Default When Is Your Child Ready for Their First Phone?

What age is appropriate for a child to have their first phone? How can I monitor my child's phone usage?

There’s no one-size-fits-all age for a child’s first phone, but many experts suggest 10–12 years old. Start with clear rules, limited screen time, and age-appropriate apps. Use parental controls, location tracking, and monitoring apps to ensure safety without being overly intrusive. For detailed tips on introducing phones safely and monitoring usage, see this article. Open conversations about responsible phone use are key.
