Going to be another busy day at work!! Checking in/catching up quickly before I go back to the insanity Did some soul-searching last night and feeling calm again today. One of these days I will accept that I am an introspective person and need my think-time!

Mike: I don't have time to feel like a new woman! lol. I do feel good, though - I am skipping makeup today (Friday) since I'll be doing some things with animals all day and it'll just get smudged. One day when I get more into weights/toning I might try this whole squatting business - I tend to get hung up on doing machines at the gym and not free weights.

Mern: You always make me smile - I am happy my averages and the core goals are staying good, though I'm upset about my water intake! It always seems to be the first thing to go when I'm busy. It's rough, because I can't carry water into the lab or animal rooms - and if I'm in there all day, well, tough! lol. You're making me blush with all the compliments. I'm just a newbie in my field, really - hopefully one day I will be great and well-respected (though I REALLY just want to be happy). With a grandmother/mother like you, I'm sure your kids and grandkids will work themselves out in the end!

Amy: Aaaaaah, sneaky ninja hash browns!!! It seems like our devils are all acting up this week - maybe it's because Halloween is on the horizon?

wowgirl: Congrats on the week off, new job AND the new low! Great week for you!!

Darlene: I can't complain in the winter when I'm not shoveling snow -- I think I miss fall the most, though! Thank you for the good wishes. I'm getting there!

Nailkita: INTO THE "ONES"!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Rose: You are SUCH a sweetheart, thank you so much for the pep talk! I'm trying not to impose a number too much, even if I am gunning for being under 160. I think I CAN do that, so I will. I don't want to become number-obsessed. That seems to come-and-go with me, and right now it's "on" as it were. Thank you for all the love and I hope you have a BLAST in Amsterdam.

Food, Exercise, Lifestyle Goals:

1) Average 1,200-1,400 calories for the week. No single day over 1,600 cals. M: 1,087 T: 1,395 W: 932 Th: 1,328 (Week Average 1,185.5)

Well, I couldn't stay off the scale this morning even though TOTM is coming -- but I was happy to see a 163.6! The scale has been bouncy lately, but that's ok -- I'll take the new low!!!

Off to the lab - have a good Friday everyone!

Mike, all I have to say is if you do Blast and feel the need to share, do it in white, so I can avoid the food porn. I'm feeling weak today and there is still the better part of a bucket of vanilla fudge swirl in the back of the deep freezer, and we all know the rump roasts piled in front of it will not deter me and my spoon. And there are 3 - 1 lb bags of Reese's PB cups to smash into the fudge swirl. I may have to leave the house today, with my wallet in the boot.

Mern honey, did you manage to over come your hungry evening? I hate it when that happens. I can do really well all day long, but wake up hungry in the middle of the night, and it's usually one those days where I'm still hungry after dinner. Just give the little devil a drop kick.

Rose, I do not have a will of steel, I ate those hashbrowns in like 3 seconds and and followed that with some serious plate licking. Ugh, weak I tell you. I'm so envious of your trip to Amsterdam. I've been and let me just say that it's not um, the calories you have to worry about recovering from. Anyway I hope you have a great time! Okay we have cold weather here, but not so cold that my eye lashes have ever frozen together!!! Wow that's a new level of cold I had not imagined. We have quite a lot of "booger freezing cold", but our eyeballs are still okay. So boogers must freeze faster than eyeballs, good to know...

Terri, okay maybe you had a goal of 140 for the wedding, but seriously it's not about getting to a certain number by a certain day. It's about getting healthy and fit and living a healthy life, right? Besides you've lost 50lbs + and you'll be seeing people that haven't seen you in a while, so it's going to be a huge shock to them. Believe me there will be a ton of well deserved compliments, probably to the point of gushing. And even if you don't notice any actual gushing, you will be the talk in the ladies room for certain.

wowgirl, WOW girl, good job on the drop. And congratulations on your new job!!! Awesome.

darlene, good luck with the baby shower. You're right there is always a bunch of junkie munchies at those things, but I guess in the grand scheme of things, it's worthy of a celebration cheat day.

