Default Challenges of the ACFT: What Soldiers Are Saying

The Army Combat Fitness Test not only gauges strength and endurance but also mental toughness. Training for the ACFT requires a balance of strength-building exercises, cardiovascular conditioning, and proper recovery. Soldiers who ace the test are not just physically fit but demonstrate discipline and resilience.

Are you familiar with the ACFT? How do you think it compares to traditional fitness tests? If you’ve taken it, which event did you find most challenging? And for those preparing, what’s your go-to strategy for improving your weakest area?

Yes, I’m familiar with the ACFT. It’s more comprehensive than traditional fitness tests, emphasizing functional strength and overall readiness. The six events challenge different aspects of fitness in The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT), making it both demanding and effective. Many find the Sprint-Drag-Carry the toughest due to its intensity. To improve weaknesses, focus on targeted training like deadlifts for strength or intervals for cardio and prioritize recovery to enhance performance and reduce injury risk.
