Is anyone else tired of not feeling sexy?

OK, first of all feeling sexy is differant things to differant people, just so we understand I'm not trying to be vulgar. My sexiness comes from confidence in knowing I feel attractive whether it be in the clothes I wear, my hairstyle, my fitness level or intelligence. When I feel attractive or at my best it shows in so many ways...I mean have you ever felt so good that you felt like you glowed? I remember feeling like that on my Wedding day ...all dressed up like a princess! I felt like I could do anything and I wanted nothing less for anyone else. I felt at my ultimate peak...that is where I want to be or as close to that as possible since that was 13yrs ago ;) I've been blessed in some many ways that I've overlooked the one thing that is stopping me from giving back the best of myself to others: ...75# of disgusting fat  So I'm gonna work at getting my sexy back...anyone of you feel the same?

kayleanicole 01-06-2010 01:20 AM

I feel the same way. FOr me it hasn't been years, its just been kids. I gained 60 lbs with my first and only lost 30 after, then gained 10 more. Now with my second I gained 40 lbs, losing only 20 after, which puts me at 162 lbs. It might not be alot for some, but my body type doesn't support that weight and isn't built for it. I lost my curves and my sexy too. The worst part is the extra weight makes me feel less sexy which in turn lowers my confidence, which in turn makes me even less sexy. My goal is to raise my self-esteem while I lower the weight. I just wish I could have the confidence back that I did, I think this is the larger turn off for my husband and myself than the weight is.

Destinyschoice76 01-06-2010 03:31 AM

Me too!

I am right there with both of you!! And I think you stated it very well.
I also miss feeling sexy and confident. I lost that along the way somewhere. I think it has come from alot of things, being overweight, becoming a mom, being married for 7 years and thus not flirting with or dating other guys.

I know it affects how I feel. I still feel attractive when I get dressed up for work and look professional. But I used to be so confident! I work alot with Dr's and other professionals. And it was fun to flirt and noticed them looking, etc. Now, I just don't feel sexy enough to care. It also affects how confident I am in my job and that really bothers me! Because the better I present myself, often the better outcome I can acheive for my clients.

So here is to us getting back that sexy & confident feeling again. We just form our own club! The Sexy Girls!, LOL

Thanks for putting this idea out there. It is sooo true, but is not often talked about. I love this site and the forums!

ME! I remember being excited at how I looked and felt and knowing it was exciting to my husband. I've only gained a little bit of weight, but it is appalling how my attitude toward myself has changed with two kids. It's like I get lost in the mommy persona, and my physical being and the health of my relationships with everyone else (especially my husband!) has to take a total backseat. I adore my children, but it is time for me to re-learn how to love myself, so I can give some of that to the rest of the people around me.

JRamirez24 01-06-2010 06:41 AM

I am! I want to be able to look in the mirror and feel beautiful and sexy.
To me sexiness is linked to confidence and right now im lacking confidence. My weight is keeping me from enjoying myself and it has brought my self esteem down a lot, but I will stick to this and make it a change in 2010!

Here we go girls lets get our sexy back!

I know what you mean about husbands, my husband always reassures me that I'm still sexy, but unless you feel that way you don't feel confident right? Well, together we can all get back that sexy lovin feelin :) Thanks for being among the few, the brave,(no not the Marines ha-ha ) the Sexy girls. I think we found the perfect name for us! Be proud of the steps you're taking to feel more confident, after all pride is very sexy !

You absolutely right as women we lose ourselves to the mom and wife personna's and for the most part we enjoy those roles, but somewhere deep inside us is the women we were, the women that we love just as much as the wife and mom. Lets find our hidden self- the sexy, confident happy women we are...we are now a group! We are the sexy girls :) Long Live the Sexy Girls !

