Arc Trainer calorie counter (full of s word?)

At my gym and maybe yours there's a Cybex machine called the Arc Trainer. It has me burning 1,400 calories an hour and that seems a bit excessive. I don't give that number much weight when planning subsequent meals, but it seems a tad high.

Gym machines are often/almost always inaccurate since calorie burn is at best an estimate. However your machine is WAY off. 1,400 calories/hour is approximately what a runner would burn running a near world record half-marathon. (58:23-4:27/mile pace)

Yeah, it's a bit fishy. However, a world class marathon runner probably doesn't weigh 275 :D I know if I tried it my knees would blow out.

I know this post was from a while ago, but just thought I'd share I trick that I use when on cardio machines that count calories.
I've read a few different places that those machines can be up to 10% off, so I generally take the calories it says I burned and multiply them by .9.
This number tends to line up much more with what FitDay claims I'd burn in that time, and, since getting a HRM, I've noticed that it and FitDay agree quite a bit on calories burned, which to me, says that FitDay's pretty wonderfully accurate (and therefore that the multiplying-by-.9 method isn't half bad, either).
