7 day motivational starting 12/26; everybody ready?

My goals:
1) healthier food
2) more water (64 oz a reasonable goal)
3) meditate
4) write
5) exercise at gym or at home at least 3x this week
6) don't be so hard on myself (and others)

BTW I realize I made a boo boo in the title of the other thread saying it will go to 12/26. Today starts a new one!

MunaAmin 12-26-2010 03:07 AM

Here I am, all ready. I think i hit a plateau  scales didnt move at all last week. I am inspired by some of you here, so i'm creating a new goal - drinking more water.

1)eat less than 2000kcal (preferably under 1900)
2) burn at least 2400kcal
3) alternate top fit/bottom fit on DVD for the whole week
4) bike 10km every 2nd day
5) do arts and crafts with kids
6) drink at least 2L of water daily, that's 4 blue glasses
7) no nuts this week, starting today

canary52 12-26-2010 03:22 AM

MunAmin, I'm glad you're here!

I know,a plateau is so discouraging but at least the scale didn't go up!

I think nuts are healthy in small amounts but it is so hard to eat just a handful, isn't it?

cjohnson728 12-26-2010 05:02 AM

Thanks, canary...I really need a thread to get back on track! I've had my three days of fun (read: stuffing my face) and now it's time to shape up.

1. Drink the water.
2. Exercise.
3. Balance the pie chart.
4. 5 servings of fruits and veggies.
5. Limit the cookies and put them in the food log.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that you did better than I did with the food choices ;).

canary52 12-26-2010 05:05 AM

I love your entry for your current weight: lalala,I can't hear you! LMAO!!!!

yeah last night was a travesty for which I am paying dearly in the form of penitent (and healing) Saltines and dry toast.

nottango 12-26-2010 06:42 AM

Back on the wagon. Ate too much, avoiding the scale today. I'll weigh tomorrow to assess the damage.

1. Limit cal's to 1500
2. 72 oz water daily
3. Daily Wiifit Plus - new Xmas toy!
4. 5 frts/veg's per day
5. Multivitamin daily

Start my new job tomorrow, so it'll be a challenging week.

cjohnson728 12-26-2010 07:38 AM

Good luck on your new job, nottango. I am sure it will be challenging but you will thrive on it! You will really enjoy your Wii Fit,too.

Yep, I avoid the scale for 4-5 days after I fall off the wagon. By then the water and other superfluous stuff is gone and I know I'm dealing with honest gain. Also, the number doesn't freak me out as much and I know I've already taken steps to get back on the road to recovery.

Feel better soon, Hope!

canary52 12-26-2010 07:53 AM

Good luck with the new job Nottango!! Knock em dead!!!!

Thanks for the good wishes Cassie! Maybe I should avoid the scale too (if only I could...)

Good luck on your new job. I start mine on Tuesday. I am very worried about my lunch and snacks this week!

Do you like your WiiFit? We have one but we let someone borrow it and just got it back yesterday because my kids got me The Biggest Loser game. I used it last night and my first work out was Yoga which I didnt think I liked. I dont seem to have the patience for stuff that slow. But I will tell you my abs are hurting this evening!!!

gmantych 12-26-2010 11:44 AM

My goals starting Monday are:

1. 128 oz of water
2. 1500 or less calories
3. 45 minutes of exercise daily
4. No sweets! Have to get these cravings under control.

rainbow24 12-26-2010 12:59 PM

I guess I will jump right in.
  1. 2 L water minimum daily
  2. switch over to balanced breakfasts by the end of the week (include vegetables and protein)
  3. begin working on ball routine to strengthen core muscles

Annette

Feeling much better this morning after eating well yesterday. Already jogged and completed Wii Fit. I haven't spent much time with it so far because I'm competing with my 6- and 8-yr old's - but so far it's quite fun. Off to the new job - thanks for all the well wishes!

gmantych 12-27-2010 01:46 AM

Well I didnt make my most important goal last week. I gained 1.2lbs
I am going to buckle down and get that off this week!! I feel really blah. My house is a wreck because I have no energy to get off the couch. But I am going to suck it up today and get it all done!! Eating all that junk is not worth how I feel. It may taste yummy at the moment but I am paying for it!

I hope everyone has a great week!

canary52 12-27-2010 04:24 AM

Report card

My goals:
1) healthier food: had to eat mellower (1564 cal)
2) more water (64 oz a reasonable goal) 54

6) don't be so hard on myself (and others): did better, tried to relax
7) trope: 14 minutes

Welcome Annette! Glenda, Glad you jumped in!
I feel your pain! It's tough when we let ourslevses go, much as it would seem to be the ontrary. But sometimes we need that. And I I figure every day is a new startm right?
Nottango, please let us know how the job goes. I'd like to hear how it is.

