microwave magic

Took my lunch to work the other day.

A lovely lean salmon fillet, (micro in bag for 2/1/2h mins, and a delicious bag of peeled and washed broccoli, carrots, baby sweetcorn, peas, and mange tout. Again, steamed for minute in the micro.

The people around me eating their chips and cheese and burgers all agreed it looked lovely and that they wished they had the time time to go to such lengths!

(the whole thing cost 2.49, prepared in minutes and as tasty as ffmmmmmmm)

When I go to my New Orleans office I cook all the time. People Laugh b/c we have a toaster over that I'll cook a steak in, and a microwave that I'll cook a sweet potato in. A couple weeks ago I cooked broccoli and cauliflower in the microwave and everyone was walking around thinking that someone farted. It was so funny. I made it up to them and the next week baked peach cobbler in the toaster over, now the beg me to cook the cobbler every time I go in.

It's funny b/c they always go to a restaurant or fast food joint and I run across the street to the grocery store to grab stuff to cook.

I can see it in the news "man burns down an 18 story building while trying to cook his lunch in the toaster over.":D

I found some single-serving microwaveable frozen edamame (soybeans) that I'm excited to try. My standard work lunch is a can of soup or lean cuisine or healthy choice microwave meal with a fruit and vegetable added. There's not much choice for eating out, and I can only take so much salad, especially when it's cold outside.
