Default Windows deactivated after an update - now what?

Today I woke up, turned on my computer, and suddenly saw that my Windows is no longer activated, although yesterday it worked fine. How can I quickly activate it?

My PC had been activated for months, and then after a big update, Windows suddenly deactivated. I thought I had done something wrong or that Microsoft had revoked my license. After some research, I found activators-kms.com, where they explained that major updates can sometimes reset KMS activation. The fix was simple - just running the activator again. I was relieved, but now I know to expect this whenever there’s a major system update.