Good Morning Sexy Friends :)

Good Morning ! Just getting home from work. Yes I work nights 7p- 7a which sometimes makes dieting all that much more fun. For example I had a totally stressfull shift so what do I do ? I come home and eat:confused: Don't worry I didn't completely sabotage my diet I finished off my omelet from last night's dinner. Today I'm joing the gym. After all exercising is totally sexy right? Of course it is! Do any of you work nights...any diet tips that work well for you? Lately I've been packing small snacks about 100 calories each? Do any of you eat out of frustration? Leaves me feeling pretty bad about myself when I do it... Well I'm just gonna remind myself that I didn't fail I just made a mistake and I will start over when I wake up this afternoon. I hope you all have a great day! Remember if we stick together and support each other we can do this!

lmhiguera 01-07-2010 06:19 PM

the best thing I've done to make me feel sexy

Nothing has contributed to my sexiness quotient quite like belly dancing! I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone out there - most community and adult schools offer it now, and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your home if you choose, because there's so many instructional dvds out on the market, and even a cable show! If any one gets FitTv, check out "Shimmy" - great for all levels, from beginner to advanced (no, I have no stock in the show, but sure wish I did! LOL!) - And best of all, it DOESN'T MATTER if you are overweight, belly dancers come in ALL SHAPES AND SIZES! Trust me on this one, it's so fun and is a great calorie burner to boot.

Remember, sexy is a state of mind - tell yourself everyday that you are sexy and beautiful, and you will be! ;)

Fallrvr 01-07-2010 11:19 PM

LADIES, LADIES, my weight is like a yoyo, 10 lbs on and off, and I know when I have to get the muffin tops down, but I feel sexy with 30 extra pounds on as much as I do with no extra weight! As for diet tips, Come home from work, cook supper for the family, then, sneak into your "workout space", have a great workout ALONE, then immediately finish, and then go eat what you want for supper! You will burn that meal off in 20 minutes cause you just worked out! THEN do not eat after supper! Works for me, you wake up starving cause your body burns while you sleep, and DRINK TONS OF WATER. You will be amazed at how fast you lose the weight when you do cardio 5x a week for 45 minutes! The weight just melts off you! Good luck and ALWAYS feel sexy, big or small!

msmarilyn3 01-07-2010 11:38 PM

Belly dancing sounds too fun :) I know some movie rental places will even allow you to take out instructional videos free of charge no rental fee :) Family Video is one that does. So, we can all shimmy are way to Sexy :)

msmarilyn3 01-07-2010 11:39 PM

Thanks for the diet tips!

dj_kymba 01-08-2010 08:59 AM

Hi Sexy Ladies!! I'm a n00b here, and this is my first post... but I feel where you are all coming from. I used to have body confidence, but after some debilitating injuries to my knees a few years back I totally let myself go. But I have decided that 2010 is the year for me to get my sexy back! Girl power! We can do this!

my_new_guitar 01-08-2010 01:39 PM

I almost cried when I read the first post. You where able to put into words what has been nagging at me and taking away from so many parts of my life. I am a young married woman but after cleaning, taking care of the baby all day, fitting college homework in between diapers, and caring for a farm-full I, in no way, feel sexy. There are little things that help (painting my nails, a good yoga workout, a long shower) but I don't have time, energy, and I don't know about you but when I look in the mirror at the end of the day I see a worn out mom, student, maid and nurse that ate what she could get ahold of throughout the day and it went straight to the baby belly. Like many of you I do have a loving husband that finds me sexy at any size at least.

msmarilyn3 01-10-2010 02:26 AM

Good for You ! I Love your enthusiasm:) What is your plan? I just got back on board a week ago and I already feel so much healthier and everyone knows a healthy person is a Sexy person right (lol) I try to check in frequently so I'm happy to have someone else travel along the path back to health and sexiness with! Got any great diet tips? I like to use a diet journal I find that if I document what I eat I do much better and lose weight easier. One of my favorite links is : Fitday.com or Sparkpeople.com although Spark people is more involved...check them out.

