave to temptation that I should first do a big loop around the building - down 2 flights of stairs, walk around to the other side, up 2 other flights of stairs, through the entire office and back to the conference room - then snag a little bit of left overs to take back to my desk. No time to walk? - No goodies for me, gotta pay to play :D.

Oh yes, the test kitchen is very dangerous! I work for the second largest food distribution company in the US. They are constantly having customers in for cuttings and testing new products and recipes. Then all the leftovers go out in the breakroom. The new job that I just posted about a little bit ago will be in an office that is just around the corner from the kitchen! I do pretty well though because in group situations I rarely eat. And I will put off going to get anything until I can't anymore. Usually by that point everything that was good is already gone. LOL ... Mind games but they work.

Force yourself to drink a gallon (128oz) and you'll probably pee yellow. You'll probably lose a pound or two. ;)

Hi everyone- had a really busy day today but i like being out and about- drives me crazy sitting around with nothing to do. The kiddies went to their dads for the weekend this afternoon so i havent even had them to sort out.
This morning and all day ive been shopping for kids new kids school uniforms- its an all day task because going from one place to another seems to take forever on public transport. Inbetween ive had to go to my daughters speech therapy session and to the school nurse to talk about referrals about testing or Dyspraxia.
Then we did food shop and when we got home i wanted to be off again! Ive just walked around the shopping centre for 4 hours- all over, one shop to the next and back again. Im love to shop on my own- im a real browser who happily looks at one thing for 10 mins- get that from my dad.
I worked up an appetite and really wanted to snack but im really proud that i didnt give in to the treats on offer and waited til i got home to have 3 rice cakes, philidelphia extra light and 2 apples. Much better than a cupcake or mcdonalds!
So everythings got now for kids to go back to school- 11 days. Its time like this when i couldnt imagine having another child- theres just so much that they need!

Limit coffee to 16oz/day. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes
Get to the Gym 2x this week. Tuesday, Thursday
Write down all the things on my mental long-standing “to-do-list.” Wrote down several things.
Complete/start at least one item from my long-standing “to-do-list.” Started my wildfire evacuation plan.
Find the joy in everything in life, even the tough stuff. Trying hard, doing better ,Yes, Yes

I heard a trick for figuring out how much water to drink per day. Take your weight in lbs, divide it by 2 and that is the minimum number of ounces you should drink per day. For example - 150 lbs/2 = 75 oz H2O per day minimum.

Back and feeling better from my seasonal sinus allergies with no meds due to my upcoming routine blood test--which I had today. Thanks to those of you who posted well wishes. :) We had a bit of rain to clear the air and the humidity is low. Back to eating according to my goals and logging all my food.

I still haven't read the thread--just caught Tracey's

Tracey, I'm glad you had time to enjoy your shopping at a leisurely pace. :) Great job on the rice cakes and Philly instead of cupcakes or McDonald's. Way to go!

Mern 08-23-2012 10:51 AM

Darlene! Hi! I'm so glad you posted. I'm starting a fresh new three months today after having my quarterly blood test. How about you taking some baby steps to get back on the wagon. Tell us what you will try. We'll all be rooting you on! :)

Ama, nice job on your goals! Good to have that evacuation plan! Sounds like a great tip on the water.

April, congrats on the new job! Your dogs are adorable! Nothing wrong with mind games if that's what works. I have to do that with myself often.

Tracey, wishing you and your children a wonderful new school year.

Judi, your two dogs were beautiful!

Jenn, kudos on the WiiFit boxing!

Nichaleh, nice job on your eating despite the temptations. Congrats on balancing it out for the week. :)

Cassie, you're doing a really nice job on your goals so far this week! How is the boy's school year so far?

Nobe, my daughter, son and I all shop at the thrift shops. I'd be spending a lot of my paycheck there if I worked at one.

ichalk2up, not much IS easy, but you are doing a good job! Keep at it!

I care about each and every one of you but don't have time to get caught up with all I missed this week. So hi and big hugs to everyone I didn't address personally.

Mern - so glad things are better for you - your love and well-wishes for all on this thread is appreciated. Please know that that love is returned ten-fold!

Numbers du jour:
Calories: 1,578 Fats: 88.6g Carbs: 61.8g Proteins: 135.5g

Got some painting done (gads, I hate trim!), and tried making a new recipe: Paleo Pancit - a noodle dish (Phillipino, I think) - the noodles were subbed with shredded cabbage, and the meats were chicken, pork and shrimp. Quite tasty - didn't last long in this house:p! Will post the recipe in the low-carb recipe thread.

Baking day tomorrow (going to a party on Saturday, and got a request for monkey bread, plus making a couple loaves for a gift basket for the guest of honor), so gotta get the walking done early. Might try to can some salsa too - depending on how the day goes. See you on boards tomorrow!
