Totally feel you. Night time is hard for me as well. Just my two cents, but since you are running 8 miles a day it is possible that your body may need more calories to fuel that awesome work out.... What really helps me is to plan a "binge" save some calories, pack up some measured amounts of things you crave at night, and snack away! Maybe eating extra fruits and veggies during the day when you feel in control, and saving yourself those previous calories for your midnight snack!
make it something you look forward to rather than something you try to fight and dread.
