My issues: I recently quit smoking and I swear the pounds just came on one a day for weeks! And I've never been into exercising. I don't enjoy it. I wish there were a magic brainwashing I could undergo to "like" working out. I got a tread mill a couple years ago and made good progress, then hurt my knees. Got a Wii, used it for a week, and now have tennis elbow...Plantar's facitiis in my right foot makes step aerobics impossible! But I resolved to 30 mins a day and I did go on the treadmill this morning. I also don't want to give up my 1 to3 glasses of wine a night. So husband and I decided we'd just not open a bottle tonight and see if we can manage without vino. (If we can't I might have to join another forum for winos)!

Talking You took the words right out of my mouth

I would like to join this forum. It is funny because the posts start in reverse and the very first post sounded like I could have written it. I am so tired of telling myself that the inside is what counts when my insides are really tired of what my outside looks like. Just turned 40 and am so ashamed that I haven't learned to take care of myself yet...too busy taking care of everyone else...my new year's resolution this year was to get back some vanity and I think what I was saying was...I want to feel sexy again

Ladies, my un-sexy self would like to join the party. When my husband tells me I'm beautiful, I would like to respond positively instead of rolling my eyes or saying "yeah, right." I finally got brave enough to weigh, and sisters, I am 100 freakin' pounds overweight. How did that happen???? I'm 44, been married 2 years, have a 16-month-old and a wonderful husband, and have turned into this obese woman with no stamina or energy. I can't even wear my beautiful engagement ring - fingers are too fat. However, today I ate well, exercised, and joined fitday. It WILL get better and I WILL be sexy. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hey Marky's Mom I know exactly how you feel I have gained many pounds since I got married and I was wondering why that sometimes happens to women...do we get married and stop trying? I don't think so, I think men sometimes stay thinner because they have someone who takes care of all their needs. I had to recently have my rings enlarged but I was tired of not being able to wear them. My husband complains that I never believe him when he tells me he still thinks I'm beautiful...but I have to feel beautiful myself before I can believe other people might find me beatiful....so I'm working on getting my sexy back and it feels great

Hey everybody, day two of trying to stick to a diet and I didn't realize how hard it is to stay in the fat and calorie range. I am trying alli to see if it will help me get some results so I stick with it this time. 1,400 calories and 48 grams of fat seems to be a really hard goal to stick to. By dinner I was redoing my fitday food intake trying to adjust it enough so I could eat and not totally blow my numbers.carrots instead of tator tots and mustard instead of ketchup helped...but when I have to start subbing like that it starts to make me feel deprived. The thing I like about fitday is the fact that it holds me accountable for every ounce of food I put in my mouth...that really makes me think about it BEFORE I eat it. Anyone else try alli? I am hoping that it is not all hype. Christine

Hi, Christine. I'm Christine, too. Also my 2nd day, and I did pretty badly on my food choices. I didn't eat a lot, but what I did eat was apparently calorie-dense, b/c I popped up there pretty quickly. Part of it was taking care of leftovers and part of it was being out at suppertime, so we ended up w/pizza instead of my cooking. I thought I was doing well by just eating 2 slices - HA! I still came home and exercised after putting ds to bed - 20 minutes on elliptical and 12 on treadmill, 2 minutes longer than yesterday and I maintained intensity instead of dropping it down. Tomorrow I will do better with food choices.

I haven't tried Alli, but I've heard good things about it. Are you using it?

Hey, Marilyn. My husband is quite a bit overweight, so he's going to join me as soon as his bronchitis+other crud goes away. Right now he breaks into coughing fits just walking across the room. He's got crazy-strong will power, though, so he does much better with food choices than I do. But he's a good encourager, so I have faith that I can do this! I haven't told him I'm "getting my sexy back" - I'll just surprise him one day. Once I lose my first 10 I'm buying myself some pretty underwear. Small goals...

Christine...doing alli right now...but this is only my third day so I don't have much to report in the weightloss dept. I also don't have anything to report in the side-effect dept. either...so that is good. I did so much better today with my food choices...I actually had calories and fat left over after dinner! for those of you who are looking for a good "snack" I have been eating the fullbars (they sell them at my Walmart now!), only I don't do it the 1/2 an hour before lunch or dinner b/c I only serve myself a set portion and make sure I can't go back to get more...so instead I have been having them as an afternoon snack b/c I have to eat lunch at 11:07-11:37 (I teach) and so at 3:04 I eat one so I can make it to dinner w/o eating something really bad for me...the chocolate ones taste like a chocolate rice crispy treat! I like the PB too...but not as good as the chocolate...it feels naughty w/o being naughty and they are sooo much bigger physically then a lot of the healthy snack bars that it really feels like a treat!