Mary, I had this vision of doing "snow flake stabbing" only using a pair of hand weights to hammer them with, and it was a good vision until it occurred to me that I might cold cock myself.

Cassie girl, where are you?

Terri, last night I did bulgarian split squats, with no weights. Regular squats I use weight but you don't have to have weights for splits squats. The only thing you need is a chair. I can send you a link on how to do them if you'd like.

I am sorry that I don't have time to reply to everyone today. My day is so busy right now. I am so glad to see that most of us are doing better at listening to the angels over the devils. My angel better have her game face on today because lunch is provided by what I am told is one of the best italian restaurants in our area. I have been wanting to go there and try it but what better way to try it than to be able to sample different things for free. I just have to be super careful. I was very good so far today so I should be fine and we are having fish for dinner tonight. I tend to be safest in a crowd because my low self esteem won't allow me to look like I am eating too much. I never want someone to look at my plate and think ... no wonder she is so fat!

The cold weather... HA! It usually starts snowing here around Halloween and doesn't stop until about Easterish. We don't usually get the bitter cold but the past few winters we have had -15* or so for a week or so on end. That is pretty darn cold. They rarely cancel school here. They will delay it until the sun is shining good for the kids to stand on the bus stop.

Hopefully I make it back later to reply to everyone else though.

Default Diet being sabataged

I've read the stories about people having family members sabatage their diet and figured I'd share what happend to me this morning. I got up during the middle of the night and had a PB&J sammich (the devil made me do it). Later I wake up and laid in bed thinking that this was a great day for a cheat, since I was off to a bad start. I lay there and start thinking about it. Just as I'm about to hop out of bed, get ready for work and head out to get donuts I hear "I made you breakfast". I was like "Oh I was just about to get donuts, what did you make". The response... "Eggs and bacon." I struggle to choke down eggs plus I had eggs yesterday. I was so set on a cheat b/c I already started the day off the wrong way. So I decided to have the smaller plate of eggs and went and got one donut instead of my usual two. Up next is a blast, I won't give the gory details.

Argh, I have to say it is nice to look through these when I have a chance, I'm having a real emo of a day... the scale this morning said I was back up to 200... I was not impressed, and then at work, talking with certain people of high status at lunch I wanted to drown myself in my soup I'm an akward person and have trouble starting a conversation, and started one about marriage that just made me wanna say "forget I brought it up, just shut up and eat" And now I'm just so aggravated...

I want to say to the big honcho that "I do not have to delve out my life for your approval, and I don't need to have scientific facts to hold a conversation about life and people! Get over yourself not every conversation is an argument for your enjoyment!" but I don't wanna get fired >.>

Mike: Tsk, to intentional cheating, shouldn't give yourself that. then you'll be like, well since I cheated yesterday I might as well cheat tomorrow and so on.

Taubele: Uh oh looks like you're running out of time to clean out your car I need to clean mine out too... my boyfriend drinks a lot of soda and the cans and bottles always wind up in the passenger side wheel well GROSS

Almeeker: I wouldn't punish yourself for getting a little extra sleep some days, your body will tell you what you need. Some days when I couldn't get up for morning exercise I'd denote it a cooldown day where I'd just do a little yoga that night to calm down for better sleep.

Dar n: Tough some days eh, everytime I come here there's a page and a half added, I was the same way yesterday with my boss breathing down my neck.

Goals: My goals aren't going so well.
I'm over on sodium again today.
And looks like I'm back at 200

Mike, I didn't let the group down. LOL I did resist the extra snacks and chocolate last night and stayed totally within my food goals. Thanks for "the pressure." Glad your muscle soreness is the good kind meaning you're working harder than before. Hope you get over your runny nose soon. Mine is almost always from seasonal allergies. I totally understgand about your craving for a blast. We had hot soft pretzels in the house last week and I finally caved and ate one just to get the craving out of my system. I figured if I didn't, by the time the craving got too strong I'd eat two or three in one sitting instead of one. Oh, that's so fun to think you're over on a food target and then you find out you simply logged something wrong. I did that last week.

