Dehydration
How does dehydration effect someone who's trying to lose weight.
Yesterday I hike 10.6 miles in heat and ran out of water. I eventually found some and drank like a camel and then drank 40 ounces of diet soda when I was done. I seriously drank a gallon of water on this hike but I weighed this morning and I was 4.6 pounds lighter than yesterday. I have a feeling that before I found that spring I might have lost nearly 10 pounds of water.
Does anyone know how this is going to effect me? I figure on eating a lot of fruit and to keep drinking water today.

I'm no expert but I would say just to rehydrate with lots of water and fruits today. That diet soda probably wouldn't help you other than to quench your thirst. You will probably see your weight swing back up a bit to even you back out once your body is hydrated properly.

I wouldn't worry about that kind of short term dehydration. As long as you're drinking enough water on a regular basis you should be able to sustain a continuous fat loss. One day of water loss shouldn't hinder your effort over the long term.
