I lost another pound too! That makes my grand total 7.6 pounds in 5 weeks and 45 pounds to go until I meet my ultimate goal. I am happy with these results even though I was bummed out at first because I didn't have a big loss after week 1. The first couple of weeks were slow but the exercise I am doing is changing my shape so much that I am not focusing all my attention on the scale.
Continued success, Everyone! |
Just signed up today!
Hi Everyone,
It's so nice to know I'm not alone - this is hard work. In the past few years I've gained 50 pounds, and I've just got to take it off. I cringe when I look in the mirror. All of you are my inspiration and I've just got to believe we can do it. Well, on Monday I weighed 211, today 208. I've been at 205 plus or minus a few pounds for quite a while. I'm looking for a magic bullet - hope you guys are it!!! |
Keep it up everyone! Looks like we're seeing results - so WOOHOO! Anyone start to notice definite body changes? This morning as i was looking in the mirror I noticed....I had a butt! No more flabby, fat asian booty. It's actually...dare I say, round?
|
Weighed in today (3 days late :/) and good news! 227.3! That is a grand total 2.7lb loss in almost 3 weeks! I was so happy when I read those numbers on the scale this morning!
I haven't changed much in my diet but i have been running every night and I started doing some of the exercises on exercise TV. They're fun but boy are my butt muscles sore!! Its all worth it though! I plan to take measurements soon so i can see the inches change too! This is all very exciting! :D |
Lost 3lbs first week
Hello ladies,
it is so great to have the support of fellow thinner thinkers. Well, I am proud to say I lost 3 lbs my first week. I have not been so good on the diet thing today. Yesterday was my first week. So, back at it tomorrow. I am not going to obsess about any of it. Not feeling very well today though and I think that is partly because how I started my day. 2 donuts with my grandson who spent the night and coffee. The coffee is ok but I felt really sick after I took him home and went to the store. I realized at 10:30 I had not had any water, ate donuts and coffee at 5:30 am, and I had not had anything else to eat. So, got home, drank lots of water, ate a salad with ham and a slice of imported swiss cheese and then about an hour later had a piece of cake. Feeling a little better but very run down. So, I will take care of me and will enjoy the grilled corn on the cob, pork ribs I cooked in the crock pot and will finish off on the grill with some veggie kabobs. I love those veggies. :) So, will have some San Pelligrino sparkling water while my partner has his few beers and move into eatting then later about 9:00 pm watch the fireworks from our back deck. It will be awesome. Happy 4th of July to the Americans on this forum. Back on track tomorrow morning early with a walk. Thanks for posting everyone, it is encouraging to read of everyone's successes and struggles. Hugs, Sue |
Happy 4th of July to all our American friends!
Sweetsu, grilled corn on the cob is my favourite food! I just love it. I was in Mexico City recently and had some there that was absolutely delicious. Glad to hear that you are taking care of yourself and congratulations on that 3lb loss! HippyLoveChild, congrats on your 2.7lb loss. I have been running too. I'm doing the Couch To 5k program and I love it. Mitzi, welcome and I hope we are your magic bullet too. Try not to cringe when you look in the mirror. Being kind to yourself goes a very long way on this weight loss journey. I know it sounds hokey but it's true. I catch myself being really self-deprecating and I know it's counter productive so I try to find nice things to say to myself too. Anyway, it sounds like you are doing very well. Keep up the good work! Hawaiiadobo, I like your attitude. I have also noticed changes in my body. In fact I took my measurements this Saturday and in the last 4 weeks, I lost 1.5 inches on my waist and 2 inches off my hips! I also lost half an inch off each bicep and half an inch off each thigh. I am really excited about it! People are starting to notice now which is amazing! Keep up the awesome work, Everyone! |
Goal
Hello, how is your weight loss coming along. I am getting started today and hopefully, I am able to meet my goal by December. I know this will not be easy, but I am up for the challenge. The overweight thing is pretty much new to me and I am not feeling it at all. My goal is to lose 40lbs.
