Nyda; Welcome to the group. Good luck on finding a job!!!

Tori; I can almost see the twinkle in your eyes and the smile on your face from here. Seems your attitude is much improved with your WHN back.

Mike; Thanks for the clarification on the calorie goal.

Everyone else keep at it! If you didn't get the 'Brown Chicken Brown Cow' reference (like me) the link in Mikes previous message is to a Trace Atkins Music Video. Makes me wish I had a barn! :p

Wishful thinking goals
  • Lots of H2O: Y, Y
  • Avoid the left-over cheesecake as much as humanly possible: Y, Almost (DS fork fed me two bites and I couldn't say no to my sweet son)
  • Avoid processed foods as much as possible: Not bad, eh..., already blew it
  • Don’t freak out at/about work (insanely busy)…: Y, NO (antacids anyone?)
  • Try to get to the gym (lots of roadblocks this week during normal gym time): Planned for Wed
  • Lose the 1 lb I gained last week: ?, ?,

Nadi - Ohhh I would love to go to Germany, and try every one of those yummy breads - I can see why you have trouble! DH and I did not keep bread in the house much until DS started school, now we make him sandwiches for his lunch every day... no excuses though for me, I can avoid it - just gotta try harder :).

I watched the chicken/cow video... :p funny indeed!

Tori - Ditto Ron's comment - I can feel your smile all the way to CA! Live it up girl!

Big welcome to Nyda and dmartz!!! Great start with your goals!

I have lost the same 10 pounds over and over. This last month saw me breaking out of those 10 to go lower I am now at 258.5. I want to lose more weight by my birthday in december.

Goals this week

As for everyone else--if you haven't had a chance to check the Brown Chicken Brown Cow video, give yourself a few minutes to check it out. It's worth the time, for the laugh you'll get.

As far as my goals.....

2. Laugh until you cry (2 times)--1 down, 1 to go
3. Sleep in late (at least twice)--not so much yesterday because of the 3:30 breakfast, YES finally...took melatonin to accomplish it, but I got some really good sleep last night

Okay. Goals. Oh dear.

1) 45 - 60 minute exercise routine each day.
2) ...
3) I suppose I would like to vary my diet a bit more, so finding a new recipe each day, that I can at least shop for/prepare by next week would be good.

Really that's about it. The rest of life is carrying on as it carries on. :P

We are all doing pretty good this week! Today is the halfway mark, I don't know about you guys but I am going to push it to Sunday!

I swam laps yesterday which I haven't done in quite some time and I was a little surprised at my endurance! I didn't think I was going to do as well as I did, so I think I might throw that back in my routine. I got on the scale this morning and a number showed up that I hadn't seen in 19 years. So I don't mind saying there was a bit of a dance going on in the kitchen this morning!

Went home sick from work yesterday at noon. Stomach ache. Slept till 6:30 PM and got up and felt like I had been run over by a truck. But it was a short lived bug and I was able to eat a little supper and felt better by 9:30 when I went to bed again. It would be nice if being sick could help me at least reach my Mini-weight goal.

Wife wants me to go pick up new dining room chairs after work so the workout for tonight is also in jeopardy.

Frenchhen:
Congratulation on hitting the 19 year low!!!

Defi and JazzyJudi:
Welcome to the group! Hope to be reading about your successes soon!

Mike;
You need to get back on track (just like me). We have people looking at us as an example!

01gt4.6 10-18-2012 08:25 AM

Ron, I know. I'm always an example, just not usually a good one.:o

amalthea1892 10-18-2012 09:10 AM

Frenchhen - YAY!!! Congratulations on your success!

Ron - Ohhh the flu sucks! I just got my flu shot Tuesday and hope it does me some good this year. Glad it was short lived for you though... New dining room chairs, sweet! What a nice hubby you are!

Jenn - You're doing great this week, keep up the good work! I have tomorrow off work and my household goals look pretty much the same as yours do :). Think I'll turn on some Red Hot Chili Peppers and get my groove on to the laundry and dishes! It seems to help!

I did get to the gym this week - one day outta 7 ain't bad??? Yes it is... I plan to get out and walk in the evenings at least, and I have a few hand-weights at home that need to get dusted off and put to work. Yesterday I blew it food wise - I ate every single meal out! But I did make coffee at home before leaving for work, does that count for something home-made?

Went on a trip to the pumpkin patch with DS and his pre-school class today. We had a blast! Too bad it was 90 degrees outside. I thought fall was supposed to be cool?

Happy Thursday! :D Ama

Congrats frenchhen!!

No exercise for me today except going up and down stairs. TTOM so had a nap this afternoon. Food wasn't bad but I did find myself grazing mid afternoon and ate a handful of parmesan and garlic Triscuits. They taste like potato chips--so good.

Ama,
Wait, I'm confused... a Blast is ice cream with candy in it, that should have cooled you off in the 90* heat. :D

Awesome job so far. Keep pushing it with the push-ups you'll get it soon enough! Awesome job on all your workouts. Many people underestimate how much of a workout you can get in such a short period of time with a jump rope! I could walk for hours and be okay, after a few minutes of jumping rope I'm ready to throw in the towel!

Hadena 10-19-2012 05:00 AM

I came here a few months ago and lost a few lbs before having a few parties, not logging anything, then ending up worse than how I started! Started using the site again after that and have now decided to jump into the forums again. It's great seeing everyone else achieving their goals and should keep me motivated.

