Tori, thanks for the kudos! I think I missed it, but who's whatshisname?

cjohnson728 05-31-2012 01:33 PM

I missed it, too, I think, during the crazy weeks...just sending good vibes regarding whatshisname and hugs for the tears!

Good jawb this week, Joanna!

Jho82 05-31-2012 01:42 PM

Tori - omg its soooooo good - and sooooo bad at the same time!!! Highly recommended if your into the "romance" novels! I'm already getting pumped for books 2 and 3 and I'm not done the first one! I can't put it down!! It will consume you.....but you might want whatshisname home when you read it...just a warning! ;)

Check in # 2 - still on track - had a nice long bath tonight and I'm just about to finally sit down with hubby and with my tea to watch Rookie Blue!! No nap for Mz Makenna today makes for a loooooonnnnngggg day!

ToriD1012 05-31-2012 02:02 PM

Cassie & Joanna-Whatshisname is the blind date I went on a while back. Needless to say, it went well. His duty station was changed, and he went to Germany, now just waiting for him to come home for good. October can't get here soon enough. I swore I'd never date another military guy after DB, but WsHN is different. He's not a career man. Tears are cause I miss him, but I'll be okay. Luckily he's got a Mon-Fri job, so I get to talk to him daily (except for the occasional 24 hr duty). I really didn't expect to miss him so much, cause it's so soon. But I do, and it's thrown me for a loop (thus the "no panicking" goal). I think that should catch everybody up. :)

Jho-I'll definitely wait to get the book then :D

nobe 05-31-2012 04:13 PM

Wow, horrible day today. Hubby's birthday, and stressful dinner at my mom's, plus I'm getting the kiddo's cold. Oh well, back in the saddle tomorrow. Hopefully I don't get too sick.

3) 20% protein minimum - 23%, 22%, 18%, 16%
4) 64oz water minimum - 64oz+, 64oz+, no idea - not enough, 64oz+
5) calorie deficit 700+ - 729, 735, 1247, +421

Mern, enjoy your day! Happy Graduation!

Tori, thanks for catching me up. Enjoy the ride!

Jho, hope you had a good night, wink, wink...

Jho82 06-01-2012 01:23 AM

Health/Fitness/Lifestyle
1. Drink min 80oz of WATER! Y, Y, Y, Y
2. PM workout - interval training - 3 days/week(at least)!! N, Y:23min, Y:23min, no interval but full body workout with situps, pushups, calfraises, leg lifts and bicep curls!
3. Min 72 crunches/day! N, Y, Y, Y
4. 5 Pushups (straight leg)/ 10 pushups (elevated)! N, Y, Y, Y (noticed the 5 pushups getting easier - crazy!!)
5. Drink 1 tea/day! N, Y (cinnamon and spice before bed while enjoying a good book!), Y, Y
6. Check in min 2x/day! N, Y, Y, Y
7. Think POSITIVE! (stealing this from you Hope) N, Y, Y, ....Y/N
8. Focus more on my sex life! (I won't go into details ladies but I need to do this so its officially a goal!) Y, Y………y, Y

I'm hoping for 3rd interval tonight but looks like some MarioKart on the Wii might be happening at 930 with friends from Toronto! Crossing fingers for an early bedtime for the kids!!

I would like to take a few moments to get a little bit sappy:o... I know that I've been in and out of this forum for the past few weeks but seriously, I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for being here! I'm really starting to notice little things in my fitness life that hit my like a brick wall last night. I did 84 various crunches last night in the time span of 10 min..... I remember in March struggling for 10 crunches! WHHHAAAT! Its crazy! And like I said above I can feel my straight leg pushups getting easier to complete! This was just the push I needed for myself. I completely lose focus when I'm not logging in (should not be used as an excuse to fall off the wagon and will have to work this out for summer vacation!) Anyway, like I said, I'm finally starting to notice the progress that isn't particularly "weight" related and it feels really good so big hugs to everyone - we can do this together! THANK YOU!

Cassie - uuuummmm yes! ;) (seriously get the book!) I still laugh at your PCC!

Tori - You are such a romantic and I smile when you write about WsHN! You have until October to completely focus on yourself! Hit it hard girl!

Nobe - awe sweetheart.... I'm hoping the cold doesn't hit you too hard! Did your mom pull any silly stunts last night and did your Hubby at least enjoy his birthday? (I would also recommend the aforementioned book! Its working wonders for this gal!)

Mern, tell Quinn I am so sorry about her Mom and so happy for her for all the her DD's many accomplishments. Very impressive!!! I also hope the grad party goes off well with minimal stress and wear and tear on her.

