Hi! I'm Suzi, from Dallas, TX. I started a low carb diet two and a half weeks ago, and have lost 11 lbs so far. My husband has lost 8. Together, we're trying this low-carb lifestyle and hope to stay with it, as we already feel better and have lost some of the weight we want to lose. I still have 69 lbs to get to where I want to be, but only 39 to where my doctor thinks I should be. I'm 5'7" and think I should weigh about 150 lbs. My doctor says 180. What do you think?

Welcome!

Maybe your doctor gives 180 as a more realistic goal but he will change his mind once you reach that. 150 puts you in the normal BMI range for your height.

Many people think they are helping (including doctors). But, if what they say discourages you in any way, kick it out of your mind. Negative statements can sound like positive ones, as your doctor did. Just go by how it makes you feel. . . encourged or discouraged.