Wowgirl, again, I so admire you for your self-discipline to do Paleo. I misunderstood--I thought you were checking with a doctor to see if you needed supplements. I was taking 2000mg fish oil capsules per day but got my doc's approval to increase it to 4000mg to help further reduce my high triglycerides and cholesterol with dietary restrictions instead of meds.

Darlene, thanks for the kudos. I was able to make myself stay off the computer again today until I got my exercise in, but it may be easier for me than for most of you since I don't work outside the home. Wow, you're STILL doing great on exercise this week! Congratulations! How was your cupcake and frog cookies willpower at the baby shower?

Rose, it's hard enough to keep up with the posts in the USA time zones--we're such a yacky bunch. I'll bet all of us understand the time differences in the posts from you, Lizzie, and others. We appreciate your comments whenever we get them. Besides, some of our problems and experiences are "timeless" anyway. You probably won't read this until after you get back from Amsterdam. Hope you have or had a great weekend there. Thanks for your kudos on my exercise--not really rocking it but am getting a little more self-discipline for the rest of the week. On the cholesterol reduction, my doc didn't have any additional pointers besides what I had already found on the Internet, either, but it was good to be able to discuss them with her and we formulated a specific plan of attack together after discussing the issue.

Amy, only 50 calories over after hash browns is marvelous! Way to go! Your calorie deficit and other achievements are something to be proud of, too! I totally agree that sometimes sleep is more important than the exercise goal. You're the only one in your body, so no one can say you made a bad choice there. UGH, I did avoid the devil's temptations, but went to bed hungry and then woke up a few times hungry. I came and played a couple games on the computer to keep myself from going to the kitchen. But I'm glad I did it. I have to get back to planning my menu on a daily basis.

Terri, woohoo! Congrats on that new low weight! each of us is different. For a while there I believed I was committing a mortal sin by not drinking 64 oz. per day, but then I saw a doctor on TV say not everyone needs that much. And, geez, it certainly is understandable that with your work situation you aren't always able to each your water goal. Just don't be so hard on yourself. Like Amy, despite missing your target this week on some things, you continue to excel in your calorie intake and deficit. Congrats to ya on that. Thanks for your sweet comment about my kids/grandkids working themselves out in the end. My 7 year old grandson has been sitting at the "naughty table" in the school cafeteria all week for his participation in a second food fight. I don't know what happened last week but he claimed that on Monday a boy dumped pudding on his head, so in retaliation he threw a French fry at the boy but missed and it hit a little girl innocent bystander on the back of the neck. My grandson was caught by the principal. I saw the principal this morning when I took the kids to school and he was so sweet. He gave me two thumbs up and said, "We'll get Dustin right."

No time to proofread, so please read what I meant, not what I typed. LOL I gotta go pick up grandkids from high school. Will try to catch up with the rest of the posts later. Note to self: start with Mike's post #173.

You are my SUPER HERO today! I can ignore that devil most of the day, angel keeps him in line, but when he wakes me up in the middle of the night he's just flat out naughty and seductive. Whispers sweet nothings in my ear that angel can't hear, like "mmmmm ice cream, with hot fudge on top, let's go move the rump roasts together eh?, nachos nachos nachos with lots of melty cheese". See what I'm up against? He fights dirty I tell you. So you play computer games and that shuts him up? I'll have to try that, usually I read or knit and watch the history channel, but both of those activities go quite well with snacks, especially the reading.

There is probably enough room in the top half of the ice cream bucket to hold all of the PB cups, man that would make a big fat Blast!!! Can't you just picture it as I hold the plastic bucket under my Kitchen Aid mixer, surrounded by piles of orange and brown wrappers, some of which that have been slobbered on a little?

Now tell me, does a Blast come with a straw, a spoon or a stroon (cross between the two)? I have straws and spoons, but if it's a stroon I'll have to improvise.
