Quick update. I'm 6 days into the trip and while I can't get to the scales I always weigh on, I have stuck to the plan and I feel like I have lost more weight. The scales at the house I'm staying at had me 3 pounds lighter than my home scales when I weighed today, so I feel like I'm at least not back sliding.

Introduction
Hi
I'm new to the forums, but have been trying to track my food and exercise on and off for several years now. I'm Female,5'7", and weigh about 245#. I'm not sure how to do this properly... I've tried the starvation type diets, and they don't work for me. I can keep up with it for about a week, then I start feeling deprived, and end up shoving everything I can get my hands on into my mouth!
I've looked into programs like Nurtisystem (so I don't have to spend a ton of time thinking about what to eat, and how to make it) and Weight Watchers (So I can have face to face accountability, and share food and workout ideas with others), but both of these programs cost $, and I don't have any to spare at this time, so I thought I'd try this instead.
A friend told me about this site, and showed me how it works with her account, but when I signed up it didn't look anything like hers...How long ago did the site change format?, and would she have to start over if she wanted to upgrade to this one?
Hope everyone is having a good summer

Hi 4 a healthier me,
Welcome to the site. I'm certainly no expert. But I can tell you none of the "diets" that I have tried in the past have worked either. What is working for me is logging all my food on my fitday account and being accountable. I certainly have had days where I was sorta embarrassed to log the foods but it has really helped me with portion control and getting the right kinds of foods. I think one of the reasons why it's working is because it's not a "diet" in the sense that we know it. Rather, it has become a lifestyle change. I still eat foods that I love but a lot less. And I've been able to be pretty on target. I know I can go and do some sort of crazy diet and lose weight faster but I KNOW I will never keep it off. I have been averaging 1.5 - 2 lb lost a week and I feel great. I have also been working out 3x a week (hoping to get a 4th day in on a regular basis soon). All of the little changes that I have seen in my life have been keeping me motivated and accountable. Like I said, I do slip sometimes but I don't dwell on it and move on.
As far as the website change goes, I was using the first version of fitday and then one day tried 2.0 and didn't lose any of my data or my saved custom foods.
Hope all is well.

Back from trip and I definitely lost a little weight (3.6 pounds). Not as much as I was hoping, but after 11 days around all kinds of food temptation a loss of 0.1 pounds would have been a victory. I made a mini-goal of getting my BMI under 34. Next goal is to drop below 240 and I have 1.6 pounds to go in order to do that. Been a long time since I've seen 23X on the scale.

Not close to losing complete control, but I'm pretty reluctant to step on the scale after eating and drinking way too much for the last month.
Gotta face the music soon!

Michael

234.8 under 235 sounds nice
233.2 more than 2/3 of the way to 200 from 300.
229.8 the 220's is something I had pretty much resigned myself to never seeing again.
229.2 takes my BMI under 32.
It helps me to have these little mini goals as I'm always within 2 or 3 pounds of my next goal so I stay excited.

Been a while since I checked in here, glad to see you're all keeping up the good fight! I was ecstatic after my workout Monday afternoon to see the scale read 416 lbs. for a total loss of 142 lbs so far! The 300's are so close I can taste it. I have never been so motivated to succeed. I will be posting a couple before & "in-progress" pictures soon.