I'm still building up to full pushups, it's elevated ones for me now...on three dusty Stack'n'Store boxes! They do the job though, so not complaining. Hopefully we'll both get there soon! :D

Busy day! Kitchen is clean, counters, top of oven and floor all sparkling. One load of dishes.
Wrapped gift for niece's Christening. She will be 4 months old and Grandma and Auntie are excited to see her!!
Still need to pack but it shouldn't take long! My brother lives 2hrs away (taking bus) so we will be there a couple of days.

I will try to eat as well as I can. We are going out for dinner Sun night.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Ron, true dat!

Hey everyone, I haven't been MIA because I was off the wagon, I've been working on my shed ALL day. I didn't even go to work today. I am just know finishing up with the doors. Tomorrow I have to put on the hinges and latch and hang them. My ADD kicked in and I even started painting the shed. I went through a gallon and went back to Home Depot for more goodies. That was my second trip today.

My back is killing me but I will get it done!

So good to see you, Mary. A lot of us are just doing our best to muddle through these days; I feel you! Looking forward to seeing you!

Work and getting sick bumped me right off the wagon a couple days this week, but neither is an excuse. The days I was good, I was excellent...ate extremely clean and nothing I ate had more than two ingredients, unless it was homemade from things that were only one ingredient. But the days I didn't care were not good. Today has been good so far. I'm alternating my time between baking bread and working on reports today; errands are done and hopefully the weekend will be low key.

Mern 10-20-2012 09:37 AM

Hi, y'all. I'll be back Monday. Wishing everyone a great weekend.

amalthea1892 10-20-2012 11:43 AM

Mike - I have never had a "Blast." Sounds deliciously addictive - I better keep a safe distance from DQ! It must be "shed" season... DH and I have spent the last 3 weekends power-wahing old paint off of ours, nailing it back together, covering it in primer, then paint, and trim. Just finished the d%*@ thing this morning. No longer an eyesore which is great! Funny how maintaining such a little building drains so much cash out of the wallet at the Home Depot! I feel your pain! Good luck!

Ama

01gt4.6 10-20-2012 12:55 PM

Ama, yeah the shed was more work than I expected. I not only built/paint the doors, I replaced the hinges, replaced the trim on the shed (around and above the doors). I painted most o the shed while I was at it. I have some rotten wood on the side. I'm gonna lay down some fresh wood tomorrow and do more painting.

I still have to clean my car to get that goal done too. I hope I have enough hours in the day.

Here are some of the before and after pics.

01gt4.6 10-20-2012 01:07 PM

Remember a while back I had a goal to clean out the shed and not get attacked by the rats? As you can see it's still clean. :)

My GF tells me that we need to start doing some more projects around the house. I was quietly thinking "'we' ?" Haha. I told her not to put tile on the list for a while. I'm tiled out for now. Out of all my recent projects, none were as fun as putting the bike back together. :)

canary52 10-21-2012 02:47 AM

6 days late or 1 day early? I say one day early!!! It's me: I'm back. Back at 140 lbs and until Friday almost total slughood. That is, being a slug. Friday I took gentle yoga and said hmmmm this is something I think I can do, better than nothin'!!! While I have been a slug, Mike has been doing fabulous work on that barn. Hi Mike. Hi Mern. Hi Mary. Hi Cassie. Hi Almathea. Hi Tori. HI Ron (you don't know me but that's OK.) Sorry for not mentioning everyone, didn't get a chance to read the posts. Helloooooooo everyone!!!

Goals:
1) plan meals
2) 1600 cals max
3) stretch
4) yoga, walk, something, 2 x this week (starting slow)
5) write (I am now on a deadline)
6) drink more water
7) send out positive vibrations yeah :D

Hadena 10-21-2012 04:35 AM

Good day for me today. Fought the urge to eat a ton this afternoon after working outside until 1pm, and just had a nice plum and a flavoured water drink, so pretty pleased with that. Next week I will start setting some proper goals!

And that shed looks great, what a transformation!

Thanks Mike, Jumping rope is much harder as an adult (@ 53) then as a kid. I jump till I can't (a few minutes), then walk a few laps in a "circuit" through three rooms in my house, jump again, then walk in the opposite direction. Throw in a few burpees and a some 'almost' push ups for good measure. Twenty minutes of that and I'm exhausted.

When I try to crossing the ropes when jumping it really wipes me out. Haven't fallen on my face yet, thankfully. It's kinda like the difference between walking on a flat surface and walking up and down hills. Even though it's the same exercise, it's a whole different experience!

Nice shed.

& I know what you mean by tiled out, or should I say "we" know. I amped the start of my weight loss by carrying slate off the palettes we had delivered from India. Over 800 sq feet of smooth honed slate ~ 2 tons total. I laid out the pattern for my honey to set in place. Arms are in much better shape now than before, but I Still can't do those push ups. And the floor does look awesome! Even though, I do my jumping a carpeted room.

Mike - OMG that is a beautiful shed!!! Nice work! Now you need a cat to keep the rats under control . DH and I lived several years in a neighborhood with rat problems - we think it was because the neighbor had goats and they were always in the feed. Kitty did a nice job of helping out. Now we live in the foothills where there are owls, hawks, snakes, and coyotes constantly on the prowl... no rats (and we have to keep the cat locked-up because the tables have turned on her in a very bad way ).

Mern, Hope, and Mary - So glad ya'll are coming back! Mern, don't forget to bring your whip ;).
