I have a 6 day work out routine cycle. I think I am going to try lap swimming to substitute a work out I already have to mix up my exercising. Does anyone have any opinion on the benefits of swimming laps repetitively to lose weight?

Swimming is really good exercise in terms of toning your body all over - and it doesn't put stress on the joints. At my weight, I'd burn 475-700 calories an hour swimming. I like to do the breast stroke, because I can swim for a longer time doing it (and it's great for toning the inner thighs) that's at the lower end of the calorie burning. I usually do about 10 laps of breast stroke at an easy pace, then do a lap or two of fast crawl, and then back to breast stroke.