As for you, Ms Mern, it's great you have such a good doc; doctors should spend the time needed. I know your numbers are gonna be great; keep doing what you're doing! And yeah there is nothing like fresh veggies from the garden. Nature's candy. Did I just write that? Ewwwww..

Tori, Doritos and Cheezits, now there are things you aint gonna find in nature. What is Shine?

Joho, I might try Zumba at my gym, if I get over the fear of looking as clutzy as I am and if I could keep up. Ya know, the Youtube ones are sounding better...I love your sex life goal. My joke is that DH gets excited at the sight of flannel....LOL. TMI!!! I think Mike dresses more sexy than I...what with the clamshell bra and pink thong and all... Is 50 Shades any good? I read bits on Amazon and the writing seemed kinda eh but then again maybe nobody reads it for the writing...

Cassie, It's my DD; I don't have a GD and yeah I'm gonna miss her like crazy even tho she drives me crazy (not a long trip admittedly.) Her major is creative writing/journalism, Lord help us, so we might very well see her back in 4 years!!! JK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

taubele 06-01-2012 03:05 AM

Hi everyone,

Sorry I didn't participate this week, but I've been logging some pretty insane hours at work and then sleeping (gotta love the work/sleep cycle) and I haven't really been near a computer except to check e-mails quickly. I've eaten terribly and I don't even want to look at a scale. I'm going to try to get back to my routine this weekend now that 15-hour days are FINALLY done (I had to bang out 14 surgeries this week) as a result of being short-handed.

I may or may not post weekend mini-goals later :D

Hugs to all!

~Terri

amalthea1892 06-01-2012 04:12 AM

I have not fallen off the wagon, really :). After losing a couple of long posts earlier this week (darn Apple computer has buttons in different places), and working seriously long days, I took a break from the posting. And I haven't done a single push-up or logged a thing!!! Bad Bad Girl!

I delivered a huge project to my client this week (2.5 yrs of work to get it done), and am leaving on vacation today for a long weekend at the ocean with my family, folks, sister and her family. The food will be high cal I am sure, but I plan to try to limit portion sizes and do a ton of hiking so make up for it. DH is going abalone diving for the first time, and always catches fish, but my brother-in-law will probably bread it and fry it all up, so I need to snag a portion before he gets that far! It will be fun watching DS play with his cousins.

Hope ya'll are having a great week! I plan to post goals again starting Tuesday when I get home. REALLY! The scale tells me it is time to get back to it in a hurry!

:D Ama

01gt4.6 06-01-2012 06:14 AM

Okay, I'm behind the 8 Ball on posting so let me try to get this updated

My Goals (from Tori)

1--gallon o' water yes, yes, no, no
2--1% challenge (starting 182.0)
3--2K deficit ???, -599, -138, -285
4--8 miles, gym 3 times 0(no), (0)yes, 0(no), (0)yes
5--all vitamins yes, yes, no, no
6--4 RAKs 1, 0, 0, 0
7--2 policies out of office, 1, 0, out of office

My GF just got back on HCG. After maintaining for well over a year I guess my bad habits have rubbed off on her and she's gained about 10 pounds back. She's going to do ~2 weeks and she's hoping to lose 20 pounds. So what does this mean? It means that I have to tighten up on my diet, which is good. Maybe I can actually get back down to 170... before Tori.

Mern 06-01-2012 06:58 AM

Got an unexpected half hour to spare today. HS sophomore GD was allowed to come home early today, so I didn't have to sit in the parking lot for half an hour before regular dismissal time in order to get a good parking space. :)

It's been a wonderful day so far. Every possible snafu on live-in GD's graduation day has been averted so far. (Wow, I'm so grateful to get that kind of break! LOL) Rained this morning but the temp is only 62 and it's supposed to clear up before the ceremony tonight.

We had a lovely breakfast out: Me, DH, live-in GD, her BF and his parents. I ate on-plan: cantaloupe, a delicious omelet with egg substitute, onion, green pepper, tomato and mushrooms, and decaf coffee. Lunch was just an ounce of almonds. I'll have a protein shake for a snack in a bit, and something on-plan for dinner.

Tori, thanks for your prayers and encouragement. :) Going to the zoo will add some miles of walking. Wishing you a very pleasant weekend and an end to your tears. Big hug to ya.

Joanna, nice report yesterday! Wishing you a relaxing weekend along with some productive studying.