Wow, it sounds like you have a lot going on in your life...what are you going to school for? Are you able to carve some time out for yourself? Sometimes just starting with positive affirmations can make a differance. It seems silly but if you can start out each day saying something positive about yourself it may make a differance. Say, you look in the mirror and think ...My hair looks good today or I like the way I did my eye makeup anything positive about yourself. Keep it up adding more positive thoughts throughout the day it will help. You sound like an extraordinary person! Be proud of all you are already doing to make yourself better...knowledge alone is very Sexy! Remember that song by Christina Aguilera "You're Beautiful" :)

Bringin' Sexy Back - Yeah

I am totally with you on this one. I do not feel sexy at all. My husband is supportive as well, but it's how we see ourselves that really counts. If I'm not feeling confident in my body, it's going to be really hard to show confidence to others. I have been trying to lose weight for years and in 2007 I was all motivated. When the Justin Timberlake song came out "Bringin' Sexy Back", I thought, that's my theme song this year! I did ok, then got pregnant with my son the end of 2007 and out the door went my weightloss goals. I actually did lose a little weight in the beginning, and didn't get totally out of control during the pregnancy, but I started out about 40 lbs overweight.

I had my baby in July 2008 by emergency c-section. I felt totally betrayed by my body. It wasn't what I had 'planned' at all for his birth and it was much harder to recover then from a 'normal' birth. 2009 brought life crisis and I didn't get motivated until the end of the year.

I have my 20 year High School reunion and a family reunion this year and I want to have my picture taken without me throwing them all away afterwards! So , it's ON...in 2010, I'll be sexy again!

It sounds like you have a goal date in mind....that is good:) It sometimes helps to have a date to work towards, but if you're anything like me you'll need to remember not to give up after that date. I tend to get lazy after my goal date and the pounds slide back on :( Keeping a diet journal helps alot and remember to be kind to yourself too. This morning I woke up feelin kinda bummed out because the weight isn't coming off quick enough so I have to remind myself that I didn't put on the weight overnight and keep plugging along. This site is a big help there:) Think happy thoughts because in todays world which can be full of havoc Happy= SEXY!

msmarilyn3 01-14-2010 10:29 AM

I found out exercising makes me feel more confident

:p Just got back from working out and ya know what I feel good;) I worked with the trainer today just doing some basic exercises squats, presses and such. I was afraid to do the squats I thought I'd fall flat on my ass, but I didn't! So yeah for me!!!! I think I'll go back tomorrow too! Did any of you work out today! We'll gotta go I'm on my way to a sexier self;)

missmaggieelizabeth 01-14-2010 12:39 PM

OK Reading this thread I did put dinner in the oven and rode my stationary bike for three miles. Only about 10 minutes worth. I am not supposed to be exercising yet so need to take it easy. But it felt good. I could feel the burn in my legs. Dinner will be ready in half an hour or less. I want to feel like I am sexy again. So hard when I can not even shower with the light on. Yet that is!!

msmarilyn3 01-15-2010 12:55 AM

Miss Maggie I know just how you feel - You said you're not suppose to be exercising yet have you been sick or had surgery? Please don't over do things ok? Remember to pay attention to your body cues like sore muscles or tiredness. Exercising is good but make sure it's ok for you I wouldn't want you to do harm? Remember the sexy is still there it is just a little hidden right now- go ahead turn the lights on and pretend it is Sunshine :)
Have a great day and remember Healthy= Sexy

missmaggieelizabeth 01-15-2010 11:15 PM

msmarilyn,

Thank you for your nice answer. I am having server issues and could not get back here or if I did could not get my posts to go through. Darn needing to change servers. Not liking that. Makes me want to eat the WHOLE refirgerator. :(

Yes I am having surgery for a little problem and need to take it easy until it all heals. I am still walking only not all that far. Soon I should be able to get into exercising. I do want to exercise and hoping when I can my weight will start to go down. At least I have lost inches. Just not enough. I think I need to lower my carbs. Up my protein. Will give that a try and see if it helps. As for the rest I have been really good no cheating. After all I am only cheating myslef.