Hopefully, you are still going full force! |
Welcome! I just joined a few minutes ago and I am hoping for great results. I have never been overweight until this last past year and I am not feeling it at all. I am scared to get on the scale, but I believe I am between 203-210lbs. My goal is to lose 40lbs by the end of 2010. Just like you, I am like ugggghhh! I just cannot believe how my body has tranformed and i ignored everything. My back has been hurting me the last couple of days and it's either lack of water or weight gain or both. All I know I have to fix it now because I am not getting any younger. I cannot fit my clothes and my weight is in my upper body, so yea like my arms are the problem. Most people doesn't believe I weigh as much as I do because for some reason I am able to hide my weight with clothes on.
I hope the very best and success to you and everyone... so let's get this weight loss party started... |
Welcome to all the newcomers! Stick with it - changes happen.
Mtlgirl - Love it! I am waiting until after I finish the 30-day shred before measuring myself. I know I've at least lost inches in my waist - some of my pants are definitely looser. Did my weekly weigh in today and only a 0.8 lb in weight loss. However, this weekend was definitely a cheat weekend (I stayed at a beach house, so no workouts on Saturday-Monday, ate what I want on Sunday and Monday). It was nice to eat whatever I wanted for those two days. I felt a little guilty - but am channeling that guilt into a few extra workouts this week as well as cutting back on my meaty intake (most of the food I ate this weekend was BBQ meaty goodness). I figure, cheat days are necessary to keep from going crazy, as long as they're not too often. How about all of you? Did you survive the 4th of July weekend? |
I survived the 4th of July weekend, but I'm Canadian so it's not a huge accomplishment. Although I did have two brunches this weekend but I think I did okay. I couldn't do the 3- Day Shred this morning though because we are having a real heat wave and it was a gazillion degrees in my home this morning. Luckily I had an AC unit installed today so tomorrow I should be back on track. Tomorrow is my weigh in day so wish me luck everybody!
Hawaiiadobo, a loss is a loss so rejoice in your success. You made it! So tell me is the 30 Day Shred kicking your butt or what? I just started level 2 and thought I was going to die! Welcome Newbies! Keep up the great work, Everyone! :) |
I hard trouble this weekend keeping my head above water. I didnt really pay close attention to what I ate and with my boyfriends birthday being last week it was like a double whammy on me! I will weigh in in a few days hopefully I dont gain and if I do then i'll just kick myself a bit harder. I did do tons of swimming this weekend and my muscles are very sore! I feel muscles today that I never even knew existed! Its a new week now, Thursday I go in for a new job, Im ready to take it on with force!
Ohh and im reading a lot about this 30 day shred.. Would you all reccomend it? Is it pricey? I was looking into P90X but i just cant afford thatright now. |
:p
I lost 2 more pounds woohoo I'm down to 175 making my total weight loss 38 pounds! I'm so proud of myself!:D:D |
HippyLoveChild, I higly recommend the 30 Day Shred and it is not very pricey at all. I paid $14.99 for it and that is in Canada. I bet it's even cheaper in the U.S. You need to have a yoga mat and a set of light weights. I use 5 pound weights but I would recommend getting 4 pound weights because I find it pretty damn tough!
In 4 weeks of doing the workout 3 times per week, I lost 1.5 inches off my waist and 2 inches off my hips. My stomach looks much more defined and my arms are way tighter. It really does produce fast results but Jillian Michaels will kick your butt! Just be warned... you may bot be able to sit down the next day after the first workout! ;) |
I came back from being out of town a few days ago, and I was up 2 pounds. I also am at that time of the month, so I am trying not to allow the 2 pound gain to get me down. I keep telling myself that I always bloat and retain water during that time, and so I am not going to weigh myself again for my "official" weigh in until I finish my time. It is only fair to myself, since I do tend to retain water at that time. If I am still 2 pounds up when I am finished, then I can beat myself up for it. LOL In a week and half I will be going out of town again, but this time for only a few days. I really hate all this eating out. I can feel my sodium levels in my body are too high. I need to get some bananas so I can balance it with the potassium, but right now I have no money till the end of the week. :(
Sorry if my post is a bummer. You ladies are all doing great and it is such an encouragement. :) Just being able to be in a thread with all of you who are (mostly) around my same size, and working on similar weight loss goals is such an encouragement. It is encouraging to not be alone in this. |
mtlgirl - I have 3 days left of level 3 and I am done - I've been trying to do it everyday (missed only 4 days, but I make them up). Level 2 and 3 are killer. Just when you get used to one, BAM, Jillian kicks your butt again. BTW - you're on track to obliterate your mini goal. WOOHOO!