Jho, congrats for being on track yesterday. You've had wonderful reports all week! Kudos on that! Ooh, I remember how hard it was when my wee ones didn't nap. Certainly does make for a long day! I hope you did get to enjoy that relaxing evening with your DH, tea, and Rookie Blue. I got teary-eyed reading about the progress you've made in fitness and your weight since March. That is absolutely wonderful. Funny you brought that up--I was telling my doc Wednesday that I credit my online weight loss support group (THIS group) with helping keep me on track because without you pals, here, I'd still weigh 246 lbs. and be kneeing myself in the belly walking up stairs and getting out of breath just from taking a shower and getting dressed. So I flip the THANK YOU right back to you and all the rest of our group.

Nobe, aw! I'm so darned sorry your day was horrible. I hope you feel better soon and have a wonderful relaxing weekend.

Cassie, wow! You've had really good reports this week. I didn't pledge PCC, but I noticed this morning mine wasn't clear. I've been doing well except on the water but it's been because of running around so much this week and I hate having to stop at a store or restaurant to use their restroom. I hope you get your other report from hell done. thanks for your well-wishes on "my" special day. Funny, even though GD just lives with us, but her Mom is still in charge of more important decisions, I almost feel as if it's a daughter instead of a granddaughter who is graduating. She is getting her first car this weekend and after her insurance is set up, I'll be free of driving her to and from work. YIPPEE!!! GD will be 18 in September and in view of her BF working day shift, her working afternoon shift, and her BF living only a mile from the restaurant where she works, I told her that I was OK with her visiting her BF after work with his parents permission, only if his parents are home, and as long as she is home by 11:30 this summer BUT that she needed to clear it with her Mom first. She did and my daughter told her she needs to be home by 11:00. That gave me a huge chuckle because when my daughter was a teenager we had many arguments over her accusation that I was too strict, and she's even more strict than I was. But she may also have set the earlier curfew out of respect for me and DH so we won't be having to wait up for GD to be sure she got home OK. :)

Well that's all the time I have for now. Got a couple errands to run. Will catch you all tomorrow.

Jho82 06-01-2012 10:14 AM

Geez Mike - what the heck have you been doing the last 2 days...... By the looks of it, NOTHING According to your report! Did you actually mean to write that she is doing 2 weeks and hoping to lose 20 lbs - that seems a little unhealthy to me but I'm not a professional. What is HCG?

Mern - so glad you are having a wonderful day! The omelet sounds amazing (now I'm drooling). I agree completely - it helps when I know that I have to check in with you guys! :D

Hope - def try out the zumba on youtube! And if you are feeling brave try it at your gym! Like I said, you can go at your own pace and stand at the back of the class like I do hehe! And don't give up after trying once - the routines seem crazy the first couple of times but it gets easier! Check to see if your gym offers different types of Zumba classes (My gym has a "Zumba Gold" which is a little lower impact than the regular). I really am enjoying the book - not sure if you would call it the best "writing" though - it was hard for me to get used to it being in the first-person but its def got a lot of romance ("romance";)) and I just get completely enthralled at times!

She's one day in and is two pounds down. She'll probably average 1 pound a day. One bottle is for 2 weeks but last time it was just over two weeks/bottle and she continued to lose for a short while after than. So it may take just over 2 weeks, probably 2 1/2 weeks. It's pretty controversial here so I won't get to much into it but there are some threads floating around. Last time it took her a month to lose just over 30#'s.

Another run of the mill day here today. Do any of you guys watch Doctor Who? I love it! I'm rewatching some of the David Tennant episodes - if you guys like sci-fi, I highly recommend it :)

Jhold up...You didn't actually think I was going to let this slide for too long did you? Well what have I been doing???
Today I wrote my 2nd policy for the week, saving her just over $1600 for the year.

I did a RAK today... I ordered a LARGE King Cake for a friend in Cali and had it overnight shipped to him, he should get it tomorrow. $65 bucks for a King Cake, really? That must work out to $25 for the King Cake and $40 for shipping!

I paid off Uncle Sam and paid all my bills.

Ran the youngest of the chirrens to the movies

Picked up Pizza Hut for the middle of the chirrens (and me)

Yesterday, my brother needed the office to himself, so I was just a lazy ass then. But hey, Monday was a holiday, I took off yesterday. I probably only worked 20 hours this week b/c I just wasn't feeling it and still got in my two policies.

Oh and now I'm getting suited up with one of the bad ass jackets that I got a smoking deal on and about to go for a nice ride.

Don't hate the playa'... hate the game. :D

Thanks everyone. My cold hasn't really shown up yet. I have a sore throat and my head feels like cotton candy and I keep getting hot and cold, but that's it. Hopefully it stays that way. Kiddo's nose is still Niagara Falls and I don't want to be sick like that while taking care of him. Fingers crossed.

