Decreased calories required as weight decreases

I was just noticing my calories burned per day before I add any exercise, have dropped about 300 with my 15 pound loss. How do you deal with the reduced amount needed?

I like my 1500 calories intake, however I still want to maintain a reasonable rate of loss. Mary

You could increase your exercise, but the sad fact is that the smaller you get, the fewer calories you burn. I am a short person to begin with, and sometimes I feel like it's just not fair. I maintain at the amount many people lose at. My best advice is to do some strength training so you can build muscle tissue, which burns more calories at rest, to a degree.

300 seems like a lot for a 15 pound loss, though. Have you tried plugging numbers into a different online calories burned calculator?

Thanks I'll double check my figures.

You should always recalculate your caloric needs after you have lost about 5 lbs, this is especially true for women < 25% BF and men < 15% BF.
