is 3.5 miles in under 30 minures a goid time for a 5'9", 185 lb., 44 yrs. old man?

Middle of the pack, perhaps slightly better than average, but no
gold.

That's about an 8.5 minute mile. Better than most people even try to do these days. A lot of people get winded climbing the stairs.

I'm 43 and I can do 3 miles in about 25 minutes so we're not far apart.

The U.S. Marine Corps standard for 17-26 year olds is 3 miles in 28 minutes. That's minimum standard, though. Top score is 3 miles in 18 minutes. Probably not going to happen for me unless I go to mostly cardio vs. mostly weights and only 1 day of cardio.

I don't pay attention to the standard for my age group. Just because I'm an old fart doesn't mean I have to work out like one.
