Yahoo I found an employee with management experience so training her should be pretty easy! To bad my assistant manager showed up today sick as a dog when it rains at work it pours.

No walking for me today but hopefully tomorrow after work. Thanks to you all for the kind words about my walking plans:)

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Goals:
Walk 10k: M=6.2k, T=2.2k, W=0, T=3.5k, F=0
Calories less than 1500: M=1421, T=1029, W=1062, T=1353, F=1067
Calorie deficit of 5000: M=-720, T=-988, W= -955, T=-665, F=-950
Squats twice: M=N, T=N, W=Y, T=N, F=N

Robingen 03-22-2013 11:54 PM

Well Cassie Darlene is definitely leading the pack as far as walking goes. I have 2 days left to get in 6.25k. It's kinda snowing here today again but the weather is supposed to be warm and sunny next week. It's supposed to be 2c here today and that should be it for the blasted freezing cold/boots/hat/mitts battles. And Cassie I would consider re-locating if it's warm where you are!

For those who have reported in nice job on your calories. We are doing pretty well without Mern, surprisingly, with her inspirational menus and posts.

I drank practically no water yesterday and I am not really sure why. Water today!!

lildebbieg 03-23-2013 01:27 AM

Weekends are usually my downfall...and this one, so far, is no different. Just have to keep trying and not let it completely derail me :)

1) Exercise on a daily basis - Yes, No
2) Log my food here on Fitday - Yes, Yes
3) Stay under 1200 calories - Yes, No (would have been under if I had stuck to my number 4 goal ;))
4) No wine - Yes, No
5) Stay off the scale! - Yes, Yes

Have a great weekend everyone!

jjrudd 03-23-2013 01:29 AM

Weighed this morning and I'm up half a pound. Not surprising since I had cupcake, and bigger meal for Mom's birthday.
Feeling sluggish today (PMS and maybe STRESS??) but hopefully I will feel more energized Mon to exercise more!

Mike, I'm intrigued with what you would eat to get up to 5,000 calories??

Jenn

01gt4.6 03-23-2013 03:35 AM

Jenn, I can answer that with one word... EVERYTHING. Usually donuts, a blasts, 1/2-3/4 of a rum came (at almost 500 calories a piece), you name it.

I'm down 2 more pounds. With 2 more weigh ins to complete my 2 weeks, I am down 13 pounds. Don't forget that Monday I will take and post my 2 week pics.

  • Calories < 1600 (F, S, S): 1845
  • Cholesterol < 200mg: 192, 10, 0, 63, 255
  • Vegetables > 3 / day: 3, 0, 0, 0, 7,

  • Protein > 50 g / day: 84, 27, 16, 51, 101
  • Plant! (Wed, Thurs): No (What was I thinking, there's no room left for new stuff.)
Jeszzie: Congrats on your 10 pound loss, and crossing that threshold.

Debbie: No wine on Fridays is hard. I finally had to face the fact that I'll consume more calories on the weekend. I had a lower cal value this week, and obviously didn't succeed with that.

Mke: It is the weekend, but I'm a lover, not a fighter.

Donna, no damn excuses, you are a warrior this weekend!!!!!

Hello, New here.

Hey everyone! I'm just starting my weight-loss journey, again. So far in the past week I've lost 8lb without any added exercise. So this Slow-Carb diet appears to be working pretty well so far. Today is cheat day so I get to eat a ton of junk, and it's not supposed to effect my results. (we'll see about that lol).

In this thread are we supposed to share our weekly goals & such?

Congrats on the 8 pounds this week! Awesome job. Yeah, we all just post up our goals for the week (or weekend) and just follow up. We try to keep the motivation going between us. Some of us struggle and need a little hug, while others (like myself) need a kick. That's what makes this group so great. We are all so different and at different stages.

carolynnq 03-23-2013 08:32 AM

ChiKitty - yes, this is it. Just want to mention that a new 7-day motivational thread starts each Monday.

chi.kitty 03-23-2013 09:27 AM

thanks! I plan to join in every week :)

Robingen 03-23-2013 01:08 PM

Welcome Debbie and ChiKitty.............nice to have you here. It helps a lot to have the accountability for posting.

Despite my good intentions I did not walk today. I just didn't have the heart to deal with the cold again today. It will get better, I know it. Meanwhile Darlene you are far in the lead this week. We were pretty intense at TKD again though so I don't feel too disappointed.

Went over my cal limit today, mostly just poor planning. I'm over 1500 and my goals was to keep between 1200 - 1400. It would have helped if I would have eaten more F and V.

At least today I got lots of water and green tea.

jjrudd 03-23-2013 01:48 PM

ChiKitty what is a slow carb diet? Congrats on the weight loss.
Welcome Debbie.

Sundays are usually bad for me trying to get my water in (too much coffee)--must try!
Jenn

Robingen 03-23-2013 02:09 PM

Hi Jenn......fellow weekend warrior. How many coffee do you have? I try to not drink more than 2 per day.

cjohnson728 03-23-2013 05:10 PM

Glad to see you over here, chi.kitty :). Welcome to the group; it's very awesome.

Robin, I'm in Georgia, so we are undoubtedly quite a bit warmer. Come on down!

Today was busy but I got a ton accomplished and had some enjoyable down time with the family as well. Although it certainly is a new thing for the boy to just decide to go out somewhere and then...go. My taxi days are over, and it's bittersweet.

Today was good food-wise, although I made chicken enchiladas for dinner (what I felt was a healthy version) and I didn't really measure stuff and consequently didn't do a recipe calculation. I was also pretty careful the rest of the day. Not exactly a weekend warrior, but also not throwing caution to the wind. Hope you all are having a great weekend!