Jho, Zumba will have to wait but maybe reading 5 Shades is something I can do flat on my back...
My back pain is invading my body and life like Godzilla on a small Japanese city. Will read other posts and respond later.

Jumping in midweek!

I've started losing again and want to keep it up. So my goals are to lose a pound this week, drink enough water to actually do in my thirst, exercise as many days as possible and enjoy my veggies. Today's goals are pared down due to a skanky headache: do as much housework as I can without aggravating said headache and see if I can handle a walk by evening.

quinnesec 06-02-2012 08:07 AM

I'm here!!

Thanks to all who sent PM's, well-wishes, prayers, and good vibes! It's been really crazy, but I'm happy to report that all is currently under control. :D I am so very lucky to have stumbled onto this website a few years ago... the friends that I made here are so kind, compassionate and supportive. You are all amazing and I'm really blessed to know all of you! I can't even begin to tell you how much it meant to me to be going through all of my email to "see" a happy, familiar message from one of you. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Tonight, I am going to "let my hair down" and attend a birthday party for a wonderful friend. I feel a little guilty, but maybe I can get a "prescription" from Cassie for a stress-releaser of the beverage form for the evening... lol. Husband will have to be the designated driver for the night. ;)

Diet-wise, I've been fully back on track for about a week and my weight has come back down to my usual 5-6 lbs. that I always struggle with. I'll use the party in a few weeks as my motivation to keep the weight loss going as I've purchased a really great new outfit that will not allow for any extra pounds!

Other than the alcohol tonight, I should be able to keep my food calories in check, as long as I can put blinders on to the birthday cake... my complete weakness. (Talk about Kryptonite!)

Enjoy your weekend all, and I will join you, in full force, on Monday!

Love to you all... you truly are the best!

quinn

Mern 06-02-2012 08:22 AM

Live-in GD's graduation was wonderful. I was so proud I was ready to burst. The kids wanted to go to a pizza joint afterwards so we did that with her BF and his family, even though we went out to breakfast with them yesterday morning. I stayed on plan at breakfast, but I cheated on carbs at the pizza parlor with half a steak hoagie. Then we had cake at home. But I'm back on track today.

Live-in GD got her car title and insurance, registration and license plates on her first car today, so we went and got her new windshield wipers, driveway reflector markers. Went for a ride--I hope she drives that carefully all the time--I was impressed since I've never let her drive my car. So we passed another milestone--no more having to drive her all over the place. :D

Doing well on exercise and food today, but not on water due to all the errands.

Welcome callaquill. So glad you joined us.

Hi and big hugs to the Weekend Warriors here. Will try to catch up later.

Mern 06-02-2012 08:24 AM

Yo! Quinn! Welcome home!

Enjoy the party tonight!

Catch you later.

01gt4.6 06-02-2012 09:36 AM

Wooowhoo quinniepoo came back. :) Enjoy the party and you better not feel guilty for letting your hair down! Take that break and enjoy it while you can!!!

I feel like a garburetor lately. I keep having high hopes for myself when I get up in the morning, have a decent breakfast, and then it's all downhill from there, stuffing my face with crap. It doesn't help that hubby bought himself a big fancy chocolate birthday cake and it's staring at me every time I open the fridge. And he decided he didn't want it after all before he even tried it, so I'm the only one eating it. Ugh. I'm still kind of sick. It comes and goes. My ears are plugged and my throat is sore. I want to go to bed early but the kiddo fell asleep at the dinner table at quarter to six, so I don't know what my night is going to be like. Chances are he'll wake up at midnight and I won't be able to get him back to sleep. I'm grouchy today! I need my motivation back.

Hi Mern!

Thanks and congratulations to your granddaughter! Neither of us should feel guilty for our celebratory, 1-day calories... we delivered a couple of 18 year-olds successfully to adulthood... that deserves and requires celebration, right?? :D:D (Now, try not to "white-knuckle" each time she pulls out of the driveway!! lol)

Wooowhoo quinniepoo came back. :) Enjoy the party

Well Buddy, it's 7:00 a.m. and I most definitely let my hair down... lol and down... and down... haha. Ugh... I just might be too old for this... Some Tylenol and a 32 oz. McDonald's Coke may be in my future... ;) Oh, and I don't remember, but I think I fell, face-first, into the birthday cake...

Onward to tomorrow and clean, healthy eating!!! lol

Thanks so much to all for your congrats and kind words on my live-in GD's graduation. Y'all are so sweet.