MunaAmin 12-27-2010 05:19 AM

I have a little problem here. Can your weigh go up, if it usually does go up before your period, even though you take medication which stops the actual period? I'd like to know if that 3lb can be water :(

tryinghard2lose 12-27-2010 05:55 AM

okay here goes

My goals for the week:

Daily:

Calories: 1500>
Water: 70 ounces
Sugars: 30>

NO FAST FOOD
Forgive myself for the past two months of wild, off the wall eating!
Have a plan for next week.

Hunny24 12-27-2010 12:33 PM

Hey guys...haven't been on here in a while. Got a really bad chest congestion and coudln't work out for almost a month. Needless to say during that time, the healthy eating went down the tubes. But I am back at it...ate healthy today and finally went to the gym for the first time in over a month. Sucked but at least I ran a few miles on the treadmill.

Goals for this week:

1) Go to the gym 4 times this week and do my best - No 6 mile runs for me yet
2) Keep calories under 1300 - Have to get rid of all the sugar and crap from my system
3) Try to do carbs only at breakfast time, at least not at dinner
4) No sugar of any kind!

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas! Glad to be back!

Ann

Yes you can gain that extra weight prior to when your period would normally start. I had a hysterectomy last October. They did leave my ovaries so I wouldn't have to take horomone replacements. So each month my weight goes up at the same time each month, even though I dont actually have a period.

Asianlady 12-27-2010 01:13 PM

Hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas and the new year is coming real soon.

Nottango, hope you are having fun with the new job :)

Like all of you, I have been avoiding the scale since christmas eve. Shall do a weigh in on the usual Thursday.

Goal for the week:
1) Drink 70oz of water daily, avoid all sodas and other sweetened drinks.
2) Do weights at home everyday 3 x 4 sets.
3) Continue with stair climbing everyday.
4) Have breakfast, lunch and dinner not totaling more than 1200 calories.
5) Catch more sleep! 7 hours preferably. Helps to prevent me from munching at night.

Work is gonna get crazy till next week, not to mention the only day off I have is the New Year Day :(

cjohnson728 12-27-2010 04:04 PM

Hmm. Obviously I was not ready for this 7-day cycle; haven't met any of my goals the past couple days. Sheepishly, I will try to do better tomorrow! I have been in this place before, after vacations and Thanksgiving, so I know I can do it, but getting into the mindset is hard this time :(.

Thank you so much for your answer :) i'm sorry to hear that you had to have a hysterectomy. I'm actually taking progesterone-only pill, which is a form of birth control. I'm so scared that I'm pregnant again, DH and I are an extremely fertile couple (God forbid, this would be baby #4) each time I lost some weight I became pregnant :) I'm buying a test today, i need to see the little minus on it, just to have peace of mind.

tryinghard2lose, you are off to a good start, cutting out fast food will save you hundreds of calories :)

hunny24, welcome back ;)

cjohnson728, I' not sure where i read it, but it goes like this: two steps forward and one step back will still get you there

MollySue2 12-27-2010 08:46 PM

Thanks, canary...I also need some motivation to get back on track!
My goals for this week are:

1. Drink at least two liters of water every day
2. Go swimming once a week
3. Go running at least twice this week
4. Stop eating sweets, ice cream and cookies :o
5. Clean up the house
6. Paint the kitchen
7. Apply for that wonderful job I spotted on the internet

Okay, the new job was actually very nice. I met a lot of very nice people, and found out I get a free lunch every day! It's a nursing home, and the food was good - had a nice salad with pineapple. Realized I need to bring my own water to stay hydrated, though as I got behind yesterday. I did well eating-wise until after dinner - those darn Christmas cookies called, and I answered by eating ~14 eek!. Love the Wii fit so far. Ran outside (Brrr!) for ~ 20 minutes (with my dog, Tango) then ran in place inside for 20 minutes today.

I am glad you enjoyed your first day. Its funny that you are working in a nursing home because I start my new job today which is also at a nursing home. I have worked in Long Term Care for the last ten years and I absolutely love it!! I am a Business Office Manager, what field are you in? I have never worked in a nursing home that gave us free lunches though. What a nice perk! I have always been able to buy the lunch for $2-3.00 which I think is a fair price and its usually pretty healthy.