Maggie

msmarilyn3 01-16-2010 05:12 AM

Hi Maggie,
Sounds like you're doing all the right things, especially cutting the carbs. I find that if I cut out the junk carbs and Increase my protien I feel full longer which is always a plus when you're on a diet. My doctor told me not to worry so much about carbs from natural sources like fruit just don't overdo it :)

snolyzard 01-16-2010 01:35 PM

I'm with all you ladies, feeling very un-sexy lately, also a mom, also have a supportive loving husband. I had my daughter in 2/09, gained 60 lbs in the pregnancy when I was already about 10# overweight. I've lost 35 lbs since, then my weight loss stalled and decided I'm going to have to work hard to get to where I should be. Since re-starting fitday (I've been a member for probably like 8 years) on new year's and working out 6 days a week I've lost 2 lbs per week! I'm really motivated and realize that this isn't going to be easy, but will be so worth it. I'm bringing sexy back and want to be at my goal weight by my 30th birthday in July!

msmarilyn3 01-17-2010 04:45 PM

Snolzhard, Sounds like you got a plan:) That'll definately help!

kgbrav 01-17-2010 05:20 PM

this was the theme of the day for me!

I went in to log in my food and I forgot this had a forum and decide to check it out. I couldnt believe this thread was on here about feeling sexy. I am trying to lose 32 lbs and kids and a VERY tough marriage where my husband is having issues himself therefore isnt very romantic or complimentary so therefore i feel non existant...ugly, and lost. So we had a huge fight today got some stuff out in the open and then he said something about how i dont take care to be sexy! i was like whatever!! I think I am attractive and yes i think once i lose the weight i would feel amazing. so like you all i am trying to get my sexy bk. I dont think I ever really felt it, so here's to me trying to find it at 36!

good luck everyone!:D

msmarilyn3 01-18-2010 05:11 AM

Kgbrav it's hard to feel sexy living with a person with issues....my husband has been a total moody ass crank lately so I've been kinda within myself not sad but not to up either ya know? Men are total freaks ha? I'm glad you're with us :) We're a great group of ladies interested in getting back to feeling good about ourselves. You're only 36 that is the perfect age to feel SEXY!

mepgirl 01-18-2010 05:12 AM

I'd like to join you sexy girls too. I'm struggling to get that confidence back too! I'm not very over weight, but I feel horrible and embarrassed. This time I'm dieting and exercising with my husband, so hopefully it will be easier!

mepgirl 01-18-2010 05:51 AM

My issues: I recently quit smoking and I swear the pounds just came on one a day for weeks! And I've never been into exercising. I don't enjoy it. I wish there were a magic brainwashing I could undergo to "like" working out. I got a tread mill a couple years ago and made good progress, then hurt my knees. Got a Wii, used it for a week, and now have tennis elbow...Plantar's facitiis in my right foot makes step aerobics impossible! But I resolved to 30 mins a day and I did go on the treadmill this morning. I also don't want to give up my 1 to3 glasses of wine a night. So husband and I decided we'd just not open a bottle tonight and see if we can manage without vino. (If we can't I might have to join another forum for winos)!

chrispearson 01-18-2010 08:12 AM

You took the words right out of my mouth

I would like to join this forum. It is funny because the posts start in reverse and the very first post sounded like I could have written it. I am so tired of telling myself that the inside is what counts when my insides are really tired of what my outside looks like. Just turned 40 and am so ashamed that I haven't learned to take care of myself yet...too busy taking care of everyone else...my new year's resolution this year was to get back some vanity and I think what I was saying was...I want to feel sexy again :D:D

MarkysMom 01-18-2010 01:46 PM

Ladies, my un-sexy self would like to join the party. :) When my husband tells me I'm beautiful, I would like to respond positively instead of rolling my eyes or saying "yeah, right." I finally got brave enough to weigh, and sisters, I am 100 freakin' pounds overweight. How did that happen???? I'm 44, been married 2 years, have a 16-month-old and a wonderful husband, and have turned into this obese woman with no stamina or energy. I can't even wear my beautiful engagement ring - fingers are too fat. However, today I ate well, exercised, and joined fitday. It WILL get better and I WILL be sexy. Thanks for the encouragement!