hippylovechild - 30 day shred is cheap (I think Walmart has it for 10 bucks or so). And it's about 30 minutes including warmup and after stretching. It works for me because I don't have to go to the gym, it has minimal needs (weights and a mat) and it's short enough that I can't make excuses. If I have time for half an hour of web surfing or TV, then I should have 30 minutes to work out. I was skeptical at first, but I've been seeing results (with a better diet too of course). samisweetpea - congrats! raindropsfalling - I weigh myself daily (and sometimes more than once a day), so don't worry too much about the 2 lbs (as long as you're keeping with your diet and excercise. I've fluctuated as much as 4-5 pounds in a day. |
Hi. My goal is around 50 and I know how you feel. I have started looking at measurements and only weighing in once a month with my trainer. Sometimes the scale is not my friend:)
|
Hey there.
I was so sad! I did absolutely aweful yesterday. Well I started out great, but then once I went to work it all went down the drain. I had fried chicken and an ice cream shake... No bueno. I'm hoping I can make up for that disaster today :) and thanks for the advice mtlgirl, I will look into the video |
Down a total of 7 lbs since I started June 26
Ok, I can't believe it. I am down 7 lbs since I started June 26. Whoohoo!!!! I have made some poor eatting choices that I take responsibility for but also changed the calories up for the next time I ate to compensate. Also, increased my power walking from 3 miles a week to 5.2 miles a week.
Ok, I am off to post in my food journal. Keep up moving forward. We can do this ladies!!!! It is motivating for me to read your posts so thank you so much for sharing. I had hoped to be on before this to share. I will work on that. Hugs, Sweet Sue:) |
ok I know I just posted yesterday but I weighed myself again today and I lost another pound I'm now down to 174, I'm no longer considered obese yay!! Everyone else keep up the good work ladies, we can do this!:D:D
|
Hawaiiadobo, thank you SO MUCH for the encouragement! It means a lot... I was feeling really guilty just now because I was not able to do my 30 Day Shred this morning due to the insane heat wave we are having! I'm going to wake up even earlier tomorrow and hopefully get it done before the temperatures skyrocket! I am so impressed that you do it every day!! I have been alternating between 30DS and the Couch to 5k program. I love both!
Michellebelle, don't beat youself up over a bad day, the whole point of this lifestyle change is that when you overeat one day, you get back on track the very next day or as soon as you can. It's not about the mistakes you make because we are all going to make them, it's about the way you correct them after the fact. Just do your best and know that you have the support of many here on the forum. We are all in the same boat! Sweetsu, congrats on our 7lb sweight loss! Samisweetpea, congratulations on being considered overweight!!! ;) |

In my journal I just write that sentence over and over and over. Its true. Hopefully things will get easier. We are not only getting healthier, but we are also taking control of our lives. We should be proud of ever pound we lose, every good food choice we make, and every "little bit more" we push in our workouts.
Congratulations ladies, we are winning this battle :D:D I will be so excited to get under 200lbs. I am just keeping at it everyday. And what you said is sooooooooooooooo true. "We should be proud of every pound we lose, every good food choice we make, and every "little bit more" we push in our workouts." So true. And darn it, I am proud of me. To all the other ladies. Hello and keep up the good work. We are inching our way to our goal. Hugs to you all, I appreciate all of your support, Sue |

hello--yes, you are right. It is a long journey but with each pound lost, one less back ache, looser fitting clothers those 1,000 miles soon become just a few blocks to go. That is the prize I am focusing on. Nice to meet you. We can do this, Hugs, Sweet Sue |
Wow, that's really inspiring
I have to lose 150 and I'm just getting started. I've lost a lot of weight before in my life and kept it off for at least a couple of years but I gained it all back and then some due to alcohol. I didn't realize that a liter of wine is almost 1000 calories and if you eat a lot to minimize the effects of it as I do, you end up way over your daily limit in no time at all. Also, when I was younger, I'd end up getting a whole lot of unwanted sexual attention when I lost weight. I was not the type who found it flattering and it caused me to be extremely ambivalent. Hopefully now that I'm 56, it'll be less of an issue. I really don't think fat is as bad for you as they say it is but at 302 pounds, I'm really getting up there. It's hard for me to get around on foot so exercise probably won't be my main goal. I want to learn to eat just enough so that I'm not hungry but I still lose at least one pound per month. I'm hoping that if I keep better track of my eating, it will be easier for me. Good luck to everyone!:p

I have 150 pounds to lose too
Gosh this sounds so daunting but i have to. Gonna take it one week at a time and see how i go. Decided to do the calorie shifting method and lost 2 pound in 2 days which is exciting specially as i am on steroids for a medical reason and it usually doesnt come off at all very easily. Even so sticking to a diet for me is not easy. But i am going to give this is a shot. Good luck on your journey too x x x

70 pounds and counting
DAY One. New beginning. Have gain and lost so many times. Want THIS time to be different. Appreciate the good energy and postive support of these posts. Each day is a new day, a new opportunity. One step at a time. Enjoy your day!