Quinn, yeah, my celebration cheat excuses have run out. Back on the wagon tomorrow. :)

Today I did a spectacular job on food--
--a heaping teaspoon of the nutritious kind of peanut butter
-- 1 cup low carb chili
--1/2 cup plain black soybeans
--1/3 cup sauteed spinach
--a tossed salad with ranch dressing
--7 oz. precooked weight sirloin steak
--2 pieces sugar free chocolate.

No exercise, though, and water is deficient.

OK, my vacation from logging is over. Tomorrow it's back on the wagon with food logging, water, and exercise.

Quinn, from what I've seen so far GD is a careful driver, but I'll have to fight to not worry until she gets home if it's dark. Coming home from work or from her boyfriend's she has to drive a curvy two lane, poorly lit road that is desolate for 2 1/2 miles and there are deep gullies on the sides of the road with no guardrails where if you ran off the road your car would overturn. She is fine with her 11PM curfew plus the fact that when she leaves the house in her car, whether it's day or night she must tell us where she's going and what time she expects to be home. Also, we bought her first tank of gas and told her we don't ever want to see the needle on her gas tank down to 1/4 tank. Those rules will help prevent the white knuckles. LOL

I still haven't caught up with all the posts since Friday. But I know where they are--maybe tomorrow. :)

Huge hugs of appreciation to all who have helped keep me sane without gaining all back all 31 lbs. I've lost so far over the years.

Mern 06-03-2012 11:45 AM

Quinn, I'm guessing you already saw this post to me from Hope:

"Mern, tell Quinn I am so sorry about her Mom and so happy for her for all the her DD's many accomplishments. Very impressive!!! I also hope the grad party goes off well with minimal stress and wear and tear on her."

Mern 06-03-2012 11:52 AM

That pop-up add from Lee's Chicken is driving me nuts--causes so much interference that I actually got crabby when trying to edit because it popped up over and over and over and over... :o

Quinn, did you see Hope's post to me a couple days ago? She wrote:

Uh so, bad weekend in regards to calories... ah well. I did go on a great hike today. It was funny because when my friends invited me, I was like, sure, as long as you don't expect me to go very fast, 'cause it's up a mountain. Turns out I was the fasted person on the hike, and others were having a hard time keeping up with me! They were all like, wow, you're in shape! Haha, it was pretty epic. To be fair, the last time I went hiking I weighed 35 lbs. more...

Anyway, hope tomorrow is better...hope everyone had a good weekend!

nobe 06-03-2012 03:30 PM

Sicker today. Not much of a runny nose, but my head feels like it weighs 100 pounds and my ears are still plugged and my throat still sore. And I'm aching all over. So, no exercise. But I didn't have much of an appetite so my calories are good, and no junk except for finishing off the cake. I'm going to try to get an early night again tonight and hopefully I'll be feeling better tomorrow, to start fresh on a new week.

1) 1,600 calories max/day (allow myself 1 guilt free day over 1,600) - 1480, 1584, 1528, 2488, 1608 (for 8 calories, I'm counting it!), 2060, 1428
2) do 2 exercises on days I don't work (walking/weights/gardening/Richard Simmons/stationary bike) - 1hr walking/weights, 1.5hrs gardening/weights, painted 7 hrs, nothing, painted 7 hrs, 1hr walking/1/2hr gardening, nothing
3) 20% protein minimum - 23%, 22%, 18%, 16%, 19%, 15%, 21%
4) 64oz water minimum - 64oz+, 64oz+, no idea - not enough, 64oz+, 64oz, 64oz+64oz
5) calorie deficit 700+ - 729, 735, 1247, +421, 1163, 122, 639
6) take vitamins - yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
7) lights out by 11 the night before - yes, yes, yes, no, yes, no, yes

I know I'm early for tomorrow but I have a lot going on in the morning and wanted to post this since Tori said that I could make both of our goals.

I figured I'd change it up a bit. First I put up some goals between us, then I'll list Tori specific goals and specific goals for myself.

First things first, we both have to make our journal public for this week and post the link.

Now that I got that out the way, IT'S ON LIKE http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...OaTRYRxBN96XI6

Tori vs. Mike Goals
1) highest % of weight lost (post beginning weight)
2) most ounces of water per day
3) most servings of fruits/veggies (fresh, frozen, V8, doesn't matter)
4) least amount of bread
5) most miles walked

Tori specific
1) find a new doctor
2) no smokes
3) no frozen dinners (frozen lunch is okay if you are working)

Mike specific
1) write 3 policies
2) no Blasts
3) 2 RAK
