Fellow coffee lover here — and honestly, this thread makes me feel so much better about my own morning ritual!
Katie416 nailed it: it really is the add-ins that make the difference, not the coffee itself. Black coffee is basically zero calories, so if you enjoy it that way, you're golden. For those of us who can't do black (guilty!), swapping heavy cream for a splash of unsweetened oat or almond milk gets you most of the creaminess with a fraction of the calories and sugar.
One thing that's helped me is also being more intentional about quality — like LisaAnnie and Shaggymane said, freshly ground beans genuinely taste so much better that you end up needing less milk and sweetener to enjoy the cup. Feels less like a compromise and more like an upgrade.
And to dancerinjade's original question — absolutely, you can keep the espresso machine and stay on track. A double shot latte with a good unsweetened milk is pretty easy to fit into any diet. Life's too short to give up good coffee!