The Slow-Carb diet is a diet popularized by the book The 4-hour Body by Tim Ferris. I think that it's worth trying out. He claims that you can lose up to 20lbs a month without any exercise and you don't have to count calories.
Basically eat low-carb + beans & a lot of protein 6 days of the week. You get a cheat day every week where you can eat as much as you like, of whatever you like. (and feel miserable after :p like i do right now) My cheat days are on Saturdays.

Not Allowed (except on cheat day) : Sugars (including fruit, agave syrup etc), Grains of any kind, high-carb seeds or nuts, Milk Products (except for 1/2cup of cottage cheese allowed a day), starchy or sweet vegetables like potato, beets or corn.

Allowed: Most beans/legumes, All meats, Eggs, Cottage Cheese(up to 1/2 cup a day), Most nuts in Moderation, nut-milks, Most vegetables.

You are supposed to eat a breakfast with 30g of protein within 1 hour of waking up, everyday (even on cheat day) & aim for 20g of protein at every other meal. (more if you want)

I'm going to be very strictly following the rules for now, but I plan to modify this a lot if i need to, and if I don't feel good & keep losing weight I will try something else.

P.S The beans have not made me have gas yet, and I find they do help to keep me satisfied throughout the day without snacking.

jjrudd 03-23-2013 11:36 PM

Robin on Sun I have 2 cups of coffee. During the week I have 1 medium size cup. While 2 isn't bad I find if I count up my water I'm probably only at 3 during the day.

Chikitty, I'm glad it's working for you. I don't like beans (texture).
I know yesterday while I thought I was eating ok, my carbs for lunch were a bit high.

Today is family dinner. I'm going to keep you all in my head to have the willpower to turn down cake!
Jenn

01gt4.6 03-24-2013 01:52 AM

Today I'm up to 185. I know what the issue is so I should be able to correct it, we'll see if tomorrow morning I can make it to 14 pounds.

No warmer today but walked anyway, at least I was able to wear sneakers. Did 5.45k, the dog and I. I had a goal of not doing all my walking on Sunday, and I didn't make 10k so my walking goals were not met.

Donna- way to call it like it is on the dinner haha. At least you are honest with yourself on your weekends.

Mike hopefully you can get the scale in the right place tomorrow.

amalthea1892 03-24-2013 07:13 AM

8 glasses water/day (tea counts): 6, Yes, Maybe - I did not count, Yes, Likely, Unlikely
Limit sweets: Mostly Yes, Yes, No, Yes, No
Exercise 3x this week (home or gym): Tue, Thu, Sunday
Limit processed foods: Yes, Yes, No, Not really, did okay, did okay
No BBQ: Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes
Dump the brownies (in the garbage!): DH ate them all first, I'll count it as a Yes
Vitamins!: Yes, Forgot, Forgot, Yes
Do not go to the St Patties day feast at work Monday… errr: Did not go to the feast, but I did grab a small slice of Irish soda bread on my way past the left-overs counter.

Last night was family dinner night - aka included cake and wine! Oh well... Tonight is a birthday party for one of DS classmates. At Chuck e Cheeses! Errr... Plan is to eat something before we leave and wait until we get home for another small snack.

cjohnson728 03-24-2013 07:52 AM

Hope it's not too hard to be good, Ama...Chuck E Cheese has the Grossest. Pizza. Ever.

Of course, it's probably been 10+ years since I was in one...

Enjoy dinners tonight, Donna and Jen!

Robin, good job on getting the walk in. Every little bit helps!

jjrudd 03-24-2013 09:22 AM

It was actually about 1pm before we ate. I did have cake--because my bro brought it in and they cut it at the table. We asked if it was alright. Everyone else had a piece. Not much salad. Blood glucose checked at 4:45 (approx 2hrs later) and it was 7.5. Not bad at all!! I did make sure to drink lots of water to offset the saltiness of smoked salmon.

My brother had eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast and sister-in-law had eggs benedict. I probably had the smallest order!! YAY ME!! Oh and I scrapped the icing off so i only ate the cake.

Jenn

Amen to that Cassie! I don't think I could choke a piece down if I tried! I am more concerned about the smell, and the kid mad house atmosphere. I am going armed with a fresh pack of baby wipes in my purse to clean all table surfaces, DS hands frequently, etc... DH and I are each feigning head colds to try and get out of going. I don't think either of us can pull it off though. If I have to suffer so does he!

Good job this week. Awesome job on exercising and on resisting the BBQ.

lildebbieg 03-24-2013 11:29 AM

So this weekend has been an entire bust :(. Normally I would want to hide (and I still sort of feel that way) but all the honesty and positive energy here makes me feel like I'm not so alone.

To help keep motivated, my husband and I may register for a race. I did a few 5 kms and one 10 kms a few years back and was in great shape at the time. Maybe it will have the same effect now.

Here's to a new week and new goals :)

01gt4.6 03-24-2013 11:33 AM

lildebbie, Great job on registering for the race. When is it? The weekends seem to be a struggle for almost all of us, I guess that's why it's important to have a good week. ;)

01gt4.6 03-24-2013 11:34 AM

Mern, where are you?

I think this is the first week I missed my workout goal. Cals averaged out a little high, but not too bad. Cholesterol averaged 192. Yeah! Protein is ok, but I'm low on vegetables. Now that it's spring, I should pick up more vegetables.

01gt4.6 03-25-2013 01:17 AM

I missed my 14 pound goal in 14 days. I lost 13.4. I'm still waaaaay off from where I once was but I'm going back in the right direction.