Anyone up for a FitDay Challenge?
Would folks be interested in participating in a group weight loss challenge? Say, 25 pounds by November 1? Could be a terrific way to support and inspire.
Day Two and counting! |
nycarts58 - I like the idea of a challenge. I personally like to set small mini goals at a time - so maybe we can do something a little shorter to start off with - say a 4-week challenge? And everyone can make up their own personal goals (since we are all different).
My personal goal for the next 4 weeks are: 1 - Drop 8 pounds 2 - Drop a dress size (My size 18s are loose, but I'm still too big for 16s |
Hi, I'm trying to lose 50 lbs. Started on June 16 and I'm giving myself until March - my birthday. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks so I'll do my what I call my weekly personal "official" weigh-in. But I do weigh myself everyday because I learned that weight fluctuates and the daily weigh-in helps me not to be too obsessed if the weekly weigh-in isn't what I think it should be. So far I've "lost" 4.4 lbs. —"unofficially" :-). Also have the six-week date marked on my calendar. That's when I'll also measure to see if anything has changed yet. Doing well with eating. But still need to get into a real exercise routine. Thanks for the group check-in offer. I think this is helpful. Congrats to everyone still hanging in there for the long haul.

I lost 3 more pounds yay!! I'm now down to 171 woohoo, that makes my total weight loss 42 pounds. I'm so happy!!!:D |
samisweetpea, that's AMAZING! You go! I did my weigh in today and another 2.8 pounds was lost. Hooray!!! Much better than last week with the onslaught of 4th of July BBQs. That brings me to double digit weight loss!!!
On a side note, I finished the 30-day shred. Measurement changes to follow. :D |
You ladies make me envious. :o
I still haven't dropped below 200. :( That means I now only have half a month to reach my goal for this month, and I still have 2 more out of town trips also. I have some high stress things going on this month, but I don't want to make excuses. My eating has not been bad, but my exercise has been nil lately. |
Hey ladies! Awesome job to Sweetpea and Hawaii on your losses!
Raindrops, keep working at it, we all get stuck every now and then. I think it a good time for a workout when you're feeling stressed. My 30 day shred came today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats literally how excited I am!!! Im having trouble having any moves in my weight, i'm hovering right around 228 give or take a few. My clothes are fitting looser though,so i'm happy about that. I'm getting close to having my period so i'm thinking that might have something to do with it. I'm starting the DVD Monday morning, but I think I might just need a sneak peak tomorrow morning. |
This week has so far been a wash exercise wise - a friend's wedding two days ago (for which I was the day-of-coordinator) and camp with a youth group I volunteer with this weekend means my eating hasn't been so great either.
However, Monday is the start of a new workout schedule. I'm going to try Jillian Michaels' 30-day Slimdown - it's on excercisetv.com if you're interested. It uses her 30-day shred, boost metabolism and trouble zones DVDs - 6 days on, 1 day off. I had such a good experience with the 30 day shred, that I figure - why not keep going. I have a feeling my Tuesday weigh in will be an upward change (doh!), but I know exactly why and I know that it's only temporary! |
I've got 50 to go too!
I'm in with you all!
|
Hey there guys. Random note of encouragement:
I think today is a great day for success. We should be proud of our accomplishments! Don't give up on your dreams. Believe in your hope for a slimmer you, a healthier you. Know that your hard work will pay off, and even better than that, you have a whole community of people here going through the same struggles that are willing to share with you. Be grateful that we have this support group. WE CAN DO IT! |
Thanks Michelle! I needed to hear that today. :)
