Eastern medicine and Philosophy

Lizzy, I've said this before and I'll say it again, I think we might be twins, born under the same star or some such. I could have written the above, only with a slightly different profession and a different university. Have you tried the Methodist church? I'm not, but I've always enjoyed the local Methodist service.
As to the original poster, I quite like yoga, and would love to use meditation, but um, the children make that almost impossible most days.

Welcome Lizzycritter,(I love that)
Anyway, I just love the fact that I am learning so many significant things just by throwing a thought out and amazing women respond!! It's too bad we're all so spread out. What a happy hour group we could have!!
So, I'm really struggling finding and sometimes just REMEMBERING to set aside time for meditation. plus, when I do get started, my dog decides he wants to be a lap dog. He is, so far, an 80 lb White German Shepard. 18months old so still very much a puppy! I found if I can wait him out he'll eventually settle down and fall asleep. I guess I have to shedule the time the same as I schedule my exercise time.
I think, as with all things, I'll get better at it with time.
This really is an amazing journey and it's so great to chat with like minded gals. Thankyou!!!

I take a few minutes right before bed when the house is all quiet and the hubs is off to work, maybe 20 or so and just lay down on the couch enjoying the silence. Often I fall asleep and don't make it into bed until 3 am or so, but if I try to do this in bed for some reason my brain spirals out of control and I don't settle down at all. Mental block I'm sure, but bed is for sleeping, and the longer it takes to fall asleep the less likely I will. On the couch I'm not trying to sleep so sleep comes easier.

Finding alone time is much easier now that my hubby is home. He can occupie the dog and I can shut the door without him freaking out. I found a really neat little stool at TJMaxx the other day. Just high enough to sit with legs crossed an keep back straight. About 5 inches off the ground. Works better for me than a cushion.
And YAY!! Finally broke through to 129 this morning. Now if I can just keep it there!
Happy day all!