Welcome everyone. Hunny, Cassie, good to see you post again. Nottango I am so glad to hear about your job; Glenda I hope yours goes equally well. MunaAmin I'm glad someone could help answer your question. I am myself in mental pause oops I mean menopause but the other one (mental pause) applies too.

nottango 12-28-2010 10:50 AM

I'm in what they call "peri" menopause - which means it may be 3 weeks before my next period...and it may be 6...and I may have really bad PMS for DAYS ....or I may have no symptoms. Being a woman is so complex!
Glenda, it's a small world! I work in the dietary dept., which is why I get free food. I've worked in hospitals, and always had to pay in the past.
Hope - no, can't count vodka!!!
Molly Sue - apply for that job!!!
Ann - welcome back...was wondering what happened to you! Make sure you're eating enough carb's, or you wont recover well from workouts!
Cassie, I always like reading your posts!

2. Cut down on Sweets
3. Eat healthier lunches
4. Try to get some sort of exercise each day

farahb7 12-28-2010 02:28 PM

it's good to see it's not just me, falling off the wagon! sorry ladies, but if i was the only one, that would have been much tougher to deal with!now, with the motivations and help from this group i can pull myself back together as well, i hope!
i still have to wait for the christmas cookies and treats to disappear first before making it a goal not to touch sweets and deal with my cravings, but last 2 nights i have actually done some exercising which is good, even though not enough. been eating so bad even my hubby is telling me off???!!!??
but i'll get over this period and get back on track again, we all do!
a question or concern though: for the last week i couldn't access the fourms, could log in my food and exercise, but not the fourms wonder what the cause might have been?

MunaAmin 12-28-2010 05:43 PM

1)eat less than 2000kcal (preferably under 1900) gives me 1819 but it's morning so it's innacurate
2)burn at least 2400kcal 2387 but see note above
3) alternate top fit/bottom fit on DVD for the whole week didn't do the bottom fit yet but did top fit on 3 days
4) bike 10km every 2nd day 2days of 16 and 2 days of 6 :D
5) do arts and crafts with kids well now i have materials
6) drink at least 2L of water daily, that's 4 blue glasses no
7) no nuts this week, starting today no, but at least i didn't eat the whole pack

the scales moved at last :) so i treated myself to some new dumbbells (set of 3 weights at 1.5lb, 3lb and 5lb) and i also bought a kitchen scale, finally, i can tell how much i'm eating now, gram-exact. But since we were out yesterday, we also ate out  1047kcal and 46g of fat in one meal. Yikes. I found nutritional info on the fast food chain's website. I know fast food is calorific, but i didnt know that it's this bad, i only had 320kcal sandwich, onion rings and shared cheese bites with DH, and look. Well, back on track today :D

3. 45 minutes of exercise daily-Yes, No 30
4. No sweets! Have to get these cravings under control.-NO, Yes

I did well on my calories yesterday and no sweets!! Water is still a problem. I need to bring all my water to work now. Previous job had a water cooler in the office. I didnt see one yesterday so I only had about 40 oz. I am going to run by the store this morning and buy some bottled water to keep in my office. I definately have to make some adjustments because I dont have a frig close by either. After this week I am going to see if I can have bring a small frig to keep in my office.

I dont have computer access at work yet so the only time I can check in now is at home and I am sure all you ladies with small kids know how little that can be. I will do my best to check in at least daily though!

nottango 12-28-2010 11:25 PM

Felt much better throughout the day, because I drank water throughout the day (for some reason, the woman training me didn't have any beverage all day on Monday - even at lunch time!) I gave the rest of the Xmas cookies and fudge to the babysitter to get them out of the house. Bought myself a new water bottle to keep next to me at work. Also, discovered I can access Fitday from work, so will be able to keep track without relying on my memory. Life is good.

cjohnson728 12-29-2010 02:11 AM

Catching up...hopefully one day back on track will result in more days back on track! Nottango, you are smart to get rid of the cookies and candy. I think my guys would howl if I gave our stuff away, but I'm considering asking them to hide it.

Glad the new jobs are good so far, nottango and Glenda.

Farah, I had trouble intermittently last week, too, getting the threads to open. I just waited and tried later and eventually it worked. Dunno what was going on.

Mental pause cracked me up. I don't think I'm quite there yet, but I've made four different things this holiday in which I have forgotten an ingredient or two. I'm guessing stress or overloaded brain, but mental pause is the best term I've heard!

1. Drink the water. No No Yes
2. Exercise. No No Yes
3. Balance the pie chart. No No Yes
4. 5 servings of fruits and veggies. No No Yes
5. Limit the cookies and put them in the food log. Haha No No Yes - kept away from them all day!

nottango 12-29-2010 03:08 PM

He Shermaine - you're doing great! I miss the days when the weight came off easier. I think I'm twice your age, so that has something to do with it, and the closer to your goal, the more stubborn the fat is!

My Wednesday:
