I spent months obsessing over the exact shade of the table runners and whether the invitations should have gold foil or not. On the day? I didn’t even look at the tables, and I’m pretty sure half the invites ended up in the recycling bin within a week. If I could do it differently, I would have cut the "decor" budget by 40% and put that money toward a better open bar or a late-night snack truck.
The biggest thing I’d change, though, is the guest list. I felt so much pressure to invite "legacy" people—like my parents' old friends or cousins I haven't spoken to since I was ten. It made the room feel crowded with strangers. If I were doing it now, I’d keep it strictly to the people who actually know our story.
Oh, and pro tip: build in "buffer time." We were so rushed with photos that I didn't even get to taste the appetizers we spent $2,000 on. I’d definitely tell my past self to just breathe and prioritize the vibe over the Pinterest-perfect photos.
