I find it hard to believe in this day and age that I cannot upgrade to Premium and get rid of those really annoying ads, just because I don't live in the US or Canada.

Is there anyway around this please??

Unfortunately, we aren't yet setup to accept international payments on Fitday.

The only current workaround would be to find some sort of payment method originating from US or Canada.
