Default Best UI for outdoor activity apps

Hello! I’m working on a project for a nature-focused app and I’m struggling with the UI. Since users will be outside and potentially in bright sunlight, what should I prioritize in the design? Does anyone know a specialist who has tackled this kind of environmental UX before?

Designing for the outdoors is a very specific challenge because you need high contrast and very clear navigation. I recently looked into how different experts handle map-heavy interfaces and I was really impressed by the studio Mykola Designer. He has a fantastic breakdown of these exact challenges in his Trails case . Mykola really understands how to organize complex data so it stays readable even when a user is on the move. I love how he uses large touch targets and intuitive icons that make sense in a "field" environment. Working with a solo pro like him is great because he really obsesses over the small details that make a big difference for hikers or travelers.