msmarilyn3 01-18-2010 11:33 PM

Good for you Chris! that is what were all about taking care of us! Being the best we can be and in doing so getting our sexy back :) I'm also in my 40's which is young these days...thank god :) So, it is not too late to take care of yourself and become the person you want to be! Welcome to our group!

msmarilyn3 01-18-2010 11:40 PM

Hey Marky's Mom I know exactly how you feel I have gained many pounds since I got married and I was wondering why that sometimes happens to women...do we get married and stop trying? I don't think so, I think men sometimes stay thinner because they have someone who takes care of all their needs. I had to recently have my rings enlarged but I was tired of not being able to wear them. My husband complains that I never believe him when he tells me he still thinks I'm beautiful...but I have to feel beautiful myself before I can believe other people might find me beatiful....so I'm working on getting my sexy back and it feels great:)

msmarilyn3 01-18-2010 11:43 PM

mepgirl it is great you have your husbands support - most people do better if another person is working with them! Welcome to our group:)

chrispearson 01-19-2010 10:58 AM

Hey everybody, day two of trying to stick to a diet and I didn't realize how hard it is to stay in the fat and calorie range. I am trying alli to see if it will help me get some results so I stick with it this time. 1,400 calories and 48 grams of fat seems to be a really hard goal to stick to. By dinner I was redoing my fitday food intake trying to adjust it enough so I could eat and not totally blow my numbers.:rolleyes:carrots instead of tator tots and mustard instead of ketchup helped...but when I have to start subbing like that it starts to make me feel deprived.:mad:The thing I like about fitday is the fact that it holds me accountable for every ounce of food I put in my mouth...that really makes me think about it BEFORE I eat it. Anyone else try alli? I am hoping that it is not all hype. Christine

MarkysMom 01-19-2010 12:28 PM

Hi, Christine. I'm Christine, too. Also my 2nd day, and I did pretty badly on my food choices. I didn't eat a lot, but what I did eat was apparently calorie-dense, b/c I popped up there pretty quickly. Part of it was taking care of leftovers and part of it was being out at suppertime, so we ended up w/pizza instead of my cooking. I thought I was doing well by just eating 2 slices - HA! I still came home and exercised after putting ds to bed - 20 minutes on elliptical and 12 on treadmill, 2 minutes longer than yesterday and I maintained intensity instead of dropping it down. Tomorrow I will do better with food choices.

I haven't tried Alli, but I've heard good things about it. Are you using it?

MarkysMom 01-19-2010 12:32 PM

Hey, Marilyn. My husband is quite a bit overweight, so he's going to join me as soon as his bronchitis+other crud goes away. Right now he breaks into coughing fits just walking across the room. He's got crazy-strong will power, though, so he does much better with food choices than I do. But he's a good encourager, so I have faith that I can do this! I haven't told him I'm "getting my sexy back" - I'll just surprise him one day. Once I lose my first 10 I'm buying myself some pretty underwear. Small goals... :)

chrispearson 01-20-2010 10:12 AM

Christine...doing alli right now...but this is only my third day so I don't have much to report in the weightloss dept. I also don't have anything to report in the side-effect dept. either...so that is good. I did so much better today with my food choices...I actually had calories and fat left over after dinner!:D:D for those of you who are looking for a good "snack" I have been eating the fullbars (they sell them at my Walmart now!), only I don't do it the 1/2 an hour before lunch or dinner b/c I only serve myself a set portion and make sure I can't go back to get more...so instead I have been having them as an afternoon snack b/c I have to eat lunch at 11:07-11:37 (I teach) and so at 3:04 I eat one so I can make it to dinner w/o eating something really bad for me...the chocolate ones taste like a chocolate rice crispy treat! I like the PB too...but not as good as the chocolate...it feels naughty w/o being naughty and they are sooo much bigger physically then a lot of the healthy snack bars that it really feels like a treat!
