Compliments
We will all be getting them so let me hear some of yours? Today a friend said she was not sure whether it was the tan or a new hair style but I looked great. Earlier in the week one of my fellow lawyers (while waiting in court) said "you look fantastic". Needless to say they made me feel fantastic and motivated.

Congrats on your success! Well a couple weeks ago my dad said it looks like I'm losing weight and my husband said the same thing so that made me feel really good, but now I'm kicking it into full gear making sure I work out everyday or at least 5 days a week and no cheating on calorie counting! (keeping between 1200-1500). I cant wait to see the results and look forward to getting more compliments. - Renee

The compliments help. I think losing weight encourages us to take more care of our appearance as well. Mary

Congratulations, Mary and Renee! The compliments definitely help us all feel motivated to do more, do better, keep having those affirming words said to us.
I just posted this in another thread, so I'm just gonna copy and paste: Yesterday, when I was having a flat tyre replaced, I was standing at my car, waiting, and the guys in the workshop were taking little side-long glances at me. Of course, I pretended to be all cool and collected, like it's an everyday thing, but I haven't been given a side-long glance from a strange guy in so long. The guy who brought the tyre out to put in my boot kind of tripped over himself saying 'thankyou' to me (I don't know why he was thanking me). I told my partner last night and he just gave me a huge, knowing grin. Boosted ego? You betcha! |
when I get a compliment it's usually about how young I look. The most flattering comment was that I look like Greek God, but I think that she needed her eyes checked. Maybe she meant that I looked like a member of the geek squad, but I don't work for Best Buy.

One of the best things about losing weight and getting in shape is that I can leave the house in a dirty ratty ponytail, no make-up, cheese wiz and maybe a little marker smeared on my face, wearing bunny slippers and pajama pants and people still tell me that I look great. Just kidding, my slippers don't actually have bunnies on them . Another nice compliment I get frequently is that when I confess my real age (which I don't always do), I get that "jaw-dropped-open-shocked-into-complete-silence" look. Got one of those yesterday in fact.

I once had a young cashier tell me after looking at my drivers licence. "Wow, I hope I look like you when I get as old as you are!"
I took it as she meant it, but she then proceeded to apologise profusely noting that 50 really wasn't all that old. |
